Just a few minutes ago, I arrived from an epic ecounter I shall not soon forget.

It starts in Whiterun, where I am training smithing and I run out of iron, so I decide to travel to riverwood. I debate to myself if I should fast travel as I would like to encounter a dragon. Now thinking my chances encountering a dragon are slim I decided to fast travel to Riverwood to see Alvor for some iron.

So I arrive, I am walking towards alvor when suddenly, I hear a huge roar above me, the music kicks in and the guards ready their bows, alvor grabs a weapon as everyone else scatters. A huge fight begins with the dragon, it lands on the buildings and constantly circles. But eventually the beast is slain right on the road going through Riverwood by a finishing move. Everyone gathers round and chats about what just happened. However.

When I talked to alvors wife and child they were depressed, why I thought.

Then as I turn around to the blacksmiths house......there lies alvor in a trail or ice.

I couldnt believe how epic this was, I mean the AI was amazing, I expected them to go back to talking about the war or something but they all gathered round the dead dragon and said things like: "I never would have believed unless I saw it myself" or "thats the biggest one I have ever seen"
And when the archer of the village passed alvor's body, he commented "such a waste"

Can honestly say that has been my most epic heroic moment of this game so far. What about you guys?

Sounds like a very scripted event if it is happening often?

Unbelievable though, I was just saying in another thread about how much better it would be if dragons started attacking towns rather than random wanderers in the wilderness.

I wouldn't want Alvor to die, he's a bloody useful merchant in one of the 'nicest' villages

I was in Rorikstead (whatever it's called) and we had a Dragon attack after I'd slept the night. (I do this, yes)

It was a Frost Dragon. The coolest part was seeing several soldiers taking aim with their bows (I was a good distance away), and watching one of them go down from frost breath and then, having two other soldiers run past me with bows drawn, firing. The rumbling and roaring of the Dragon as it swooped around was very cinematic. It was a great fight. The Dragon only landed once during the whole encounter so it took some time to bring him down. I credit the townsfolk with the kill...I was missing too much.

haha I have placed his body against a tree next to the mill, waiting for a mod that allows graves or boats so he can be put on one and released down the river. He is my first major npc to die
