Since Creation engine is likely the engine for fallout 4

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:39 pm

Fallout 4 is speculated to be the game Bethesda has had in pre-production since at least August 2010 they did not say it was fallout game but its likely.

What do you want see tech wise done? Improved over new vegas? The graphics should be good based on gameplay trailer of skyrim.

I guarantee Fallout 4 is at least in pre-production, it may even be in its early stage of production. Skyrim is out in just a couple of months so it would make sense. Also it is pretty much confirmed that Fallout 4 is going to be using the Creation Engine, Bethesda made it themselves and I don't think they'll make Fallout 4 in Gamebryo. I am actually thinking that Fallout 4 will be made in a different version of the Creation Engine, maybe the Destruction Engine  matches Fallouts theme more than Creation Engine. No matter what Fallout 4 is going to be awesome, when I first saw gameplay footage for Skyrim I was like "I can't wait to see what this will look like in a Fallout game!" And with all the new features in Skyrim that will more than likely be put into Fallout 4 (Sprinting, 3D Map, 3D Item Viewing, Dual Wielding, Radiant AI, the new way of talking) Fallout 4 is going to be sweet!

Im actually glad skyrim is coming out first this means fallout 4 will have all issues worked out.

Look at oblivion and then fallout 3 and all they learned and improved.

Same will happen with skyrim and fallout 4.

Same here, I love the Elder Scrolls but Fallout is my favorite video game series.

Better animations, and hopefully a map system more similar to that of the first two Fallout games.

No, it would be better to avoid that system IMO.

Why, because it is bad to have large maps, detailed settlements, and logical timeframe - distance ratios?

I do agree, but also think that it's quite sad that it has to go that way - fixing Elder Scrolls' issues in Fallout - when they should be completely separate and different franchises (as they once were) to begin with. I can't see much appeal anymore in keeping the gameplay and desing goals but changing the setting and swapping magic to guns.

With the new engine it'd be nice with a little more destroyable environment, better lightning, better NPC AI behavior and for molerats to not just run around the car I'm standing on but actually jump up at me.
So more realism for imm?rsion I guess.

I love how F1&2 fans think the maps are bigger in the original games.

More fuidity in the animations
Textures that dont overlap with an in game foot of space between them
Less freezng up when theres a lot going on in the screen
I also like the idea of a more destructable/dynamic evironment.. moving blades of grass, tumbleweeds and the like blowing the the breeze..

^ this. I wish enemies would actually use the environments to their advantage. or at the minimum, retreat, regroup and attack a different way than before

the "Maps" In FO1 and 2 covered about 200^2 miles FO3 they cover about 18.64 miles (in game units used for measurement usually designed at a 1:60 scale)
the playable areas on the other hand are very different (where as outside of a settlement or pre-defined area) everything is procedurally generated. where as FO3 and NV have static maps

I really like the idea of static maps, if it can be implemted. maybe something even between 1+2 and 3.. I dont want small little map areas for encounters out in the greater wastes.
but, there could be some geographic barriers that require a new map load, so they dont have to downscale everything. Examples like going to the pitt in F3 or entering the metros... I am down with that. but, i do feel that exploration is a main selling point in this generation of fallout games.

I do kinda wish they would just use the Tech5, as it would be perfect for making a huge world...... but, then we havent trully seen what creation is capable of, more for than a few seconds worth of "in game" footage.

When I first saw the trailer for Skyrim, all I could think was "Fallout 4 is going to be epic!" Skyrim looks great but I'm just way more excited for Fallout 4.

I don't mind them using this engine (assuming it's a good one and doesn't disappoint), I just hope for more Fallout tune-ups. Map-node system would be great, but unfortunately I doubt Beth would ever do it. I hope for a huge wasteland map (significantly bigger than Fallout 3 or New Vegas) at the very least. Also, assuming there are super mutants, allow them to be edited like humans in the editor. I'm sick of seeing the same faces, the only SM in New Vegas that didn't have the exact same facial structure was Marcus because they had to actually make the model. If they make it so you can edit using sliders, that problem goes away.

Would be nice if every creature had sliders.
I mean, I have two guinea pigs, one is black and dark brown haired with very spiky fur and very powerful back legs, the other one is mainly white and light brown with a tint of black spots and has a very fat ass.
Get where I'm going with this?
I hate that every molerat is copy pasta of the next.
Would be nice to see "some" difference between creatures as well.
Nothing practical, just cosmetic things.
Then when they spawn in the area their appearance is randomized from the sliders.

But more importantly though; you're right about the super mutants but every single humanoid needs to have these sliders, ghouls, feral ghouls, krazies (For the love of god Bethesda bring them back!!!), trogs (COME ON!!! :cryvaultboy: ), Hillfolk, Lobotomites, Skags, Slags, et cetera.
Even if they're only hostile they still need it.
And clothes and armors on super mutants should have variations too and not the same one depending on what lvl it is. (Brute having a helmet, Reaver having a broken down combat armor)

I just realized - the Creation Engine must be built for Xbox 360 and PS3 then?
Personally I was kinda hoping that Fallout 4 would be next-gen...
Xbox 360 is getting a bit old now, as is the PS3. Xbox 360 only has 512MB RAM, the PS3 has 256MB RAM + 256MB RAM on GPU...
Not exactly hardware that'll provide super intelligent NPCs, destructible environment, amazing fluid animations, dynamic combat and gigantic open worlds without load-time is it?

Oh well there's always Fallout 5... (Hopefully!)

Considering there's no next gen consoles been announced, other than the Wii 2, I think expecting a "next-gen" engine is a bit premature.

dear lord. Yea, bring back old maps. So we can completely eliminate exploration fun, one of Bethesda's main skills.

jeez.

Fallout was never about exploration until Bethesda came into the picture with Fallout: Elder Scrolls Version anyway.
Fallout should not have one grand map.
It should have 15 Point Lookout maps instead, with a world map and tons of random encounter maps.

Individual nodes could very well be the size of Point Lookout, which could be explored, and special encounters out in the wasteland ripe for the experiencing.
