Sinderion wont train?

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 7:41 pm

i've been refered to Sinderion by another alchemist. aparently Sinderion is the only one that can teach me alchemy any more due to my level of alchemy i curently have.
well i've been to Sinderion a few times but he wont train me. i thought i had him teach another one of my characters but he asked for 2 different wines before he would train me. but this time he wont even talk about training. there is no option. he just keeps asking me about nirnroot. i've tried cheating in more nirnroot but he just keeps asking for more even though he has made all levels of the elixir he can but he still keeps asking about more nirnroot no matter how much i give him :wallbash:
is there a way around it all so i can get the training?

Are you on PC? Open up the console and type in

Spoiler
setstage TrainingAlchemy 20

This can be tricky, so you may want to try reloading and talking to him again. And make sure your journal has the quest for alchemy training in it, he wont talk to you without a referal, I think.

I see you forced it with a console command.

But it is likely not a bug.

To get the dialog option with a Master trainer, you should get a recommendation from a lower level trainer. So the intended way to do this is to go to any Alchemy trainer and you should get a dialog option which will refer you to Sinderion. At that point you should get the dialog option from him. After all without asking someone, who does your character know tha the is the Master Alchemy trainer.

Actually I have had this issue with the master sneak trainer - (I forget her name) - in the IC.
I was given a referral, she said I needed to do "a test" before she would accept me, I did the test, she grudgingly accepted me, but no training option whatsoever.

I am assuming that - after reading the wiki - I need to actually have the relevant skill at 100 before I get master training rather than just have it boosted to >100 by enchanted items...?

Or

Is it something else...?

(BTW apologies for thread-jacking but you'll admit it IS related!! :D

That should be 70, not 100, but the logic is correct. It's the un-boosted skill that counts for the trainers. However, I thought the same check was made for the recommendation and the qualification quest, so I'm surprised it's happening that way.

No you are right, I misread it!
But nevertheless I did the whole recommendation + micro-quest but no training option...?

You can't train a skill over 100 (at least that way.)
