I voted "yes" in the (wishful?) belief that we are in for some hardcoe customisation under the smithing skill. There is ample evidence for this in the screenshots (ie the same pauldrons and curaiss seen separate from each other, then combined), and it would render the whole forging element worthwhile if we can assemble our "armour" from different components.

If this speculation is fruitless however, I have cast my vote in the wrong direction.

I have never in my life had a question or a problem that could not be solved by searching an engine. The fact that people don't seem to realize this is astonishing.

I'm going with the hope that the armour customisation will more than make up for the lack of the separate pieces.

I reckon they'll pull it off.

The thread seems to be derailing...I suggest it goes back on track before it crashes into a bus, or something.

Anyway, I'm not too bothered by the whole thing. Do I like it? No, not really. Is it a huge heartbreaking and deal breaking thing that will absolutely ruin the game for me? :woot: ...No. That would be stupid. :tes:

Separate piece PLEASE, mostly to make it easier for modders to add different clothing options!

Exactly. I'd prefer separate a separate cuirass and greaves slot but it doesn't bother me that much.

Some people like to blow every single thing they don't like way out of proportion. COMBINED CUIRASS AND GREAVES?! I AM SO ANGRY SKYRIM IS RUIIIIIIIINEEEEED

Thing is tho even if the armor isnt seperate (which i doubt). I still feel that you will be able to customize the armor.

I just find it sad that after all the crap Oblivion got for combining when they shouldn't have (I saw no problem with a full outfit for the Dark Brotherhood armor, for instance, but seriously, no separate pauldrons on regular armor??) that they continue to do it.

And honestly if what I think they're going to do with Smithing, ie, make it so you can go into a smithing menu and remove and add parts as you see fit, I just think its going to turn out very unintuitive and lacking in sense. You shouldn't have to go to a smith to take off a pauldron. Hell, the way (at least, the way that I learned) you put armor on, the pauldrons aren't even attached and go on after the chest piece.

Not generally but what would be cool is if you could link various items into complete suites to make it quicker to take them off and on. So if you're like me and like to roleplay, you might wear a set of armour as you adventure but you might wear a set of clothes for around town and you might want to undress to go to bed. If you could link pants, boots, gloves ect you could equip and unequip them all with just one click.

It's a pretty big deal for me. It isn't gamebreaking or anything ridiculous like that, but it sure as hell makes the game a lot less appealing, especially if its confirmed that we only have the same amount of armour types as in Oblivion.
It's times like these you wish the Devs would see these one-sided polls and act on them. :(

First of all, there is absolutely no reason to merge greaves and cuirass. Especially after Oblivion showed that fans are very vocal about number of armour slots.
There is such a thing as giving the fanbase what they want.

Secondly, its getting a bit silly that at every (perceived) cut in complexity and customisation there are still people eagerly on the fence about why it is a good thing and making up damnfool scenarios as to why objecting to less game for your buck is somehow a wrong standpoint.

Thirdly, and most importantly, I do not believe greaves and cuirass are merged.
I do not believe it because I have seen devs make subtle hints on threads like these and telling us again and again not to assume things.
My instinct tells me that that means that the assumption is wrong in some regard, and that there are details they are not allowed to tell us at this time.

Greaves... I don't care. I think it just looks ugly to have a different kind of greaves armour than your cuirass.
Also, it makes clipping a much bigger issue, especially now since animations are more complex.

So I'm leaning between a yes or not bothered concerning single armour pieces. It leans most to not bothered, so I voted that.

I still don't believe their merged. If you pause really quickly when Todd scrolls over the cuirass in the demo, it just shows the cuirass. If its been confirmed that you can rotate objects and see ALL of the objects, why would the greaves not be showing?

I saw a robe in the inventory in a another video, and it only showed the torso as well.

You know I hope they don't combine both but I won't be bothered if it is. After playing many types of games this game has the least amount of drawback and Beth had took some risks with the game but they are actually great risks. People must learn how to adjust or make their own games or get left in the dust. Beth already knows they will be hated few but loved by many.

Tl;dr not bothered and my logic will be ignored.

I agree. I can only guess some reasons (like possible bad animations) but I for one wouldn't trade the customization for smoother animations.
