A single mod that takes place in TES 3, 4 & 5 ... Possib

The one thing pretty much "all' RPGs have in common is the fact that you "always" start out as a weak idiot & then half the game is trying get stronger & smarter. This was fun once or twice but come on .... really.

I would like at some point for your PC to mature then that is where you stay (within reason) then the game can be 90% about the story & not just running around trying to level up.

That way you could take the same PC with you thru all the TES games ... ( I sort of do now but its a cheat )

I remember in the old gold box D&D games you could do that very thing & you even aged. ... it was way cool

I know this has been talked about before but playing Skyrim lately got me thinking about it again & wondering if I could mod TES 3, 4 & 5 to make that feasible.

You could be thrust forward in time with magic at some point after defeating DU in MW & wake up in the Prison at the beginning of OB then at some point after the main quest in OB jump again & find yourself in Skyrim in the wagon going to be beheaded.

Morrowind would be the game that defines the basic parameters of your PC & than that would need to stay mostly unchanged through TES 4 & 5 ( within reason ) or obviously you would be godlike by the time you got to Skyrim & that wouldn't be fun either.

Hummm??

Edit: Just occured to me someone might have done this while I was away ... anyone? ... anyone? :)

Love this idea, and I 100% agree about the starting weak and getting stronger and smarter, we need a new story, a new theme, something that makes it more exciting and new, you don't have to be strong or smart in order for the game to be good, I would like an idea about a normal person (just like Morrowind, and you start as an alien to these new lands) who gets his family abducted or something similiar, because even if you are strong or smart, you can't do anything or you'll get them killed or tortured, something like that, where you have to do some certain stuff, or just get out and look for them yourself

I want something that won't hold my hands like Skyrim does, I want to be free and do my own thing, start my own life, not doing what other people want my to do, if I want to join the dark side and do a conspiracy against the people and against the lands I will, if I want to be an evil god I will, a necromancer than kills people and uses their bodies I will be that.

And your idea about a mod with all of the TES games is great and seems fulfilling, love the idea by the way, thanks for saying it!

I don't recall reading about anyone trying to do that - being able to use one char and span all three games chronologically. There are certainly a lot of mods that have been released or are a WIP to expand the geography of Tamriel to encompass the various locales found in or mentioned by lore in the game. TR, SHotN, Cyrodil are examples.

The closest I've seen done to what you discuss involves the Forgotten Realms series set in Baldur's Gate. The modding community created a mod so that the player could play his/her char starting with BG and continue into BG2 and then ToB. Still, that mod requires having BG, BG2 and ToB in order to install and play the mod and involved a fairly dedicated set of modders to make it.

Who knows, maybe once the various geography expansions are finished, maybe there will be another group of modders who want to expand them chronologically as you ask about. It seems to me that whatever is done, it will probably be easiest to do using just one of the three game engines rather than stringing code for three different game engines.

It's not possible to make a mod that encompasses all three games because each game has a different file structure. I could see this happening using the mod that adds Oblivion to the Skyrim engine and Skywind, but because both mods are essentially TCs, you'd have to uninstall them after you've played the Morrowind and Oblivion MQs. It was possible to combine the Fallout games because the engine was the same for both, but the engine was updated for each of the TES games you've mentioned, Darknut. You're better off just doing like you've been doing. It's an interesting idea though.

Yep for two important reasons.

1. Morrowind - ObjectID, ModID as mod records

2. Both Oblivion and Skyrim are using FormID

3. Skyrim have Papyrus and older TES games doesn't

After some thought, I realize that it is possible, but you would have to combine both Skywind, Skyblivion, and Skyrim (without DLCs) into one mod or create a way that you'll start in Skywind, access Skyblivion after defeating Ur, and then start Skyrim proper after you've dealt with Dagon. I think it would be quite possible to do, if very, very tedious depending on how Skywind and Skyblivion handle the new content: if they overwrite existing areas, then it wouldn't be possible. If, however, they use new landmasses like what Dawnguard and Dragonborn do, then it would be possible.

I may be misinterpreting the OP's [Darknut's] query, but ....

Many of us have already done something, to achieve more-or-less exactly what is being requested.

Me, I created a "Tester" Player Character, with 90 stats in everything, and all sorts of "cheat equipment," for the express purpose of testing new mods (especially landmasses, and complicated quest mods), who can laugh off nearly everything that vanilla MW, Trib, and BM [and practically every other End-User-Created mod ever produced] can throw at him, so I can concentrate on what new stuff, and experiences, and eye-candy that the creative Modders out there come up with.

I've used the same SaveGame, with him, since 2006. [Just do separate Saves when progressing through various things].

And despite that, Morrowind never seems to get old ...

It's all about what YOU enjoy, in your gaming!

Nobody, probably, can come up with a single mod that will please everyone else. It's all individual.

And thankfully, the MW Game Engine (and the CS, and all the discussion and help available on this Forum) lets one tailor practically everything in the experience to suit oneself.

Just need to learn how.

[And, Darknut is certainly one who could ...]

Jac's ideas are good, as far as "combining" the MW/Trib/BM "main" questlines with other stuff -- but then, somebody will want "SkyWind," or "MorrowBlivion," or TR or Vampire Embrace or The Underground included also, so ...

As someone very astute once said, "..If you want it done right, do it yourself .."

The means are at everyone's disposal.

[Except the poor souls who obtained MW without a working Construction Set].

Anyway, Happy Holidays!
