single suit armor

Let us bid adieu to a few Tamrielic artifacts then, if so much of this terrible news is true indeed.

okay... so i was thinking.... maybe playstation just messed up what todd said... and he really said there will only be a single type of armor category. no heavy or light armor. what do you guys think about that? do you think maybe that is what it really wanted to say?

That would make much more sense to me.

Makes sense. I think we'll have one Armor skill with perks handling specializations.

It'd be pretty astonishing if a publication as official as Playstation were to misinterpret Todd so easily. Blunders better left for a secondhand translated Swedish magazine, but an English one? Strange. All the same though, there's virtually nothing suggesting armor to be single pieces. I don't know why this thread is still afloat. :P

i just wish maybe i would have pieced that together before i posted this... i just feel like playstation magazine messed this one up... maybe a payback for the lack of love bethesda has shown them in the past. (joke)

Was just about to say that. 10 pages are enough speculation and armageddon for now, somebody needs to clean this mess up.

I still hate how they simplified Oblivions armor system... It was more fun being able to mix and match. Also you could enchant each piece and become very powerful. Also I better be able to wear a lot of clothing with my armor set...

Yes. Todd, Pete, or someone else whose word we can take, needs to just give us a simple "yes" or "no" on this topic once and for all.

The article makes me think that clothes might be one piece, but not armor.

I'd be fine with that. Though I would prefer separate pants and shirts etc.

another cool thing they talk about from the article is

"... and it brought one of the giants toppling down. No sooner had he hit the ground, however, than something scaly and vicious swept out of the sky and scooped up the giant's body in one massive claw. And as the herd scattered, we came face to face with our first dragon."

they also go on to describe a dragon picking up a guard later on.

Pete already has, about 5 months ago.

I can't believe some of the responses in this thread. This would be a deal breaker, really I find that hard to believe. You'll still be able to do whatever you want, create either a male or female character out of 10 races, and you'll still be leveling up your character and be able to roleplay him or her how you see fit.

I think I'm 99.9 % sure that the mag got it wrong and mispoke it's words. There will be single armor sets but those will also be along side multiple piece type armors that we've had from the previous games.

I never said it would be acceptable, just that it might be possible. I do plan on making a Guts character, just black pants, the biggest 2H sword I can find, and as many scars as I put on him, give him a missing eye. And although I doubt they will be, if gauntlets are seperate, just one on his left (missing) hand to mimick his fake hand from the Manga.

Arg! I can't take it anymore, the suspense is Killing me!

I'm gonna go unwind by playing Morrowind for a few hours and hope this gets cleared up by the time I come back.

Just take a look at these two screenshots:

http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/3927/baldguy.jpg
http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/3514/dovahkiinbla.jpg

The two of them show the same type of armor, but you can see in screen 1 that the guy has a small pauldron on his right shoulder whereas the guy in screen 2 does not. Their left pauldrons appear to be different as well. Also, the dovahkiin image in the background for this forum looks identical to the one in screen 2, except that his bulky pauldron is on the opposite shoulder and the dovahkiin in the screenshot lacks gauntlets.

So, I'm thinking this is just some kind of misunderstanding. Hopefully a dev or something clears this up soon.
