single suit armor

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 10:52 am

I think what hes saying is that clothes come with the armor set so any part of that armor set brings with it that suit of clothing. And in fact thats what we see in the pcs. Lots of bits of armor but always with each armor SET the same clothing...

Mind you what do mages wear?

So, I'm thinking this is just some kind of misunderstanding. Hopefully a dev or something clears this up soon.

This could take a couple of hours since it's Saturday. I do believe it was a misunderstanding of words by the mag but we will have to wait and see.

Even if Pete said everything was separate pieces, that was 5 months ago. Things change. This magazine is more recent, and I'd assume they fact check. Think about it, if Todd said, "armor and clothing are one piece now", don't you think the interviewer would say, "wait it's all one piece? " Todd, "yup, clothing and armor are nomlonger separate pieces, but one piece."

I hope to go this is wrong, but they HAD attributes in, but removed it because it didn't fit. What if separate armor didn't fit? What if it was too powerful enchanting everything? With slow motion dragon shouts, and dragon shouts in general, added to everything else, maybe the genwas a little too easy once you slapped on a bunch of enchanted boos and gloves etc.

I'm just speculating, and hope I'm dead wrong, but 5 months is 5 months, and this article is more recent and from Todds mouth to paper. Unless this magazine is known for errors on occasion, I'm worried.

Pete already has, about 5 months ago.

Yes, but things change, and quotes can be misleading. In light of all this confusion it would be great for a dev to take less than 5 minutes of their time to clear this up.

If Pete, or a dev, confirmed it's separate again it wouldn't matter. Theoretically, it could change before launch, right?

This is true. But honestly, they're in the finishing up stage by now, so however it is now is likely the way it will stay... (unless we can find some way to persuade otherwise?)

That is awesome! Thanks for the quote.

well if you liked that then let me see if i can find some more info. but keep in mind this comes from the same source that started this whole single suit armor.

guards- "While Skyrim's lawmen won't sport the high-end equipment they did in Oblivion, they're nonetheless tough enough to take us down-no matter how powerful we get. Lucky for us, the game's divided into nine area's or "holds," and it's possible to be wanted criminal in one and an upstanding citizen in the rest.

"Skyrim boasts around 60,000 lines of recorded dialogue, compared to Oblivion's 40,000 (and yes, Bethesda's hiring a lot more voice actors)."

That interpretation makes a lot of sense as well. So you can't wear armor AND clothing anymore, maybe to limit the amount of enchanted items you can wear.

The more I read the quote from the article, the more I believe this is actually the case. You have an "upper body" slot and so on, and can either put a shirt or a cuirass in there. Maybe an extra slot for mage robes so they can wear armor. And we have not seen any screenshot that contradicts this.

Just take a look at these two screenshots:

http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/3927/baldguy.jpg
http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/3514/dovahkiinbla.jpg

The two of them show the same type of armor, but you can see in screen 1 that the guy has a small pauldron on his right shoulder whereas the guy in screen 2 does not. Their left pauldrons appear to be different as well. Also, the dovahkiin image in the background for this forum looks identical to the one in screen 2, except that his bulky pauldron is on the opposite shoulder and the dovahkiin in the screenshot lacks gauntlets.

So, I'm thinking this is just some kind of misunderstanding. Hopefully a dev or something clears this up soon.

those are two different sets, although similar. the metal part in the middle is slightly different, one is straqed on by 2 pieces of leather, the other 4. The part over their stomachs is different, the belts are slightly different. If anything this might conform diffent types of armor of the same material (like leather), or could like bandit armor, and elite bandit armor if done the same way as Fallout 3.

They were also in the finishing up stage five months ago. It makes no sense to make such a change now after years of developing the game.

Those aren't the same armor, but the same as http://img.neoseeker.com/v_image.php?type=news&articleid=16254&image=3 one, without the armbands.

So yeah, you can change your gloves at least...

If this is true, it will end my interest on Skyrim...I wish Bethesda did not make fallout games, they made money for them but they killed our TES universe...Sad but true

I'm afraid there will be [censored] guns in TES:VI like dwemer scoped rifles

What the heck? This is what you guys start talking about while im sleeping? Darn it.

Anyone with a definite yay or nay over the whole 1 piece armor thing. We all know Pete said multi-piece armor. And we know the mags make weird mistakes sometimes. Also we have seen several pictures released showing different configurations of armor pieces on the protagonist.

I think we can chalk this one up as a mag error.(i hope lol)

I don't have a problem with Single suit armor as it's easier to mesh the body then having multiple armor pieces but this is such a radical idea from what we have done in Morrowind and Oblivion. Not to mention that it would make enchanting about 100% useless.

How about you describe the new screenshots in detail? Preferably in a new thread. :D

but like I said in another post, those different configurations could be like bandit armor and elite bandit armor in Fallout 3, which had 1 piece suits in it. :( I really really hope this is wrong.

Single suit armour? oh that was such an ugly Fallout feature. I'd prefer the old mix & match method so I can create unique sets of my own.

It would be weird to bring back enchanting if they were now going to be so limited on things to enchant, but that maybe their idea of how to balance enchanting, which many (not me) did not like to be so powerful.

The rational that it was just referring to grouping pieces of armor in the inventory doesn't make much sense to me. All you have to do is preface each piece (assuming there are pieces) with the type of armor it is and POOF! they're grouped by alphabetical order! That's hardly worth mentioning.

I'm kinda torn. I mean, if it goes like Fallout, I'll probably both like it and hate it at the same time. I'll hate it because I won't be able to recreate awesome character suits like in past games (in Oblivion, try wearing monk's robes with leather boots and gauntlets = awesome looking ranger). But if they succeed at making them worth it in coolness, then I might like it. Still, I'll really miss it. Seriously, if it's true it's gonna svck

Enchanting will still have some uses if it's single suit armor but it won't be as effective.
