Singlehandedly, the most epic dungeon mod...

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 5:50 am

is RUINS OF TARNESIA. It is so huge! Totally epic...I wish there were more player made dungeons this big and exciting! HINT HINT HINT to all potential modders...!!! You could make a name for yourself...go down in history as the modder "who made the dungeon bigger and more epic than Ruins of Tarnesia"!!!

I can already say that there are bigger dungeons for Morrowind and if you don't care about quality as much there are some that are bigger then all of the dundeons in Oblivion put together. (there is a dungeon with 1,000 levels)

Morrowind was fun back in the early parts of the last decade...but we needed better graphics.

Interesting, you should try http://www.lostspires.com/, thats one of my favourites, the 'dungeons' are fairly large and add quite a bit of custom content too.

Graphics isn't all there is to a game although it helps. :)
Seriously, have you tried running it with MGE and the latest shaders? Perhaps not quite up to Oblivion standards, but it does make a helluva difference.

I actually think that MGE in the state it is in right now, probably beats Oblivion (even with our new success of OBGEv2) by far in graphic looks. MGE has realistic water with caustics and 3-d waves, better optimized SSAO and Depth of Field shaders, Clouds that actually cover the sun with rays excerting from them, lightscattering, etc etc. This is just my opinion though.

Edolsian, who made Tarnesia has several other good dungeon mods. They are generally of a good quality, with sensible monsters and loot and a decent backstory to the dungeons.
But the mods need to be cleaned with TES4EDIT first and for some ot most of them you may also want to manually delete som "wild edits" and edits to vanilla stuff.

My own favourites last time I played was the Fort west og Bravil and the Ruins high up in the mountains north of the Shrine of Azura.

Oh Yeah! I remember Ruins of Tarnesia back in my early days playing Oblivion?it was great at that time!

If you like Dungeons and you play without cheats and ubber equipment, you really should try http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13714
You really feel trapped down there! And actually feel the urge to get out!

A nice background story too. I hope you enjoy it.

Cheers!

For graphics, Morrowind > Oblivion.

It probably runs better too (I don't have it, so I can't test - though I am contemplating it).

But yeah, just go through Dev Akm's quest list. I believe there's a Knol on it that's most up to date.

Yeah, it's safe to say that modded morrowind is better than vanilla Oblivion. But Ivellon has a very epic atmosphere! (just don't go in with light spells or uber equipment). I don't think that can be beat as far as dungeon crawls.

I need to try Tarnesia, does that one need cleaning?

Those Morrowind screenshots made me think i was looking at an Oblivion screenshot, very impressive indeed!
Going to try some of the dungeon mods which have been noticed here, but i will use a strict cleaning procedure :)

mumbles something about Oblivions crashes and resistance is futile :brokencomputer:

Edolsians Dungeons are pretty wicked cool - hard to find on Nexus use PES instead where they are listed by his name.

Problem is that many of them have vanilla lighting (the last few are darker if I recall correctly). But yeah fun.

Also check out David Brasher on Nexus and TESAlliance - he does great stuff and I like reading his reviews of other dungeons on Nexus (he really gets into it).

Here is my BAIN package for extra dungeons:
Dungeons Comp I-BAIN ├[11 Vibliriband - Blackrock Mountain] ├[12 Vibliriband - Goblin City] ├[13 Vibliriband - Lair of Hydra] ├[14 Vibliriband - The Dragon Citiedel] ├[15 Vibliriband - Tower of the Lich king] ├[21 Edolsian - Gelden Halls] ├[22 Edolsian - Ruins of Tarnesia] ├[23 Edolsian - Fort Ferrion] ├[24 Edolsian - Fort Krakatus] ├[25 Edolsian - Gaelendryl -Border Remover] ├[26 Edolsian - Torynwyll] ├[27 Edolsian - Edolsians Furnace] ├[28 Edolsian - Fort Charrish] ├[29 Edolsian - Fort Falkenshire] ├[30 Edolsian - Darbinshire Keep] ├[32 Edolsian - SI Ruins of Aeris Zul] ├[33 Edolsian - Mouth of the Serpent] ├[40 Brasher - Grand Duke Adense Epic Dungeon] ├[41 Brasher - Bottomless Cavern] ├[42 Brasher - Cave of Wishcraft] ├[43 Brasher - Mehrunes Fel] ├[44 Brasher - Asharnkibibi] ├[45 Brasher - Zergonipilamat] ├[51 CDEP - Fanacasecul -old] ├[52 CDEP - FanaCeya] ├[53 CDEP - Underpall Cave] ├[61 Unique Dungeons - Lichs Lair] ├[62 Unique Dungeons - Lost Glory] ├[65 Old School Dungeons] ├[66 Old School Dungeons Ending] ├[68 JannixQuinn - Return of Dagoth Ur] ├[71 Baleur - Ruins of Nalcarum] ├[72 Kooper41 - Rivana] ├[73 Hydra Skillz - Brendi] ├[74 Hell on Earth 1 - Cave of Lost Souls] ├[75 Hell on Earth 2 - The Island of Fire] ├[76 Saurok - Forgotten Tower] ├[77 GP_Pale Goblin Cave] ├[81 Smelly Nerd - A Strange Cave] ├[82 Sunrayn - Crypt of Decay] ├[83 DarkElfGuy - Fort Baltsine] ├[84 Eddwills - Forgotten Tomb] └[85 Zeralesaar - Frostrift Cavern]
And for SI:
[10 Leodoidao - SI Craze Maze]
├[11 Leodiodao - SI Ruins of Brenfa]
├[20 Blitzs - Laughing Maw]
├[21 Blitzs - SI Deepgrave]
└[30 WillieSea - SI Temple of Zealots]
And I've been totally messing around with Morrowind and MGE lately and it is amazing what MGE does for it. Taking awhile to get the hang of it though.

Yeah, I like his stuff, except that he loves skeletons - there are tons of them in almost all his dungeons. Despite that, Galendryll is a huge, well-built dungeon. Someone even made a patch for that and UL Brena River.

But the mods need to be cleaned with TES4EDIT first and for some ot most of them you may also want to manually delete som "wild edits" and edits to vanilla stuff.

I have Fort Ferrion, Tarnesia, and Gelden Halls... after I read this, I ran them through TES4Edit. Oh my god, those mods are filthy. Ferrion wasn't bad - only 54 dirty edits - but the other two had 4400+ each. It cut the file size down 1/10 of the original. Thanks for the heads-up. :goodjob:

Wow. Those make me almost want to buy Morrowind and give it a shot again. I played it a bit on the XBox a few years ago, but several things made me give up - mainly the fact that I had to walk everywhere, and I had to stop every so often to recover fatigue. Yugh. The combat was also... less than steallar, shall we say. Still, I might give it a shot sometime - I need a break from Oblivion occasionally.
