Singleplayer or Multiplayer?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 11:25 am

If I start off with enough customization options to be satisfied with my characters, I'll jump into multiplayer to level up a bit first, if not it's single player/challenges to get more customization.

Singleplayer for sure.
Get to try everything out, and maybe the PSN won't be up yet XD

Or it will be down again :P

I'll begin with MP. No other game I played had the option to play the campaign on MP against real people, so I'm gonna do it the first time. It is going to be quite a different experience :D

I'll do it single-player first, so that I can see what it's like without other guys corrupting the experience at all.

Then multiplayer forever! :celebration:

Usually i don't play the single player part of a game, i jump straight in to online, but with brink.. as the single player and MP are basically the same i will probably jump in to single player or even make it co-op just to get the hang of things.

i'm all about the MULTIPLAYER in games ;) this game will be no different.
my favorite shooter is bad company 2, i've played it over 100hrs, and i've yet to play the singleplayer!!! lol!

I think this is like a slap in the face for a developer. Maybe not so much in this game since the multiplayer and single player are intertwined but in other games, it definitly is. A developer has to come up with a plot and a campaign to make a story. They put so much time into creating a great story just to see that some people get the game and totally ignore the whole story behind the game.

I can understand going into a game and playing the multiplayer first(which I don't do) and then going back to play the campaign. I don't understand how anyone can buy a game and not play the campaign at all. What's the point of creating a story at all? The developers might as well have just created some maps and let people kill each other on it. That would be boring unless you had a plot behind the multiplayer. I support the developers!

I am a huge MP person but sometimes I don't have too much time to hope on for a thorough MP experience and that's usually how I do the campaigns. Or if I get bored of too much MP and want to switch it up. Ill never get a game and NOT play the SP though but its not like im doing it for the devs I could care less about how much work (or lack of work haha) they put into it. Ill play the SP because I paid for it and am gonna milk those $65 for as much as they're worth lol.

That being said Ill most likely hop onto campaign first to learn the basics and be able to play at my own pace. Then hop into MP to finish the campaigns. Or if my roommate is around and b*tching that I'm using MY 56' HDTV too much much ill hop into a SP coop campaign to shut him up lol. They do have campaign co op right (ill tell him we're playing online coop just to make him feel good about himself lmao)?

You do know you can play the campaign as online multiplayer just as the devs intended.

I'm going to start with a few challenges to open up a few weapon/attachment options, then dive head first into multiplayer.

Yes. I said that it really didn't apply to this game as much because MP and Campaign are intertwined. But in other games it isn't. I posted that specifically for the people that do not care about campaigns in general.

i thought the whole point of brink was that there is no seprate single player or multiplayer.

The difference is in how you play the missions. But the missions themselves are the same thing. You can play them with friends, random people, or by yourself. That's the beauty of Brink. I can't wait.

I'm gonna hop on single player first then do some challenges to get my attachments, until the weekend, then jump on multiplayer

I want/attempt to level up my character to lvl 7 and run around as a light in multiplayer by the weekend

because I know by the time I jump on multi everyone will have a advantage on me so I want to have cool attachments and clothes and make them jealous
hehehe :disguise:

Hello, I am new to the forum obviously but I have been checking it out for about a week now (starting checking in on the forum when PSN went down) I have been super excited about this game for awhile, and figured I would be playing it for awhile and wanted to get out there and meet the community. But I mean, this game looks like mirrors edge meets team fortress 2 by the people that made quake wars? Sign me up please!

Anyway, I am sure there is a thread for this already, but i was curious, since it seems that the same character is used for Brink in all its forms, willl you all be doing the campaign and co-op first, getting thru the learning curve and transitiioning over, or vice versa? Just wanted to know what all you OGs out there were planning on, because I wanna be where the action is at haha.

Also, im a fairly decent player at most games and would love to meet new people so if you are planning on playing Brink regularly on Ps3 add me, PSN ID: Raccaway (obviously it will be awhile) just send me a msg explaining that you read this on the Brink forums,

Thank you all and I am glad to be here, looking forward to May 10th!

I would have to do singleplayer for me. I like to get the feel of the story and quicker way to access more of the skills and abilities. Then again, next question should be....."What difficulty will you set bots too"? I see most people setting to easiest. Me....It's either hard or one down from it. :) :/

I'm likely going to start with the challenges if I can, otherwise SP just to get comfortable with the controls. Hopefully PSN will be up and secure so I can jump to MP whenever I want.

I'm going to start with single player, to get a hang of things. A majority of my time will be spent doing multiplayer with some RL friends, however.
