Site links from pinned thread: they work?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 7:55 pm

And submitted. May as well look over the other outdated threads now

Thanks but I hate to say ......... you need all the outside links to have the disclaimer page.

http://www.zenimax.com/external.php?locale=en-us&url=

That goes before the URL of the page you are linking to so the nexus link will be

http://www.zenimax.com/external.php?locale=en-us&url=http://www.tesnexus.com/

http://www.zenimax.com/external.php?locale=en-us&url=http://www.tesnexus.com/

In my understanding, this sticky should be what the title says: Where can I download/upload... everything else is "Other", IMHO.
I agree. It should be mentioned. That sticky needs to be updated with http://download.fliggerty.com/, since http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/index.php now has all of Emma's Morrowind mods and Grumpy's mods http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=90&sid=ec4fead84320ea2032ecb72189f440a5 there with Emma's >Oblivion mods except for Companion Vilja.

Thanks for that. Never knew that was there. Shouldn't take too long. Stay tuned

And boom.

deaths_soul, you did great already! Thank you very much! :)

Just to be sure: So your latest reworks/edits are in post #6, right? Just to clarify for any newcomers to the thread.

I will check some of the old links and the ones carried over to yours #6 tomorrow. Whenever #6 is "final" we need to ask Rohugh about getting the new list stickied. Probably open yet a new thread for it, as this one only got the ball rolling and may eventually become pretty cluttered.

We should make sure to refer to the original thread out of respect for the work of our predecessors, maybe even put the site names from the old list in a post #2 for continuity. Maybe with a brief comment like "not around anymore", "changed web address"... whatever.

Plus there may be some posts from the old sticky that may be good to include also in the new sticky. But I have not gone through the old one in detail yet.

Maybe rename the title somewhat.

Maybe append short comments behind the site links, where deemed sensible.
The history of Silgard Tower site may be worth conserving? What Andalaybay posted, basically.

Indicate the last update date.

Again thanks to all who have contributed here, and thanks to Rohugh for overseeing this!

Yep, "Edit 6" is the final.

Submitted it a few hours ago and it'll be updated tomorrow.

Possible, though it would look a bit odd I think. All but two I removed were dead with no sign of them. One was a database type site which was empty, it said "0 mods uploaded" or something. The other became nothing more than a fansite. But definitely refer to the original thread. Part of why I kept the original and just modified the links.

Went through all the posts. They were all mentioning what sites to put up there or mentioning they had gone down.

Update should be there. Don't know how I missed that. >.< No harm done, though. It won't be going in until tomorrow so I'll update now in the hopes I catch it in time. Woops

As for the rest, I'm not sure. Will watch the discussion, I guess. My mind is a bit exhausted at the moment. Busy day >_>

Edit:

Update date added (that sounds a bit strange :P)

Ahh, now I understand what killed the old links, it was because of that former disclaimer page. Ok, so even the new links will be in danger of breaking when there is the next major hosting update from gamesas.

Ok I went through the majority of the old links myself, and I think the links in current post #6 are really the ones to retain.

In the next post I will make a slightly edited version of deaths_souls post #6, which would be the new post #1 of the reworked sticky. I make the edits with the hope it may still improve on post #6. Of course you criticism is welcome!

In the post thereafter, I will propose a post #2 for the new sticky, which basically contains the history and changelog of post #1. I think this may result in a better presentation and readability of all the information.

So my idea would be that once we like the text and layout of proposed new post #1 and possibly #2, we ask the moderators if we can make a new thread with these and get it stickied, and the old sticky should get taken down/unstickied.

Once again, we owe deaths_soul a big Thanks for doing the grunt work of updating and purging the links!

Original thread intro by Blith Erring Idio:

Where can I upload/download Oblivion plugins/mods?

The following sites have generously offered to host mods for Oblivion. They are in no way affiliated with Bethesda and are under complete control of their respective owners. You can have your mods hosted by them and also visit them to get Oblivion plugins/mods.
Please remember that if you post here it must be an Oblivion Mod site, no other game mod sites are to be listed here... Thank you and please drive thru...

Just a reminder, folks. This thread is to be used ONLY for posting your Oblivion-related modsites. All other links will be removed. Do not post your site more than once, and do not use this thread for chitchat or questions. If your link needs updating, do not add another post. Instead, PM a Moderator and one of us will correct it for you. Thanks.

One more thing, please allow people to post their own links. If you know about a good mod and think it should be listed here, please ask the author if you can list it, as they may wish to do it themselves.

History and Changelog of Thread

Thread started - March 31, 2006
That was actually prior to the game being available, hm?

Update - February 1, 2007
This list can now also be used for modding resources, in addition to sites that contain plug-ins.

Update - June 2008
Added section of other Oblivion resources and tutorials sites

Update - January 24, 2012
Alright, the links are now fixed and I've removed the dead ones and a few that no longer host mods.

Edit 1: TES Alliance has now been added on to the list.
Edit 2: And so has TESCosi.
Edit 3: Beyond Oblivion moved to 'Other' since it doesn't really fit in with the rest, but it does appear to have some useful info still.
Edit 4: Added the new Silgrad Tower site under 'Other'.
Edit 5: Undid "Edit 4" as they've got a thread and it's really just their mods. Doesn't really seem to fit.
Edit 6: New disclaimer page added.
Edit 7: Change of layout, presentation
Edit 8: Added link to Construction Set Wiki, under 'Other'.

There is a few links that needs to be corrected right away.

http://www.zenimax.com/external.php?locale=en-us&url=http://http://download.fliggerty.com/ >> http://www.zenimax.com/external.php?locale=en-us&url=http://download.fliggerty.com/

https://www.zenimax.com/external.php?locale=en-us&url=http://sites.google.com/site/modelntexturing/home >> http://www.zenimax.com/external.php?locale=en-us&url=http://sites.google.com/site/modelntexturing/home

IIRC http://www.zenimax.com/external.php?locale=en-us&url=http://www.imperial-library.info/ are not a modding site there you can upload/download mods.

Yes, and that is why TIL is/was already listed under the 'Other' sites.

Edit: Is the layout of #34 and #35 acceptable? I think it is better than before.

Deaths_soul, please feel free to hijack/copy-paste #35 into a new post of yours and check on the links Leonardo mentioned. I checked on 2 of them quickly and they would not work indeed, but will not be able to seriously look into it today, as I just have some RL things going on later today.

I added a link for the Construction Set Wiki under 'Other'. That's a pretty essential link to know (Edit 8 in changelog).

Thank you, deaths_soul! :)

And Thank you for the update!

There is one site I know we still could add to the list. I just need to contact the boss there, see if he wants to be listed. I will report again, but will be tomorrow. See you!

Sounds good. Guess I'll look over the FAQ during my spare time for my next one. See if I can make it portable as well and all. Maybe we'll have most of the threads up there updated in a matter of weeks >_>

Re FAQ:
Deaths, to avoid double - or parallel rather - work, you may want to get together with Leonardo2 on this one. I think he is up to something with a rewrite of the FAQ already, to be put up on Tescosi if I understand correctly. But to have an updated FAQ here at Beth would be of course greatly welcome as well. Guess it would make sense to have the same text on both sites. :)

That's correct I'm up of something on TES Cosi, because I just got a green light from Tomlong to start with a new FAQ thread there. :tes:

Deaths_soul, just to let you know, I contacted the other website to ask if they want to be included. Now awaiting his reply, should not take long, he is fairly active also on the Beth forums.

Thereafter, I would think we are ready to bring in the moderators, see if we can get the existing sticky replaced with the new version. Other modsites could be added later in future small updates as necessary.

I'm happy to see that you and Leo are going to tackle the FAQ update, that is definitely needed too!

Sounds good.

It also looks like the sticky has been updated with the version before we had before I fixed the two links and you tidied it up. Shouldn't be too much of a problem updating it again, though, now that we're already in the swing of things. We'll worry about that when we're ready though. No point in worrying about it now :P And, yep, they can. We may want to discuss instead of updating the original post that a new one is posted so that we can regularly update it without bothering the mods whenever we need to get it done. But, as I said, that time will come. :)

Will need to do some digging to see what else should be updated as well. If done right, the other forums over here can benefit as well if we make them generic enough to cover most Beth games and games based on Beth games (such as New Vegas).

This should really help keep me busy now. :P

Thereafter, I would think we are ready to bring in the moderators, see if we can get the existing sticky replaced with the new version. Other modsites could be added later in future small updates as necessary.

I'm happy to see that you and Leo are going to tackle the FAQ update, that is definitely needed too!
If you wish you can copy every modsites I got http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1181935-how-to-improve-the-oblivion-faq-thread-1/page__view__findpost__p__17519761 a least it's the most popular in the TES community anyway. I now have an account on TES Cosi, but I've no idea how things works since I haven't work with it before so it could take some time for me to learn.

You best hold off on this for a bit, something seems to have changed over at Nexus.
