Site links from pinned thread: they work?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 6:43 pm

This won't take long.

Ok, so I tried to click on some of the site links provided in the "http://www.gamesas.com/topic/323218-where-can-i-uploaddownload-oblivion-pluginsmods/" sticky thread. And none of them from post #1 worked!?! Not even the one for Tesnexus... All of them give me HTTP:404 error....

Do the links work for you? Or is this some browser settings issue of mine? Thanks for some quick testing.

None of the above is the issue. The issue is that the link format changed when they changed the forums from elderscrolls to gamesas. As a result, all the links broke. They work if you remove everything before the site itself in the link. The format just needs to be updated, as in just the links need to be posted instead of the redirect they've got now, in order to work right. Someone needs to go in there and edit it.

Thanks deaths, that's what I thought... so that sticky is not exactly very useful as is...

Case closed.

Well, it's still useful in a way. Folks just need to know to delete everything before the second site in the URL.

Then again, we could just reformat it. Watch this space ;)

actually I am in the process right now to write a PM to Rohugh to ask what could be / need to be done to update those links (and possibly the whole sticky). I copy you in on my PM, maybe we get a chance to work on that.

The following sites have generously offered to host mods for Oblivion. They are in no way affiliated with Bethesda and are under complete control of their respective owners. You can have your mods hosted by them and also visit them to get Oblivion plugins/mods.
Please remember that if you post here it must be an Oblivion Mod site, no other game mod sites are to be listed here... Thank you and please drive thru...

Just a reminder, folks. This thread is to be used ONLY for posting your Oblivion-related modsites. All other links will be removed. Do not post your site more than once, and do not use this thread for chitchat or questions. If your link needs updating, do not add another post. Instead, PM a Moderator and one of us will correct it for you. Thanks.

One more thing, please allow people to post their own links. If you know about a good mod and think it should be listed here, please ask the author if you can list it, as they may wish to do it themselves.

Alright, the links are now fixed and I've removed the dead ones and a few that no longer host mods.

And quotable version:

Edit 1: And TES Alliance has now been added on to the list.
Edit 2: And so has TESCosi.
Edit 3: Beyond Oblivion moved to 'Other' since it doesn't really fit in with the rest but it does appear to have some useful info still.
Edit 4: Added the new Silgrad Tower site under 'Other'.
Edit 5: Undid "Edit 4" as they've got a thread and it's really just their mods. Doesn't really seem to fit.
Edit 6: Disclaimer page added.

Yes. Tomlong has been around for a long time and TESCosi is actually her second general help site.

And Silgrad Tower is gone. Most of the mods they were hosting have moved to our site, but we only host mods while they are in development, so I don't know if we qualify for that list. The public can't download mods from our site. We host mod teams so they can collaborate and exchange files while working on their mods.

Pretty sure it's just about done being updated for the immediate moment. If anyone sees something missing, say so. I'll give it some time until I submit it just in case something is missing.

Please see my previous post, above. Silgrad Tower (the web site) doesn't exist anymore and the link should be removed. Silgrad Tower, the mod, does exist, but they don't host other mods.

I'm glad you highlighted this one.
All the links given by Oscuro's thread to spoilers, incompatiblities, patches etc lead to dead ends also.
Hopefully the mods will sort this out soon.

No. Silgrad Tower is not gone they needed to change the hosting site. I also have the latest working link for the old site through the Wayback Machine.

First, it seems to be a site hosted in German. No problem for me, but don't know if it should be in the main section. Maybe under "Others"? with a comment that it is german?

And I cannot see any downloads there? Maybe I'm blind.... In my understanding, this sticky should be what the title says: Where can I download/upload... everything else is "Other", IMHO.

Works for me. Also, you can change the language at the top. Maybe it's due to your location?

Silgrad Modding is the forum for the Silgrad Tower mod. Silgrad Tower, the website that used to host other projects, was taken down by the site owner. We (Dark Creations) inherited all the mods that used to be hosted on Silgrad Tower.

Silgrad Modding does not host other mods, so by the definition of this list, it shouldn't be included.

After taking a closer look at it, I agree. It really doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the other entries.
