Sittable bench

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 3:58 am

I tried using an existing bench and just replacing the mesh, but that took away the little wireframe guys... How do I go about adding those? It doesn't list any markers... see the image below:

The Furniture markers are a part of the NIF file - you can easily copy paste the blocks from an existing seat into your NIF by right clicking on the BSFurnitureMarker and doing a block - copy Branch on an existing furniture NIF and then with your NIf open in a second instance of NIfskope highlight the 0 Ninode (this is so it will paste it as a child of the main NiNOde of the NIF) and then doing a right Click - Block - paste branch. Just look for a NIF with the proper number and placement of markers to copy (can be adjusted manually to different positions and add or subtract positions but is easier if you just use the correct one to copy paste.

If you need help figuring it out - upload the NIF somewhere and send me a Link via PM along with a description of what positions you want the bench to be able to be sat on (ie. just one or 2 and can be activated from all sides or just in front etc.) and I'll put it together and send to you.

I've actually done all of that in my time waiting for a reply... Although it now crashes the CS. It opens up perfectly in nifskope, however.

If you want to send me a Link to download the NIf - I'll take a look at it and see if I can find what might be wrong (why it is crashing the CS )

Fixed Nif was sent back through PM -- I tested it in the CS and it seems to be working now (no crash and the seating positions are where you wanted) -- Couldn't see what the problem was but just simply copy\pasting any of the Nitristrips into an existing Nif was making the CS crash - So I just imported the model into MAX and reexported which seems to have fixed the problem so I could then copy\paste the model into an existing NIF and setup the furniture markers. Let me know if there are any problems with it in game.

Got PM with problem and have made a new collision for the bench - that seems to be what the problem was (Tested in game and all seems fine now !) - You might want to add a third sitting position in the middle since the bench is fairly long so 3 could sit on it (would just need to duplicate one of the existing ones and paste it in and adjust the position to the middle of the bench) - Let me know if any other problems surface !
