six, children, and marriage

Post » Mon Sep 13, 2010 3:59 pm

No need for six in the game.... Players will just go on the web to improve their One-Handed skill.

Two handed in my case :teehee:

I think the question is, why do you have a need to make a post like this when it has been done many times already? Why would you even want to know if people want six in a computer game.
I find it pretty sad, that you ask the question but you can't even give us your answers. Tsk tsk.

What are you, twelve?

I'd be fine with the "fade to black" fallout style six wherein you don't see anything, no point in wasting quality animations on something irrelevant to gameplay. But I'd at least like to see minor six references in dialogue, the entire series seems to be completely abstinent and six devoid as if the concept doesn't even exist in nirn.

It's not like six entails some "creative" camerawork and animation. It's merely the concept of six, and reference to six that needs to be included in the game.

"Other" to all of them, like in NPCs having relationships, families and children.

Marriage: No
Children: none of your own.
six: optional like in Fallout, maybe some prosttutes to create immersion or something.

Children, they're already in

Marrige = Hell no.

six = Oh, sure lets go bang women and men whilst saving the world . I don't even want the screen fading out to black with disturbing, suggestive sounds in the background. What Bioware did was...well, it was uncalled for. You always see six in media, games where all the women have large briast, are hourglassed shaped BUT IT SHOULD NOT BELONG IN AN ELDER SCROLLS GAME.

I had thought it might be cool to have a son/daughter who could follow in their father`s footsteps and become a warrior of skyrim, perhaps even quest together.
Then i thought about how many years would have to pass to get them to an age whereby they would actually be tough and strong enough to survive. Unfortunately the world would most probably be eaten by then.

I guess you could "adopt" one of the companions included in game and look at them as your "protege" from a RP point of view. :)

There will doubtless be a naked Nord somewhere!

Marriage could be interesting if it's used to form political alliances. And I really hope there's some politics in the game, not just a lot of epic chopping of dragons.

Children - well, the bigger NPCs have to come from somewhere, so I'm fine with kids running around.

six - there were allusions to six in Oblivion - the The Siren's Deception quest in Anvil, and questions as to the legality necrophilia. But the game just skirted around the issue, which seemed a bit prudish to me. After a hard day killing Daedra I would have liked to go home for a bit of R&R with Eyja (even if she did have a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp), or just head out to the local house of ill repute. It would add another RP aspect. It may be hard to implement though; inter-species nooky may be a bit weird.

Why does any of this have to be like Fable though? I've never played it. So I'd have to vote 'other'.

I almost didn't vote here when I saw the only option for yes was "Like in Fable" .... seriously? Fable?

Still, I felt like writing, so here you have my opinion, like if it matters:

six? No thanks, not necessary. I wouldn't have six with any of the NPCs I've met in an Elder Scrolls game so far, and I doubt I'll be much more interest in NPCs in Skyrim. Sure, they can improve AI to the extreme compared to Oblivion, but they're not gonna be able to create characters you're gonna have a believable relationship with. Without a believable relationship leading up to the six, the six itself is just gonna feel random no matter how well they do it, and then I don't want it.

Marriage? Again - no believable relationships --> marriage being pointless. If you're gonna play house and pretend your woman talks to you and stuff in the game, which is gonna be necessary since NPCs will have very limited conversation options, you might as well pretend there's a marriage too. If you have trouble pretending, download a mod.

Children? Yes, I want children in the game -- but I don't want the PC to have any. It's the same thing as the above -- your kids aren't gonna be very interactive, so I don't see the point in having them there.

edit: And I hereby declare that this is the last of this kind of redundant poll/thread I'll be posting in in 2011. After the game's been out a while and my forum quarantine is over and we've all hopefully found that Skyrim doesn't have player marriages, child-making or porm, I might drop by to shout "Yes! I told you Bethesda wouldn't be that stupid" and then avoid all the marriage, child-making and porm mods that will have come out by that time.

I don't want any of those. I suspect one day we'll get them in TES though, seeing as how most ES players play the game like a medieval simulator more than anything else.

Yes to all of them. Although I agree with Mankor that if they're too lazy to make spears then don't take the time to make six and marriage. But the TES games are too full of combat/battle oriented scenarios, even though I realize that's what the main focus of rpgs is. Even so, six and marriage and having children would add much more diversity and realism to the game because just like in real life, I too can have six and get married.

six no reason why but they might doo something like the prostitution in fallout if it’s fit with the setting, mainly so the moders has something to plug into.

Do want some flirty dialogue and catcalls then appropriate.

Children not your own, ok with kids around if less annoying than in fallout.

Marriage, as it’s impossible to do well skip it, however a wedding party between npc might be cool as a event, perhaps as the end of a quest chain.

...and just like in rel life I can go out dressed in Daedric armour, find a sword in a cave and kill dragons and other assorted monsters. This is a fantasy game, real life doesn't come into it. If there are a few hints at six and kids kicking around being a pain (like Fallout New Vegas where (IMO) it was handled well) then that will be OK, if they are not there I will get on playing what the game has to offer.

Yes to six and inter-racial romance, that would be great to have especially if the family of the partner you chose don't agree with your relationship you can a) do chores for them and try to persuade them 2) poison their food c) sing until you kill them all d) dump the [censored] and find one with bigger boobs and no family.

Children- YA!!!!

six- eww

Marriage- eh why not. i mean as long as you don't have to do too much... the real world with wives is good enough..... nevermind... no marriage. then that would mean six...

A more appropriate answer:
six - YA!!
marriage - eww
children - why not?

I heard that children are already in, but I think OP actually meant children being born from PC. The answer to that question would be NO.
Marriage and children are opposite of adventuring, which is what TES is really all about. We're trying to get away from them there; when we play the game, we immerse ourselves in a fantasy world where we can forget our miserable reality with wife and children, and have a great time messing around.
Now, six, that's a different story. If the six has to do with relationship or even marriage, that's a no. But I think I'll be OK with a town [censored] you can hire for few hours while you're in town.

Fable TLC pulled it off pretty well. It was a decent game and marriage, children, and six just happened to work in it.
Marriage and six would NOT work in TES (unless Bethesda decided to change the style of TES completely to make it more like Fable, and although I do love Fable I DO NOT want that to happen)

Fable III was just absolute trash, by the way. The game wasn't even the RPG I wanted when I preordered originally. If they were going to do marriage and six, I'd prefer it be done the Fable TLC way instead. But like I said, I don't want that to happen.

The minimum amount of development effort to do the subject justice is far more than I believe it would add to the game. Doing a half-way measure would be awful.

Children could add a lot to the realism of the towns, but I don't think that "having children" is what the game is about, or should deal with.

The subject of six in a video game is a difficult one, and again, would probably not be worth the time to implement well. I'd rather see the topic skirted around and hinted at than done badly.

No - I generally prefer games not to have six scenes, but it wont stop me from buying Skyrim.
Other - Children are already in. I assume they'll be like Fallout kids.
Other - I dont care either way.

Why do all the 'Yes' options say 'like Fable 3'? Not sure about you, but I found Fable's world very.. Bland.
