six, children, and marriage

Post » Mon Sep 13, 2010 12:55 pm

I rather not have children in the game because I don't like unkillable NPCs. I don't want to kill children in the first place, but I don't like the Unkillable NPC which I beileve is in the game. Also for some reason, Bethesda likes to make children annoying in games so it was refreshing not to see any in Morrowind or Oblivion.

If the children are like in Fallout 3, then no thank you please. :toughninja:

So....... how do you know the children are not killable in Fallout 3? Did you try? What would have happened if you did kill one of them? Apparently you did want to kill the children, otherwise you would not know :chaos:

Just kidding. In all seriousness though, I understand what you're saying. However, you don't have to go around killing everyone. I think it is a good idea to have some people (in this case children) that are not killable. I don't see how they were annoying in FO3...... They never did anything. Maybe talk to you every once in a while, but it's not like they followed you like a lost puppy. :hugs:

Definetly want to see, meet and interact with characters of all ages, I guess raising them is something that can defietly be left out, changing my vote on "having" kids!

I have all 3 in real life. I'm not paying money to play a marriage simulator.

Quite honestly, I don't really care. I wouldn't mind it being in there if they made it work well. It just doesn't seem like it'd fit well with the Elder Scrolls universe, but I could be wrong. If they could put it in there somewhere, and make it work well, then sure that'd be great. If not, so what? I would rather they avoid it than do it an fail though. Take Fable, sure it sounds awesome at first, but then you realize how utterly pointless it is. It doesn't really even seem like you have a family it's just some chick you can bang, and a bunch of kids running around saying, "Daddy you're home! Did you bring me a present?"

The most I want is the ability to flirt with other NPCs. Anything else is not needed, for me at least.

For those so inclined, or have an interest in such things, http://www.vikinganswerlady.com/wedding.shtml discusses Viking Era courtship, love and marriage.

For [censored]s sake, where did all the Fablefreaks without a romantic/love life of their own come from. Get a girlfriend for petes sake or go play the friggin Sims. This is an RPG not a life simulation.
Are you saying you don't have a life because you wanna play a rpg?

Nope. No to all. I want a badass action RPG, not a sad fantasy Sim for basemant [censored] with nothing else to do.

It's always fit into Fable because it's just plain hilarious. It's goes with Mass Effect because Bio does it in a cinematic, subplot fashion that really ads to the game. Adding it to TES would just be tacking on one more feature to satisfy those looking for a replacement to life.

If I want romantic relationships in a game there are other games that do that quite well. I just don't think it would work very well in an Elderscrolls game, nor is it needed. And if the devs were to add it at this point, it would feel really tacked on.

you do realize that you cant have all three of them together. if your married and have kids you dont get any six. if you are having six and then have kids then you get married and no longer have any six. if you are married and have six and have kids.....then your back to no six.

I think the greatest extend I would agree with for a game like this would be a loving-companion relationship, or even close friends--but no six/nudity/or children. Not because it doesnt belong or couldnt be done, but just because it wont be done well and will just seem cheesy and insulting to real relationships.

Honestly, no offense to Beth, but I dont think they make their money writing romance dialogues.

And I dont know much about the Fable "marriages", but from every single source I've gathered that it is nothing short of a joke.

New Vegas was full of six, so why not? Black screen and some sound effects worked just fine for it.

Children, as in PC's own, won't work since you can play with a female character. Having them being born years earlier would take away from the freedom of character TES is known for.

As for marriage, i don't see them writing a romance so good that it would feel natural. It could be have some interesting perks if done right, but i don't see Bethesda having what it takes. No offense :)

And I want to join the prosttutes Guild. Easy money, and guaranteed interesting questline :P

Don't like six in games or movies. Who has time for a wife when you're saving Skyrim?

Okay.

There should be some definitions provided for polls like this one.

Do I want six in the game? Certainly. sixual intercourse? No. 'six' is present any time you have more than one gender; as in men should be men, women should be women.....not skinny men with boobs. Which does -not- mean women can't be warriors. Go to any decent sized SCA event and watch. But there should be an awareness of gender variance: that includes stupid customs, some places where women have to do twice as much to get half the credit (and a place or two where the men have to face the same thing). Definitions are needed simply because what the readers assume 'six' means varies. Radically. I can quite easily parse out six, nudity, intercourse as very separate things. They can interrelate, but they are not glued together to the exclusion of all else. Others can't. Even more can only partially separate them. And so on....

The question about having children as the PC gets very sticky; as part of a main quest, or a sub-quest, it might be worth the trouble.....but you would have to create the situation and force the PC to go along with it. Which pretty much defeats the idea of a sandbox game. Same with marriage. It should be in there amongst the NPC's, as should offspring and flirting and getting caught in flagrante delicto if you broke into their home at 1 in the morning. But the story crafting needed to insert the PC into much of that would hamper the free roaming TES is famous for.....

Plus we have Duke Nukem Forever in May for the juvenile humor and potty jokes...... :D

Why are there so many "I don't want this to be like Fable 2 or 3"

It doesn't have to be like that. Fable 2 and 3 were horrible in romance and children.

Also, even though the majority of platers may be guys, some are girls (like me.)

And I loved romance in Dragon Age, Mass effect etc. and I think it would be awesome to have romanceable characters.

Come on, really. This thread was good as dead. I don't know the hate some have with romance, but I just don't fill it goes with TES. If it was introduced I wouldn't mind though.

I've said this before, I think it works: kill the parents, kid disappears. There, no problems. Evil characters can level a city and have the satisfaction of knowing nothing is alive.

we have talked about this before so many times, the frustration from seeing another thread about this drills a hole into a persons head better than a bullet.

This is Fable's bag, not TES. Adding marriage and six would just make it seem like you should be rooted down to whichever town your SO lives in. Children spark a mess of controversies and flamebates on this forum that it stopped being funny LONG ago.

Leave the stuff that made Fable with Fable, and just pick up your sword (or mace, spell, bow, ect.) and go hit something.

Yes to all but six, six wouldn't add anything to the experience, because it would just be cheesy noises on a black screen (if it were any more it'd be banned in Australia and I don't want that)
References though (like Morgiah giving Mannimarco her 'first' in Daggerfall :hubbahubba:) is perfectly acceptable.

Children should be in it, I don't know about marriage, but if implemented correctly then maybe it could work, not in the Fable way though, as good as it was, it wouldn't suit Skyrim, which is more dark and serious.

EDIT: There has been WAY too many threads on six already though
