As many others have said, I'd be fine with an (optional) romance or two, so long as they were well written with believable characterisation. Actual (fantasy) six as part of them is generally unnecessary and often bizarre and implausible. Usually the romance part of games simply doesn't have enough effort put into it, nor enough writing talent, to make it a satisfactory part of the story. Still, Dragon Age and Mass Effect showed that it can be reasonably amusing (especially if the dialogue is well acted) and inoffensive.

If any romance were very well written, and made sense in the context of the story, then I'd be all for it.

The Witcher's romances were well written into the storyline, though they were fairly creepy (fitting in with Geralt's creepy personality). A good example of a better but misjudged effort being (arguably) worse than the usual disposable romance-lite of American RPGs. The 'gotta bed 'em all' card collecting game was cringe-worthy dross of the lowest order.

Bethesda have showed no interest in doing romance (unless you count Ahnassi in Morrowind), and I suspect they couldn't do it properly if they tried. It'd be nice to be surprised, though :D.

From the male point of view, nothing speaks against giving female players their share of decent objectification.

Male guard: "Stop citizen! What do you hide beneath those skirt of yours? Follow me and reveal to the eyes of the law!"

Maybe guards should be playable (at least when there will be a coop mode). With voice chat for immersion.

I think it's ironic how we are all in a role playing game's discussion forum and the primary argument against six being added to the game is that it's pointless.

Indeed :lmao:

I have deleted a number of posts referencing child killing. Do not bring this up again as it is a restricted topic on these forums.

It's not ironic, because playing a roleplaying game is not the same as playing a "real life simulation", in the opinion of many people here.

I don't want six implemented in the game as something the player can do just for fun. Why? Because it's boring. My immersion-o-meter doesn't go up by 1% if I watch my character have six. In any case, this is what the poll is about, so I voted "No" and "It's childish" (because I find the notion that six should be a game feature childish).

I agree with Sophosaurus that six should be used for atmosphere though, with mostly all the things he mentioned; that is a completely different story, however.

*Looks at Bioware's fascination with six*
*Looks at Lionhead's joke of "six"*
*Looks at infamous mods for Oblivion and Fallout 3*

What would six bring to Skyrim? Anything? I honestly can't see any gains from sleeping with characters at all in such a world. And yet if it's available, it will be shoved in your face every so often just for the sake of respecting its very use.

Honestly, I don't play the Elder Scrolls for six. I play it to slash up enemies and become an epic hero. I don't need to see or hear my epic hero doing the nasty. Simply put.

Then I look back at the use of "six" in Fallout 3 and laugh... if that's all Bethesda is willing to do on the subject, then why bother. Leave it for the mod community to handle it. They'll satisfy your need for six - and then some.

So no, I don't want Bethesda to worry about six in Skyrim. And I must admit that this is a bit childish. Why? Because if you need to ask other people if six should or shouldn't be included in a game then you're likely certain or curious as to whether others are as comfortable with six as you or not, or to see if they WANT it as much as you. So yeah, bit immature.

This is a good point. We should definitely involve literature and DISCUSSION about sixual intercourse in the game. Be totally comfortable with revealing that x Baron had an affair with y mistress. But that's all I need it to be - a part of the culture. I don't need to have my own character take part in an act that is SUPPOSED to be a very personal and intimate experience.

I am in favor of six in skyrim, not for personal pleasure, but for immersion.

The badass berserker nord should get laid fairly often from a RP point of view!

It has absolutely no place in TES, this is not a Bioware game. Plus, I completely don't see the appeal of pixelated characters having fun for your "viewing pleasure". I mean, I can understand some sort of relation as in Kotor games, but otherwise what's the point? I thought it was made in rather poor taste in Mass Effect 2.

I agree, do it properly or don't do it all. New Vegas has it a bit better.

IMHO, Mass Effect (the first) did it right, but that sort of cutscenes wouldn't fit, at all, to the game, assuming it's like Oblivion and Fallout 3.

Well I guess it all comes down to preference. If the question was whether you want NPCs to eat in the game or not, I doubt you'd find any significant opposition to the idea. It's basically the same thing, a tool for immersion. And I'm not talking about direct-view, hot-coffee-like six scenes because you do not necessarily need to watch as your player eats a slice of nix-hound meat or chucks down a potion either. That is not needed in all cases, you can simply use your imagination and assume that the gulp sound means you drank the potion and the screen fading to black means you had six with that person.

But I'm getting sidetracked. My point is that I find it strange many would make this a question of morality and not even realize it themselves, instead saying it's pointless.

Couldn't care less, and I think it can be immature if done distastefully, but it can also be a good addition to the immersion/atmosphere if done right and seldomly.

Mass Effect is a good example. Some Oblivion and Fallout mods are not.

If it's in, okay. If not, that's okay too.

It could be rather tastefully done. Personally in a sandbox game the more options for things to do the better. And just like Oblivion, this game is going to be rated Mature one way or another. Might as well make it worthy of such a rating.

First off... I don't care.

Whether it's immature or not depends on the way it's implemented in game.

That's exactly the way I see it.

Being able to have six with NPCs? Sure thing. Make it like the Fallout series, with a fade to black.

Adding prosttutes add a lot to the atmosphere. After all, the Thieves Guild is behind the prostitution business in Tamriel. Being able to save a prosttute from Thieves Guild thugs would be an interesting quest.

It can easily be done in a mature way, as it was done in Daggerfall, Fallout 1-2-New Vegas. Seeing prosttutes in the streets of a city's slums add to the desperate and unsafe atmosphere of the area. Because you know that where there's a prosttute, you're most likely in Thieves Guild territory. (And the Guild is not all Robin Hoods like in Oblivion. :P )

Then there are courtesans in more presentable establishments where those with good coin can pay for pleasure.

I think it's completely unnecessary but it wouldn't bother me too much if it were in the game. but meh, there are other games for doing that.

...become an epic hero...
Good point. TES is about becoming an epic hero, and that is, why there has to be an epic world that must not look and feel as clean as a holyday camp where everyone respects women and avoids unclean speach and thought. The people have to be rough and mature. Beeing a hero also includes some attitude. I must confess that i keep some female companions in my house in skingrad. I rarely take them with me when it's time for the man's work of slashing up enemies. Speaking of six in games, it is not the action that counts. There have to be the vibes of it. Minigames or real sixual interaction would surely ruin it.

I loved the tavern at the beginning of the last Bards Tale. Some maid as provocative as can be, nearly attractive but harsh, dialogues mature and funny. The singing drunks made me love that game. The oldest RPGs had noisy taverns full of bearded people and cheap maids. I really don't know why games should be that much different from movies.

While six is a normal and natural part of life, I don't feel its necessary in a video game setting. From my experience, it generally seems to serve as a marketing ploy rather than something which benefits game play. At this rate, RPGs are in danger of becoming closer to dating sims than anything else..

I personally like the six mods, I wont lie, it adds one more element of real life to a game, one that I can, if I wish, partake of or leave alone as I wish, the option is what I want, not for it to be integral to the story or a need in hardcoe mode if their is 1 implemented, but options is what life is all about, the decisions we make or dont make, and their repercussions, tho they dont always have to be repercussions that we need know of or see, but walking past a house of ill repute, or a temple dedicated to the desires of the flesh, knowing I could if so desired go in and partake, makes the reality of the game more alive, as much as drug use or booze in a game should be options, or killing off a whole town for no real reason except I want to, or 1 of the guards have the armor I want lol. BTW I also include tasteful nudity to this statement.

BioWare actually got in a lot of trouble with the partial nudity scenes with the selling of the game (it was banned in some parts of the world). Which is why in Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2, BioWare definitely censored the action a bit to make it more PG. As some other suggested, the only benefits to having such a mechanic would be for atmospheric/immersion purposes.

six is an integral part of human nature. It is also arguably - not really, no - the most important thing in the world. Almost everything has six in it, directly, subconsciously or semiotically.

So of course, as long as it is within the storyline or general feeling.

Developers shouldn't put mini six games but they shouldn't back off from it, if six is meaningful within the context.

I agree. I don't want ES to shy away from everything related to it.
There's quite a few "yes" votes in the poll, but only a couple of posts that say the same. I voted "yes" and no, I don't see why it would be immature. According to some people here, that makes me a deprived pervert. I think it would add to immersion as well as add new role-play possibilities.

While I'm not against it being an option, I personally wouldn't take advantage of it.

I said it's childish because of my level of confidence in saying it will be abused. I trust Bethesda not to remind us of it every five seconds if it is implemented, but I doubt they will implement it. I don't however trust the immature gamers not to remind us of it every five seconds.
