sixism in Skyrim!

Post » Fri Aug 30, 2013 10:38 am

Bethesda has always touted equality among the sixes in its latest release, Skyrim. But I, Lord Bhaal, True Champion of Hermaeus Mora, have found blatant sixual inequality in Skyrim!

How come all the master vampires are male??? Not a single master classed vampire in the game is female!!!

Come, my vampiric brothers and sisters, we must stand together, and demand this glass ceiling be broken!

Note: free vials of blood for all those who attend. Human cattle will also be available, courtesy of our sponsor, Volkihar Keep. :D

What u talkin' about Willis?

The Imperial armor only has males, while one of their leaders is female.

No generic Legionnaires are female either. I don't think it is sixism though. Seems more like an oversight in the case of the Master Vampires(like the Stormcloak Officer boots not belonging to the.set, and being affected by heavy armor perks). On the Legionnaires I have no idea. Could be a hint of realism, since women rarely became soldiers in most of history.

They lack the test levels to become a master. It's not sixism if it's biology.

IIRC all the assets for female legionaries are present along with elven males, just unused. Look into the mod Legionettes by MadCat221 for more info.

Skyrim is totally sixist - which is why I'm never playing a male character again. All the powers/active effects that let you do 10% more damage against the opposite six pretty much render a male PC pointless. I think my current PC has something like two of these abilities so she's doing 20% more damage against men (who are, by far, the vast majority of the baddies).

The funny thing is that when you play a female character and loot the bodies of male baddies, you often find women's clothes. So it looks like most of the male baddies are picking up dry cleaning on the way home or are cross-dressers. Who knew...

I ought to remind you that Nightmaster Vampires, the most powerful ones in the game, can be female.

In fact, most of the NMs that I have encountered were female.

Nightlord Vampires, Volkihar Vampires, and Ancient Vapires are exclusively female.

Master, Volkihar Master, and Nightmaster Vampires are exclusivley male.

The other sub-types are mostly female.

70% of vampires you encounter are female.

I'm fairly certain vampire bosses being men exclusively is a Dracula reference; Dracula had three female vampiric servants styled as either his children or his wives.

The Legion probably has only men because Bethesda wanted to use different voice types so that the opposing soldiers would sound different; Stormcloaks have officers with the MaleNordCommander voice and soldiers with the MaleNord and FemaleNord voices; the Legion has officers with the MaleCommander (and FemaleCommander for Rikke) voice and soldiers with the MaleSoldier and MaleYoungEager voices.

An unused voice type with no lines called FemaleSoldier suggests that the Legion would've originally employed more women, but Bethesda cut the voice type, possible because it was too similar to the FemaleCommander voice and contrast was wanted during civil war quests that involved Rikke.

Actually Skyrim is surprisingly liberal. I mean seriously, a DENCH Nord with a heavy ass sword should be able to destroy a lanky woman wielding a the same weapon.

But back to your point it was probably just an oversight. Look at the game. Females are included in almost everything there is no sixism.

About the legion thing, what about Rikke?
