sixuality In Fallout 3

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:40 am

You're thinking of Michelle. She was the only one of Nico's girlfriends I liked....if I were in that position I wouldn't have handled how it ended like he did.

As far as six and relationships in FO3, it seems like everyone but the LW is getting some. I'm not interested in digital porm in games but there is no way a 19 year old thrust out into the real world like the LW is will not run into the issue sooner or later. A normal 19 year old male gets excited whenever the wind blows...and long before BS is concluded he'll be the closest thing to a rock star in the CW. If you strip it down to bare biology, a woman will be looking for a man strong enough to protect her and her children...and a man who can do that holds out the promise of fathering children who will be strong and healthy and able to take care of her in her old age. If that instinct works for a perverted lout like Dukov to keep women, imagine how much interest the LW..who has defeated entire armies by himself...would be getting from single women all across the CW, especially if he has Good or Very Good karma. A good LW would be able to find a wife or long term lover easily..a bad one would find plenty of opportunities to break hearts. Even a evil LW would still have Clover, who is by Eulogy's account very sixually aggressive towards her owner.

I don't want to go too far off topic, but I gotta say that Michelle got on my nerves. I would drive to the pier at top speed, dive out of the car before the end, and drown her in the ocean.

I didn't thing there was 'sixuality' in the game.

There's a guy with a polygamous 'family' set up, and a guy living with two girls...the last one might not be mainstream, but it's far from uncommon.

The game gives enough subtle theme about things without being direct or explicit.

I wouldnt mind gettin' freaky with some of the mens in Wasteland.
Especially that Gob. hmmmmmm yeahhhh.
Obviously some people are having babies, those nasty brats in LittleLamplight came from somewhere.
I think it would be nice if you could get knocked up then send your spawn the L.L. or even play as them.....

But this isn't The Sims.

Like the gay Butch thing WordPlay mentioned, I didn't get what you're describing from Bittercup, either. I kinda got that she's an inexperienced gal who moves from 'relationship' to 'relationship' (For relationship read: schoolyard sweethearts with little to no contact, and more an exchange and trying on of titles 'boyfriend' girlfriend' than anything physical) because when things become a little too advlt, she drops out, and moves on again. Flash and stuff like the idea, but when they get heavy Bittercup backs off. Her reaction to a male PC taking her up on her flirts scares the bejesus out of her, me thinks. She's just an inexperienced kidlet.

Isn't she? Anyone else get that, or was that just me?

Its more than likely what was intended, it just literally didn't occur to me until you pointed it out.

I was actually surprised by the lack of it. I would have thought the post-apocalyptic world would have been filled with brothels, shady strip joints and a abundance of prosttutes. six sells and running a place like this in the wasteland would earn you a whole lotta caps. I think it could have added to the general theme if it was implemented right. I'm not saying there should be XXX scenes in the game or anything mind you, but in most apocalyptic fiction you find this sort of thing so I was kinda expecting it. I really didn't care that there wasn't any, but I thought that the little there was, was implemented poorly. I mean I can splatter the brain matter of an old lady all over the wall and rob her corpse, in a apocalyptic wasteland with no strip joints or ladies of the night trying to get as many caps from me as possible. I guess its down to not being able to be sold in some countries which are small-minded when it comes to sixuallity yet have little problem with blowing peoples faces off..

However, before everyone starts calling me a perv, I'd just like to say that I wasn't bothered by the lack of sixuallity at all. I just kinda expected to see it in the game, and if it was there, and implemented properly, I think could have helped sell the overall apocalyptic feel of the game.

We are starting to see nudity in games now, and to be honest, I really don't have a problem with it if its done right, just like film and TV, games that are for advlts, should be able to contain similar content to Film and TV. For me, not many games need or would be helped by have sixual scenes, however, it could have worked for Fallout.

It was handled well in The Darkness. My mouth dropped open. The idea of romance, and then this breath-taking violent sequence that removes the object of the game character's affection - his girlfriend - from the game, was pretty epic.

The Darkness is still one of my favorite games on the 360 to date. The story is epic.

Dukov's place worked well, although I do wonder where the hell he got that statue from...

Fallout 3 would've been cool if you could end up making falling in love and even having a kid... I would love the love interest more though so not so sure about having the kid.

like fable 2!
and in fable 2 if you were a female while you were pregnent you were fat and bad in battle.
But than they removed that from the final game :(.
they made the baby be born instantly.
well anyway they should do something like that.

I don't think it would really need any actual six in it, but I would have thought that a post-apocolyptic wasteland would have more of that sort of thing. Having romance like in Dragon Age or Fable would have been nice though.
Oh, and for the people who think that there isn't anything sixual in fallout 3, what about the brothel in evergreen mills?

honestly, i dont much care. its not like i wont buy a game, just cuz there's some innuendos in it, but sixuality is not needed to make a game good. just look at the COD, Gears, and Halo series. no sixuality, and still very popular games.

well, a good game doesnt require it, but with it, the rpg game can be more immersive. Look at Dragon age or Mass effect, Bioware did it very well with sixuality that it doesn't look digusting or awkward. and fits into story perfectly.

I think Fallout 3 struck a good balance. There are a number of NPCs that discuss or imply sixual relationships and many of them are more 'normal' or at least more table than Ronald Laren in Girdershade or Dukov. I think they could have included a bit more prostitution, not necessarily that the PC could get involved with but I think they could have still kept the setting realistic and had more people (male and female) trading six for security/livelihood.

Dukov was a bit over the top but then he's an over the top character so I didn't mind him. If he's too much for you he's easy to ignore, you can even do the one quest he's part of without seeing him. I certainly wouldn't want a whole bunch of Dukov-type characters in the game but then I also wouldn't want multiple Vaults in the mold of 108 and I loved Vault 108. :)

I had fun with Ronald, when he talked to me about getting in that Nuka Cola collectors pants and I used Black Widow and told him that I would join in too (I have a female charachter) and he ran off excitedly to get his stash of Nuka Cola Quantam from the factory I followed him and protected him from Giant Radscorpians all the way to the factory, as soon as he entered the factory he got fried and I sat there and picked up his corpse looted it and threw it around like a toy (a little morbid but he didn't deserve a restful death) Then when I went back and told his girl that he was just in it to get into her pants she replies with 'don't be silly, he wouldn't fit in my pants' :biglaugh:

Dukov was another strange one, he reminds me of a younger Hugh Heifner (sp?) totally over the top, but when he kept on boasting about his skill with his gun I couldn't help but blow his head clean off his shoulders with my trusty Combat Shotgun, this sent his concubines scurrying..... the strange thing was when I needed something off him in a later quest he suddenly reappeared back to life and I found him lying in his trusty bed with a broad and I got to kill him all over again!

I think these sort of charachters actually add alot to the game, its what gives FO3 its unique feel and atmosphere.

In a RPG game six is a must. I don't care about nudism, animated six, or even a cut scene. they can just fade out when it happens for all I care. I'm talking about using six to accomplish things in a game.

In Fallout2, when some gang stole your car, you could get the car back by having six with the leader. There were many other similar things to do with six. With the RestorationProject, things that couldn't be finished in time were also implemented to the game. Like you start the game with the Virgin perk, and the perk changed progressively over things you did, opening up new options (together with new skills) when doing quests.

In Fallout3, for example if they had paid enough attention to detail, you could have the option to have six with a guy that doesn't want to join you because you have too high karma. But before being able to do this, you would have to learn e few tricks by doing it with several other guys which would have given you a perk. I'm not a game designer, but from what I've seen in the old Fallout games, these kinds of things should have remained in Fallout3, and even improved further...

Every small detail counts.

PS: Don't compare a "Role Playing" games with mindless shooters that are just new age "shoot'em up" games.

Deadbeat dads? Huh?

If anything, it's deadbeat moms (or more numerously outright DEAD moms).

For motherless children, we have...

the Player
Amata
Harden Simms
Sarah Lyons
Sydney
Derek Paicon
Angela Staley
Brian Wilks

For children with abusive mothers, we have James Hargrave.

I made a topic way back when on the apparent matricidal tendency of the game devs...

I think the matricidal tendency is a bit overblown. It could be that having a child in the Wastes is just really physically straining. With no real adequate facilities, countless risks of infection, as well as radiation, I'm sure mothers tended to die after giving birth as a result. And yes I know people have been giving birth since the first mammal but think about it: it's a doubly unsanitary and irradiated environment. Little things like that can affect the mother in so many ways. Not to mention, since there aren't that many healthy foods for a child, the placenta might have been modified biologically so that it can transfer a lot more nutrients to the baby while taking them away from the mother, giving us malnourished pregnant women.

Anyway, sixuality in Fo3 can be funny and necessary at times. I think it's funny that female character hits on Bittercup and she goes out there getting me crap.
