PC sixuality in Fallout 4

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 9:50 am

But what if I wanted to play a married mother who found herself frozen in time and awoke 200 years later to a completely different world?

Would it have been better if 111's tutorial was that we were just some random hobo that snagged a Vault 111 ticket, snuck into the Vault and wound up being put into sleep?

Could easily roleplay that you are bi but choose the opposite gender because of love/other reasons. Is it great no because it's a flaw of a preset character but it's probably the best solution.

Headcanoning that your character was bearding in a fake relationship at the start of the game is not a solution. Whatever logical leaps you're forced to make to actually create the character you want, straight or gay just goes to show heterosixist thinking and I expect better from Bethesda who have payed a ton of lip service to player freedom over the years. This is a gross step backwards.

Honestly, I do not see anything wrong right now. I mean, we have nothing on the backstories of the partners (The pcs as I think we play as one of the two partners/spouses) except they had a kid together and got married. For all we know, they had homosixual affairs on each other and are actually bisixual.

Also, isn't sixual orientation in most fallout games HEADCANON anyways?

Well good for them then. They wanted a traditional family at the beginning of the game and they made one. Not catering to the loudest 3% of the population is a good thing IMO. If you can't come up with a imaginative solution in your own mind then why are you even playing RPG's?

You can use any headcanon you want. Maybe your character had a rich parent who left a will stating that you would only inherit the family fortune if married with a child, which is why you could afford that snazzy robot and a place in the vault.

Your character hasn't been defined. Only two things you have to deal with ... you were around before the war and you once had a family. Anything else is fair game.

These kinds of topics always manages to get posts that potentially end up closing the thread. This is the only reminder and warning that this is a PG13 forum. Please post responsibly as to not offend or disgust other forum members regarding sixuality. Some unecessary posts have gone away and this thread will be watched.

Hold your horses you are ASSUMING you can't be a same six couple.

As I posted earlier...

I saw the option for changing six on a character, did that just change who stood in front of the mirror or did that change the six of the person in front of the mirror? If it changed the six of the person in front of the mirror it could allow you to make same six couples with a child. how did they get a child? presumably they adopted, used a surrogate or a sperm donor depending on gender and or your own head canon. (Note the head cannon I reference is only to explain how a same six couple have a baby.)

There is no definative information about orientation right now.

It changed who stood in front of the mirror. You can play as the wife or the husband, but the family composition doesn't change. It's a heterosixual marriage.

Maybe not. If I ever work up enough, "give a [censored]" I might crank up a Gray Panther [censored]storm.

I'm quite sure they'll go all read-dead-redemption on us on this one. meaning, since the PC already has a wife or husband, and even a baby, they simply can't allow themselves morally to be unfaithful, despite the other person and baby most certainly being dead since ages ago.

Why should they start catering to the gay community? They don't cater to the deaf, to the crippled, the small peeps, to people with speech impediments...

And I'm 100% sure there are deaf/half deaf and crippled members on these boards (I've seen them post) and they did not complain at all.

If it bothers you that much, use your imagination, or don't play. You're not that special. This is the story for FO4, deal with it.

I kinda agree. It is a work of fiction. That has, you know, characters.

Can't please everybody/

Or they could just drop the stupid, hand holding beginning narrative, obviously made for the unimaginative.

Yep. I'm partially blind in one eye and mostly deaf yet you don't see me complaining that we're once again playing a MC with two working eyes and ears. Some things just aren't worth pitching a fit over. In any event, I just role-play if I want my dude to be blind in one eye, or my gal to be hearing impaired. Not that difficult. My Breton Mage in Skyrim is blind, for example. I use my imagination along with the lore to help figure out how she moves about the world and read books (she reads a copy for the blind while I read the written one on screen, or she uses some kind of spell to procure the knowledge directly into her brain or something.)

Use your imagination. I once role-played a gay character in Oblivion and even though the mechanics didn't allow me to, I still took my male mage character and his mage companion to the alter at the Chapel of Talos like they were getting married and moved into his home in Bruma. It really isn't that difficult.

That's what made F:NV so great for RP'ing.

You were a courier and that's it. Fill in any back story from there as you please.

Yes, and they had to put a bullet into the Courier's head to do it, and you still wind up finding out little tidbits of your past that conflict with the backstory you had developed.

Lonesome Road doesn't give you any real background on your character, other then you delivered a package to the area once before. Which falls in line with the whole concept of being a courier.

Having a set background is very annoying.
