PC sixuality in Fallout 4

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 8:25 pm

So do people think that the fact that you pick a man or a woman in a heterosixual relationship with a baby means that you can't have a homosixual romance in the game? It means that your character presumably can't be homosixual but perhaps the option for bisixuality is still there?

Eh does it matter? i doubt there will be "romance" in the game to be honest. Now knocking boots with hokers? Good chance. I gotta assume they'll add male and female prosttutes for you to mess around with. Id just assume that if you play a gay character you'll just have been living in the closet because of the prewar social standards, and come out once you realize no one in the wastes cares.

Its a narrative decision and it is bethesda's story to tell.

You could easily write around that. Have an option to say "I was afraid to come out" or something like that, or "My family wouldn't support me if I married a guy/girl."

That being said, Romance was never a big thing in Bethesda games, as a matter of fact I never put much thought into it personally.

I hope there is no romance in the game as it never works well.

Does the lighting effects in the game "matter,"? I am sure adding detail here improves the play for some... why shouldn't we care about little story details?

The whole living in the closet in the old repressed 1950s society thing you mention would add an extra layer for those that chose to play it that way and reinforce the general theme of the 1950s fantasy with all its secret problems vs. the reality of life reflected by the much more honest wasteland.

Just because the OP sentence structure makes it would like they want to romance a baby?

I'm a little bothered by it but in terms of a larger issue of how much choice you have over your character's backstory.

So you can now only roleplay as someone heterosixual or someone who comes out after the bombs drop which is quite limiting.

While that doesn't interest me, I may not want to play someone married with a child as the kind of character I want to play isn't the kind of person who would end up with a family.

Yes, it's a shame they don't give you that choice but it's part of a larger issue.

Modders may well be able to implement it if the dialogue for the opening scene covers both sixes equally.

People seem to forget Bisixuality is a real thing. Just cause you marry a man or woman doesn't mean you can no longer find the opposite gender attractive.

I don't think people are bothered in terms of 'romances' but in the wider implications of restricting the player character to certain characteristics in a game coming from a company that usually allows for something closer to a blank slate protagonist.

I'm sure that after you leave the vault you can do whatever you want with whoever you want.

I think the intro was just set because of the requirement of the baby ... that you name ... to be in the MQ somehow. Man and woman ... still works that way.

Seriously I am surprised there isn't some of this going on in the Shelter forum for having same-six roomies ... or maybe you can but they just don't have kids then. Don't know, haven't played yet.

If they did that, they would have had to basically record two set of voices for each gender since you don't want guy 1 to have the same voice as guy 2. Which honestly, more voice choices wouldn't be a bad thing.

"And so I left the vault and I realized...I just...couldn't go on living that way."

there ya go, simple fix. Come out of the closet. And do your thing.

Happens all the time in real life.

Should be pretty easy, the partner does not care about the six of the other ones, only exception might be about giving birth who would be a bit facepalm with two men.

later we get mods who skip the entire start and have alternate starts.

Exactly. I think this is the bigger issue here.

Honestly, I would have preferred to play as the baby than as the parents. I'm okay with a basic backstory like what we saw in Fallout 3, but forcing me to be married with a kid is something I have no interest in. I would have preferred starting off playing as the parent during the tutorial, but then continued as a grown up version of the baby afterward.

The only thing I can hope for now is that, at the end of the game, they pull a Red Dead Redemption and

Spoiler
Let me play as the child

That way, I can play Bethesda's story (which I admit interests me to an extent), but after its over I can play with my own blank slate of a character making my own personality and story for him.

Perhaps the main character is closeted gay and married because it's an important social construct? It's not unheard of.

I don't think that this is a big deal.
