skeevers in my home

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 1:00 pm

i left my home in the pale to go work on my home in hjaalmarch. i get back to the pale and my cellar is swarming with skeever! i killed them all, did a quest, come back and there they are again! is there a way to keep my house skeever-free? it makes it feel so dirty! why do they come?

You live in the wild and your home is stocked with food, which means your home is easy food source for wild life such as Skeever.

It seems to be totally random. Don't worry, they only stick in the basemant when they do spawn, and corpses in and around your house disappear really quickly in my experience.

Does anyone here have a "friendly" skeever living in their basemant? I had one skeever infestation, killed them all, except one who seemed to be ignoring my character. I haven't had an infestation since, but now he's just kind of lounging down there, walking back and forth like he's at home. Which he is, I suppose. I think it's pretty cute, actually, but I wonder if this is an intentional thing or a benign glitch?

that sounds like a glitch, seeing as you are not getting any spawns it suggests that the game still counts that skeever as part of an infestation, in a way thats a good thing because you now have a infestation-free cellar and a nice skeever pet :)

I keep dead thrall bodies in my basemant, guess that serves me right having skeevers.

I think Braggen only got about three attacks by skeevers at Lakeview (each time he visited after it was built), he left Erandur down there to keep an eye on things and neither Erandur nor the skeevers have been seen since. Presumably Erandur got tired of waiting and went home, maybe he took the skeevers with him. My second character Aussie is planning on moving her family into Lakeview, as soon as she works out how to get a family. Hopefully a mini pet skeever will be the result.

I just had that happen to me and explored in my mind the idea of having possibly no infestations. I ended up killing it because I don't want disgusting rats hanging around my food! XP

If you adopt a kid, it can bring a skeever home and ask to keep it as a pet. It's supposed to be smaller. So there can be a friendly skeever.

Had skeever infestations in Landview and Heljarchen, which were quickly ended. The ones in Heljarchen tried to run away and exit through the rock wall. Anyway, don't shout in the basemant. It scatters your stuff.

LOL! that made me laugh

well i think they come if you're not there enough. i've been making a point to go into each of my cellars everytime i go to the home. i neglected my falkreath home for a while and when i went back, there they were again. if i go often enough, they don't come.

That skeever is, to those that have the same, affectionately know as 'Sammy the skeever'! Many are waiting and hoping they get him too. LOL Some have said they leave cheese for him too.

Windhelm has a fully furnished celler so no skeevers show up. But Lakeview seems to be constantly under attack from giants, skeevers, bandits... I now have no horse, cow and I might be down to one chicken.

Furnished or not, you can still get random skeever infestations. With my other character, I have all 3 house with fully furnished cellars and still get them. Not often, but I get them.

well my luck ran out. Came home to Windstad after building the Heljarchen house and found skeevers running about. Lydia thought she would be nice and help. She took the flame staff off my weapon rack and fire balled the heck outta my celler.

I never had skeevers in the celler of Windstad until now and I've had Windstad since day 1 of hearthfire being released. I prompty took that staff away fro Lydia. not sure wht she used it. She isn't a mage and I have her equipted with a dragonbone sword. I guess when she saw them coming out of the wall she thought "Burn them with FIRE!"

I'm guessing it's Sammy because he just walks around and doesn't attack when I go down there.I wonder if we can leave food for him.

For some reason followers just love them some staves. I especially hate it when they loot a mage for his/her staff and I don't know about it until they use it in combat. I am like "where did you get that thing?! Give me that right now!"

Sammy the Skeever rocks! Have him on one character and have been waiting patiently to get him on another. He's a bit smaller and doesn't do anything but walk back and forth. The kids don't seem to mind him although they don't comment about him either. Going into the basemant is clearly beneath the wife so she's never made mention of him either...

Yes, that happened to me with my spouse Vorstag, I took that away from him immediately! (he almost fried me!)
