Skill increase with enchanted items

Post » Sun Jan 11, 2015 6:49 am

Hello sirs

We all know skills will increase faster on lower levels, compared to higher levels.

For example will heavy armor at skill 20 increase very fast compared to heavy armor at skill 90.

However. What if your heavy armor skill is 50 and you have enchanted items on, bringing your total heavy armor skill up to 150?

How fast will the heavy armor skill increase? At skill level 50?

Thanks in advance

Sincerely

Skill increase is formulated using the base value. Buffs from gear or Alchemy are not implemented in the formula.

Honestly, I feel like Armor skills take a dreadfully long time to level up, regardless. Even getting from 15 to 16 takes about 10 1H or 2H levels at the beginning of the game.

Also, enchanting has no effect whatsoever.

Thank you so very much. I was quite sure the bonus from enchanting didn't matter, but at heavy armor skill 73 it takes an awfully long time to gain skills. I was beginning to doubt how it worked :)

I have heavy armor skill at 166 and thought the +93 skill points was messing everything up.

Thanks

Hi Naggert -

Welcome to the forums! Here's your fishy stick: http://images.uesp.net/c/c4/Fishystick.jpg
(It's a tradition...)

I believe the more damage your melee opponents inflict on you, the faster your armor skill increases. You can try finding some mud crabs, or a cave bear, or a saber cat and let them just beat on you while you just stand there and heal. This may feel like cheating, but consider it 'practice' for your Player Character (PC). It sounds like your armor skill is so high that weaker creatures won't improve your skill very quickly. Try exploring the frozen north - the animals up there are more powerful.

Stick with it, the higher perks on the Heavy Armor Tree (Conditioning and Reflect Blow) are worth it.

So you like fish sticks? You like putting fish sticks in your mouth?

I was actually doing exactly what you recommend - fighting a drauger and going AFK. I came back after watching some South Park and was surprised at how little the heavy armor skill had increased.

You may be right in assuming the skill increase in depended on the incoming damage.

I'm running on 1000+ armor, equipped with a 2 handed blade, and thought I might have done myself and ill service by taking the heavy armor skill "so far".

EDIT:
Oh yeah, btw I joined the forums back in 2009. Just never posted anything before

The armor rating caps at 567. Anything beyond that does absolutely nothing.

"Physical damage reduction is capped at 80%. This occurs at 542 displayed armor rating when wearing all four pieces of armor and a shield, 567 without a shield, or 667 when not wearing any armor or shield at all."

Hm... Well, that's nice to know. No point wasting perks in armor / enchantments to boost armor rating that high.

Thanks

Yeah, it's worthy to know it's very easy to reach armor cap without even exploiting the exploits. That said it's also worthy to remember that armor rating only affects physical resistance, it has no effect on elementa damage.
