nah you are not the only one
i intend to spend 125ish points on crafting, so yeah i also need to get every single skill point available
We all do have the same ammount of skills we can achieve, we just have to work for them is all.
There is a flaw in your approach.
Yes, in a deck building game all people should be equal... However, let us suppose we go by the rules of M:tG (or at least what I remember them being a few years back)... 60 cards minimum (but for this, we will limit to 60 as well, to simulate you can only have 5 active abilities plus one ultimate), no more than 4 of any one card, and some cards are banned or restricted to 1 in the deck, you can have a 15 card sideboard which must adhere to the same rules, and is considered part of your total (so no having 4 of one card in your deck, and having 4 more of it in sideboard)... oh, and we're using all commons (no uncommons, no rares, no foils, etc)
The equivalent from ESO to M:tG, would be having 290 cards (that you get to pick which ones you get), versus 300 cards...
Somehow, I think the first 75 you pick will be the ones you REALLY want for your deck... then you might pick 75 more to build a second deck just in case? (150 picked so far)... then, umm, 60 more to have some 'possible' alternatives... ok, now we can pick 80 more... what to pick, what to pick... well, I guess we get... ummm, THAT ONE? and uhhh, this one??
You eventually start running out of everything you actually had any interest in getting, picked all of your 'maybes' and even a bunch of your 'well, I gotta pick somethings'...
10 points really doesn't affect you, when you didn't need the 50 pts before them...
Well:
It arent allways better Items. Sometimes it are realy ineresting background storrys. Or Quests etc.
Something may seem to be evil at the 1st view. But after hearing both sides and trying to calm down the anger causing side you see the only right way.
Even if its the hard one.
/edit: at my 1st try i did an mistake to. It is realy hard to decide the right way.
Maybe to YOU this is what the game is. This couldn't be further from the truth for myself.
The bottom line is play however you all want. Some of us want to just enjoy the game, the quests, the environment, the company of others whilst doing so. Others want to work out their builds for PvP, or to fight in Trials or what have you. Others want to get the best of everything so they can show off. Others want to be the first to Veteran Rank 10. Some want to have characters for crafting, some for fighting, some will have one that does both. Some PvE, some PvP, some RP, some solo...
There's no wrong way to play, unless arguably you're getting enjoyment from someone else's sorrow.
Each to their own.
Fact is: you play the bad style you have to pay. So no 100% same sp ever .
According to the current character builder, you only need about 475'ish to absolutely max out a toon's skills (every single one of them).
So, 300 goes a LONG ways to having that. Yeah, you will spend 125 on crafts, if you only had 290, that would leave you with 165, max out all 3 class skills (60 more), now have 105, max out 2 armors (26 more) and down to 79 left, max out 2 weapon sets (40 more) down to 39, max out soul magic (10) 29 to go... what else... wanna be emperor? Need a PvP tree? Maybe some guild abilities?
And remember, that is buying every single ability in the 2 weapon styles and the class skills from all 3 class trees... so, you have TONS of abilities you will never use (and probably wouldn't spend points into as a result)...
290 points is more than enough, those extra 10 would be buying stuff that you most likely would never even glance at, let alone end up on your bar to be used...
Thank you for taking the time to type all that out. Wanted to for the OP before, but got exhausted just thinking about it.
