on pg.55 of the game informer. we have 8 confirmed skills.alchemy, destruction, illusion, enchanting(replace mysticism i suppose),alteration, restoration, conjuration and smithing(replace repair?).so that leaves only 10 other skills.probally at least 2 weapon related skills like (one handed, two handed whatever), and sneak skill so about 8 other unknown skills.what do you think they'll be?

for weapons, I think it will be blade and blunt again, but it will be like fallout new vegas where it takes certain skill levels to use weapons properly.

Unarmored-good for magic users.
Thievery-Stealth, security, pick-pocket.
Marksman-hopefully crossbows and darts.
Light armor
Heavy armor
I like what Blackwold said about Survival
Hand-to-hand-I never really liked it in Oblivion because it was not effective.
Physical-swimming, athletics, acrobatics, climbing, jumping, dodging (Daggerfall;))

I'm pretty sure the armor skills are gone. We have perks now to differentiate between light/medium/heavy. Don't see the point of wasting skills slots on them. One armor/defense skills is enough by all means.

edit: of course we keep block

I'm thinking we will have "Melee weapons" instead of blade and blunt, possibly "Armor" instead of heavy and light, and meybe lockpick will be removed in favor of a skill minigame.

For the new skills that have been added as well as the number that has been removed, I predict alot of merging going on, just as:

Axe + Blunt = Blunt

Longblade + Shortblade = Blade

Running + Swimming = Athletics

Medium Armor + Light Armor/Heavy Armor = Light Armor/Heavy Armor

Medical was removed in favor of Restoration

Climbing was removed in favor of Jumping(Acrobatics)

Etc.

i think i read somewhere that there is a chance they are taking out light and heavy armor skills because they are like athtletics, you dont have to work too hard to get them up (you can just stand next to an enemy with a healing spell. but im not totally sure

i do like the survival idea tho

combat:
1) one-handed (partially confirmed in GI mag, bc of a comment about perks)
2) two-handed
3) hand-to-hand (because each hand is now seperate and duel weildin is in, so what would happen if u only used the one hand weapon? the other would be ur fist)
4) Block
5) athelitics/acrobats *might go into stealth replacing merchantile if mixed together with speechcraft, if so then armored would go here*
6) smithing
magic:
1-6) the ones confirmed except alchemy
stealth:
1) alchemy (because each type can have a craftin skill)
2) Marksman
3) sneak
4) speechcraft
5) merchantile
6) lockpick

I think survival could gobble up both acrobatics and athletics as well as provide for cooking and non potion poison making.

Away with 4 skills:
Acrobatics
Armorer
Mysticism
Speechcraft
(Acrobatics would be merged with Athletics and Mysticism into the other magic schools as we all know)

In with 1 new skill:
Survival/Craftsman (which might have Armorer merged into it)

Because I want Alchemy to be a separate skill. :celebration:

Anyway I didn't know Smithing and Enchanting were confirmed to be separate skills? I wish they are but I'm very sceptical. I'd guess they put them together into one skill. Smithing just isn't a big of an activity to do.

I am going to say:

-Blade
-Blunt
-Block
-Restoration
-Smithing
-Destruction
-Enchanting
-Alteration
-Conjuration
-Survival(Cooking, Farming, Fishing, woodcutting etc or maybe those are just jobs you can do and is not skill based and if this is the case then survival is replaced by marksmen which is most likely)
-Heavy armor
-Light armor
-Illusion
-Merchantile
-Speechcraft
-Repair(If smithing doesnt include it)or Alchemy if this is included in smithing
-Athletics
-Acrobatics

There are 18 skills there and 18 in the game so that should be right or a good guess

You people really need to read the info available. One-handed is confirmed(twice, once in GI Mag and once on the GI hub) so blade and blunt are out.

I think that the skills will be as follows.

Combat Skills
One Handed Weapons
Two Handed Weapons
Block
Smithing
Athletics
Heavy Armour

Magic Skills
Alchemy
Illusion
Conjuration
Destruction
Restoration
Alteration

Stealth Skills
Sneak
Lock-picking
Archery
Light Armour
Speechcraft
Acrobatics

Mysticism spells will be spread among the remaining schools of magic, Speechcraft and Mercantile will be fused into one skill, and Hand-to-Hand...[censored] I forgot about that one. Hand-to-Hand might just be based off of your attributes. I hope we can use it as a way to subdue an opponent without killing him/her.

Edit* I also forgot about Enchanting, which is already a confirmed skill.

This list definitely needs to be reworked.

-One-handed
-Two-handed
-smithing
-alchemy
-enchanting
-destruction
-conjuration
-alteration
-illusion
-restoration
-speech (speech/mercantile)
-survival
-marksman
-sneak
-security
-light armor
-heavy armor
-acrobatics

I'm thinking either speech and mercantile will be combined or the two armor skills will be combined. One or the other.

Why do people assume perks mean you need less skills...
I'd like to see a return of:
long blade
short blade
blunt
axe
spear
etc.

But it seems we are getting less and less skills each game... Sad..

1. One Handed Weapon
2. Two Handed Weapon
3. Marksman
4. Hand To Hand
5. Light Armour
6. Heavy Armour
7. Enchanting
8. Conjuration
9. Destruction
10. Alteration
11. Alchemy
12. Restoration
13. Illusion
14. Smithing (Armourer)
15. Speechcraft (includes Mercantile)
16. Athletics (includes Acrobatics)
17. Sneak (includes Security)
18. No idea about the last one.

Because I want Alchemy to be a separate skill. :celebration:
