Skinning

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:45 am

Once I've slain the great almighty wolfgod Fenris I will be outraged if I can't take a bodypart (or the entire body) as a trophy.

I'm hoping for something like the "dispose of corpse" button from Morrowind but when you click this button a series of choices pop up: "Head" "Skin" "Left front leg" "Left back leg" "Right front leg" "Right back leg" "Tail" "Organs" "Flesh" "Fat" "Back body" "Scalp" "Upper Body" "Entire creature". If you click skin the great wolf should still be there, but now without his skin... if you then click head you'll get a skinless head (if you had picked the head first then the skin wouldn't have a head)... or if you took both the back legs and then picked the back body the back body would not have a pair of legs attached... once you've taken what you need (or what you can carry) you can head back to town and "Forge" some armor/ weapons using your recent trophy's or you could use them as alchemical ingredients... perhaps even hang 'em up in your home... I'm really HOPING for a system like that... I don't just want it to be creatures you can skin... Don't you just think Fargoth would have made a lovely towel...

If you have any ideas for a skinning system... or things you can do with skins... or even advice on staying away from the forums before you find me and beat the living [Censored] outta me, then please post... good ideas for the Skinning system (and what you can do with skins) will be added to the poll and credit will be given...

Note: I know skinning might not be the word I'm looking for but its the best suiting one I could think of...

I want to skin a large wolf or bear and craft a nice warm fur cloak from its hide. Shame there will probably be no cloaks. :(

I voted for some creatures anyhoo. I don't think you should be able to, uh, repurpose all creatures. Most of them sure, but the more magical ones not as much.

Skinning would be cool. I'd like to be able to skin everything i encounter, except for creatures that would normally not be skinnable (will-o-the-wisp etc.). :P

Voted NPCs only, just for the lulz.

WHAT!? You don't wanna wear a half invisable will-o-the-wisp cuirass? Just kidding... of course I didn't mean skin a will-o-the-wisp... or a ghost...

I find this a rather macabre topic. I'd like to ask everyone to keep it rather superficial, limited to creatures and not go into too much anatomical detail. :)

But where is the fun in that? :(

I would love to skin something even if it was limited to creatures BUT than my mom would hate these games even more since I tend to get so much enjoyment out of this kinda stuff :)

Yeah, ditto. I have no issues with going stabbity-stab, but trophies is taking it a bit far on the "but he was such a quiet boy" side. :P

Ok, I won't go into any more detail than what I wrote as I made the topic...

I hear you. There are a lot of fun videos to be found on youtube that would be highly inappropriate for these forums. Same with some topics and discussions. :)

I would love it if you could skin animals/creatures and use those skins and things to craft armour, cloaks/clothing out of. Actually have the things you can craft LOOK different depending on the type of animal it is and certain unique ones for rare animals. Like having wolves and then having a rare big white wolf you find and making a pure white cloak from it's skin and having the head rest over the top of yours like a cap, that'd be cool.

No. This isn't a rockstar game. This got really repetitive in rdr.

Do you mean skinning like leatherface in texas chainsaw massacre?

You've not seen predator.....well i recommend you do....great film.
And i'm not forcing the skinning thing, just making the point that it's real and is a part of life :)
If it ain't in the game ( which it won't be ) i have no problem with it,it's not going to ruin anything for me.
And if it's not your cup of tea, then fair play to you.....each to their own

I would say just keep it how it is, where you can get certain pelts. Then just build that into Smithing to make fur and leather armor.
