Skryim : Special Edition Cost

Post » Thu Jul 07, 2016 8:10 am

I'm not being personal, because this doesn't really affect me at all. To me it seems that you are the one being personal, because you are angry that you have to pay.

It's nice to see that you feel so strongly, but as you already said, most people don't turn it into as much of a problem as you do, because they have better things to do.

And my "fellow PC users"? Please don't stoop down to that level. Console wars are pathetic and you are gradually trying to turn this into one. It's great that some PC players are willing to pay for it, they still won't have to because they get it for free. Insulting others as subtly as you do doesn't help at all.

But, you know what? This thread is getting too hateful for me. You stated your opinion, I stated mine. I'll leave it at that. Good luck.

Genuinely curious, but isn't that kind of a stretch?

You stated "And no, I don't think anyone would be "happy" to pay for the game again." and "I think at this point in time Bethesda received enough of my money. Paying 60$ for Skyrim again is the last thing in the world that would make me "happy".".

So, you're a PC user. You seemed to be stating that PC users would be unhappy to buy the game again, which I already proved wrong by pointing you towards other people who are your "fellow PC users".

I fail to see how that's a loaded thing to say, and if anything, it seems pretty desperate to claim I'm trying to incite anything other than fair treatment regarding the SSE.

If you're going to clutch at straws, I'd be grateful if you didn't misrepresent my intentions, thank you.

I wouldn't buy it because I don't need it. A remaster of a still perfectly playable and moddable, barely 5 years old game is useless to me. I think many PC players are in the same boat.

Not everyone, and I'm sure plenty would buy it again, just not at release for $60 (which just reinforces my point about remasters and pricing).

Half that price $30/£20 seems about right. Would you consider picking it up for that price, assuming this free deal wasn't an option?

The same goes for you. Thank you.

I think you missed the point where I said that noone would be happy to pay 60$ for the game, especially if they already have it, and that 60$ is too much for console users to pay. Thanks for pulling that out of context. Always great...

The very thought that you are being "mistreated" indicates that you should receive special treatment. I'll say it for the last time: Console players pay for a greatly improved game. PC players do NOT pay for a slightly improved game. What console users get with the remaster is what PC users already have for the most part. If console users would also get the game for free it would be great, but it's sadly not going to happen.

But that's the last thing I have to say. If you take that as me not having an argument anymore, be my guest. I just don't like the tone of this thread. Did I overreact? Maybe. Did you overreact? Definitely.

1 : I didn't miss the point, I quoted it in reference to your claims about no-one being willing to pay for it on PC. Seeing as we were talking about PCs, console pricing didn't seem relevant.

2 : On the contrary, all console users are being mistreated by way of PC users receiving said special treatment. As I have said repeatedly (something you seem quick to ignore/dismiss), I only want fair treatment.

3 : What console users paid last time was the same as PC users, if not more, for less content. At the time, Mods were not even "on the table" so to speak. Now they are, and console users should pay for that privilege? All we (console users) are getting is Mod support (that was forcefully removed last gen) and fancy graphics. That does not justify the price tag, and this argument is going in circles due to your willful desire to not interpret things in their proper context, nor settle for any explanation that isn't what you already have made your mind up to be.

Hell, I said I'm not going to respond anymore, but please refrain from editing my quotes and bringing them out of context like that. I just said that I would be more than happy if console users get the update for free. Sorry, but now you are just being a bad person.

No, I'm just not interested in it (and I'm stingy besides). I didn't pick up Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition for the same reason, even when it was 80% off. Btw, that remaster was hilarious, it still sold worse than the 15 years old original to the point that they stopped selling the original as a standalone altogether to force people to buy the EE instead. :P

Are you serious?

Then read the whole article, if you don't understand what I said "read the last two lines here" in my previous post.

Unless you bought it via psn, you can't. There, you don't have to wait anymore.

Majority of remasters are released at full price, you're not forced to buy the same game twice, your choice. Final Fantasy Type 0, Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, some of the games that I payed the full price of a brand new ps4 game for even though they're "just" remasters. So that's an entirely different matter from the fact that PS users have to pay the full price for this remaster compared to the PC users. I do agree that it's unfair.

Well. [censored] Pete Hines.

Just so you know, I have 2 remasters so far on PS4.

Both were free.

I don't. Go read some of my other posts in this thread, particularly the first one where I mention how many copies I've already paid for (I've bought Skyrim for all three platforms) and that I'd be perfectly willing to pay for SSE on PC.

That type of hate is uncalled for, and it gives us console players a bad name.

Me too, although I haven't bought a next gen console yet. But I do own two PS2s (one is brand new, mothballed mint in box for when the first one breaks), one PS3, and three 360s (two of which used to be system linked and the third is on its last legs).

Heh, still have the 2nd one in the box...robust systems those ps2 were.

I have never owned an Xbox.

Well, that's mature... I don't agree with everything Pete Hines says either, but his arguments on the topic seem at least a bit reasonable. There are plenty of remasters that charge full price, The Last of Us for example. I don't know why it's such a big deal with Skyrim. I think you shouldn't charge full price for an older, brushed up game either way, except if it's a proper remake, but it is how it is.

OP, you post like a screaming child throwing a tantrum. Good god man, get it together and calm down. You just accused someone else of taking things personally; by all accounts, you're the one taking all this *way* too personally. Just chill. Post like a normal, rational poster.

You've created this (I won't call it a thread, more the OP screaming what he wants and Bethesda must do it right meow) as a means to not discuss, but to simply torch your opinion into people. You're offering no fair and reasonable retort to differing opinions, which is childish and naive.

Again; tone it down if you truly seek debate or discussion.

Thank you for being reasonable. I don't know why a problem as minor as this can turn into such a cesspool of accusations. It just seems to me that the OP is salty that not everything goes exactly the way he wants it to.

TLoU was one of the two I mentioned.

And I agree, you shouldnt pay full price for a brushed up version. Especially when you already bought the DLC at full price too.

Whether or not you guys want to believe it, the most realistic and obvious reason for them charging full retail for the Skyrim remaster for console users is because there's no way for them to verify if anyone bought it or not. With steam, if you have the legendary edition, which is what is required, you get it for free that's because you've already bought it. They have no way to verify that for console users. They're not going to give a free game away that they put more than likely thousands of extra hours into for the reMaster.
