SKSE & Patch 1.3

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 7:48 pm

So after downloading the newest patch my version of SKSE is not up to date anymore, making it impossible to play the game without the script extender. I decided to look it up on google and found SKSE's official website, only to find it unfinished and offering no information on further patching of said software.

Can any of you help me get the newest version of SKSE or point me in the direction of information regarding it?

Pwettty please :)

After transferring the files from the newest version of SKSE, the game still does not want to start and it keeps giving me the same error. Did I do something wrong?

Try moving the old SKSE dll to another folder?

I deleted the old SKSE files in the Skyrim folder and it still won't recognize the new one.

In my opinion, the SKSE people should be recommending that you save a re-named copy of the game executable, so that you can sometimes delay updating the game until they have re-engineered SKSE to deal with the update.

(Personally, though, I am not going to touch SKSE (nor alternatives like script dragon nor even autohotkey) until things get a lot more stable than they are now. At the very least, I am going to want SKSE to become "non-beta" -- I greatly admire the people that help out on the beta, but I just do not have enough time, myself, to deal with those issues.)

I don't think the technical support forum needs even more people posting threads because they got a bug caused by using the 1.1 exe with the incompatible 1.2 data files.

No, of course not. And presumably instructions should explicitly warn against posting those kinds of threads.

But not all updates that break skse will break tesv.exe, and this is a beta -- people should expect to have some short term problems and should expect to be making a best effort to get things working despite those problems.

As Elys pointed out, we should have this discussion in the current http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1302434-wipz-skyrim-script-extender-skse/ thread. People have been able to update to the latest SKSE succesfully and we'd like to solve your problems. One thing to note is that SKSE plugins frequently also need to be updated to match the new patch as they frequently update the game in-memory the way the script extender does. So - please follow up in the official thread and we'll try and help you solve the issue.
