Skynet Is A Pacifist

Post » Mon Sep 27, 2010 6:44 am

G'day guys, I recently started playing through Fallout 2 again, how I love that game :) Anyway I managed to get Skynet into his robot body with the cybernetic brain and all was well. Then for no explicable reason the thing stopped using it's gun and started ineffectively [censored] slapping enemies instead. I've checked combat control and he's set to ranged, but whenever I tell him to use best weapon he just doesn't. It's driving me nuts, I went to all the trouble of getting the brain and all I've got for my trouble is metallic canon fodder. Any ideas what's up?

He's armed with the Pancor Jackhammer which only takes shotgun shells. But I have also tried different guns & ammo.

mmmh so what's wrong here ? which brain did you choose ? the chimp one, the deformed one, the cybernetic one ? maybe that's got something to do with it. try fiddling then with the ombat control again, or give him another riffle. really don't know why the bugger is giving you a hard time. and if he's still causing trouble, give him a flower and throw pulse grenades at him, those work really well...

never liked the robot anyway...

Actual I've had this problem in the past too now I think of it. Sulik wouldnt reload his SMG....Despite the fact he had like 500 rounds still...Worst time to go melee, whislt fighting the Enclave wearing Leather Armour... :S

okay is this a patch issue ?! earlier versions of the game were riddled with bugs... you might want to upgrade your version then. but beware, old savegames will no longer be valid bwahaha

This happened to me when I had Kalip's patch....I doubt its a patching issue unless he missed it >.>

Probably just a flaw in the game AI.

As I stated previously he has the cybernetic brain. I've tried giving him different guns and changing his combat setting from "ranged" to "ranged then melee", still no luck. My version of the game is patched and has no mods installed.

does that affect the npc ? i thought the npc just couldn't carry anymore stuff and couldn't run.

edit : maybe this could help, try reloading the pancor then giving it back to him when reloaded, i got that once as well now that i think about it... the lazy buggers just didn't bother reloading their guns then went bezerk on unarmed and melee.

Tried giving him a different weapon? Maybe the coding in your copy of Fallout has mutated, and developed its own item degrading system!!!!

The solution has finally presented itself, and you'll probably all wonder the same thing as me "why didn't I bloody think of that", lol.

At some point without me knowing about it he ended up with a crippled leg (WTF! He has no legs!) and a crippled arm. I used repair on him and voila!!!

Learn to read. Clawcity wrote Skynet had a crippled arm as well.

thought i'd bump this instead of starting a new topic...

i met skynet, and he told me to get him a brain.
fair enough. down the level 4, and i got the cybernetic brain. sweet.
i head back up, and when i talk to skynet i get "warning! file corrupted!" or something.
then all i can say is "ug" and i logoff.

... wtf?

Sounds like you've triggered the low int dialogue options.... Or you may just have a very low science score.

(If you're science isnt extremely high (100%-ish), I wouldnt bother with the skynet quest).

my INT is 5, and i had no problem up until that point...
i know about low INT characters but i've never had my guy that limited, lol.
my science skill is 120ish i think.

it's no big deal really. wasn't really even trying to get skynet.
just trying to experience everything i can with this character. thank you for the replies.

Actually, if you don't have a science skill of 124% or more I believe you won't even be able to get the cybernetic brain, so getting Skynet wouldn't even be a possibility.
