Skyrim 2010 vs Skyrim 2011

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 6:18 pm

Hi monkeys!
I wonder if Skyrim has changed much since its announcement. You know, graphics, Radiant features and quests...

I remember that in some early articles about Skyrim, Todd mentioned something cool (or maybe not?) about Radiant, that everytime you drop your weapon, some kid can come and give it to you back.

Any other deleted features?

When you kill a shopkeeper or blacksmith the family/assitant will take it over.

Seems to not be in the game as i killed the one in Riverwood and now theres no blacksmith there :P

I dropped a bunch of stuff in Riverwood, the kid didn't give anything back. He just said "hey mister you dropped this". I didn't check my inventory and see what, if anything was returned. I dropped alot.
I'll go back and drop one item this time and see if it's back in my inventory without me picking it up.

Actually I did drop some equipment and people give it back, but it can be annoying if your just getting rid of it so I think they shortened the amount of times it happens to you.

The one everybody knows about - Friendly Giants.

I don't know about EVERY time, but when I dropped some books in my Whitehaven dorm room, one of the other students walked over, picked it up, and handed it back to me saying something like "Gee. You're a klutz. Look what you dropped. Here, take it back. What would you do without me here to save your backside?"

Hey monkey

I also remember an example given of how, if you dropped your weapon, that a couple of guys could end up fighting over it. I guess that was dropped :(

Radiant Story is probably something they shouldn't have even mentioned, let alone talk it up as much as they did.

1. Just because you haven't does not mean it is not in the game.
2. Snow is partially dynamic. If you use a fire spell you can see that the snow is a texture on top of the original, just as they said it would be (a lot of people assumed they meant it would fall on top and create a mesh or something, but they did not state that)
3. That is what this thread about, stating what is not in the game. Try to argue why you think that is so
4. Some quests are endless, some are not. That was what they stated.
... God some people...

They said the chickens report crimes! They don't in the final version. That means they're lying. Todd Howard is a liar. I can't trust Bethesda any more.

I've dropped some stuff and had people come up to me and say "can I have this?". Then guards showed up and told me to knock it off with the weapon littering or there'd be trouble.

They probably limited how much this could happen to keep it a cool random event instead of an always-thing. It could get kind of annoying if you dropped a bunch of stuff and had twenty NPC show up saying "I helped you pick up your armor!".

- Fighting over gear, seen it happen in a tavern in riften
- Dropping gear (An old woman gave it back and then another time a woman swiped my steel plate helm and ran off "Someone had to take it!" NO! So i killed her "Your life, someone had to take it")
- Families inheriting stores (I don't mindlessly kill people, In other-words I haven't tested the family thing)

There's also the possibility some of these features are bugged and are in the game but simply not working.

The raspy Dark Elf voice actor :(
Being able to talk to Giants

I remember the Dark Elf! I was just thinking before "Didn't the Morrowind DE Voice actor return?"
I haven't heard him at all, I am saddened.

I think the chicken reporting crime is still in, else I don't know how to explain the 5 gold bounty I had.

God, I hate it when people complain erroneously. If youre going to be a little [censored] about something, at least be right...

I have actually seen people fighting over my dropped daedric bow in Riften. I think that lion girl was one of the participants.

While there has been some fine tuning I think a lot of claims made prior to the release of the game were exaggerated. Radient AI isn't much different than it was in Oblivion. NPC dialog and voice acting isn't nearly as varied as what was claimed. The graphics are better, but a lightly modded Oblivion looks about as good. A Gamebryo Engine by any other name looks the same. Its still a good game, but its no more a step up or advancement in most mechanics from where they were with Fallout 3.

I can confirm that not only do NPCs sometimes return your dropped items but will also come and ask you if they can have what you dropped and will fight over stuff...

What was I doing killing shopkeeps then?

I assumed they would have new owners within a few days.

Becareful. Ive had good-aligned characters murder shopkeepers over Belted Tunics that Ive dropped in town. If you see an argument starting I suggest you quickly pick up the item you dropped. Unless youre willing to take the hit (absence of a store) in order to watch the murder.
