Skyrim 251 Quests vs Fallout 4 103 Quests

Post » Fri Jan 22, 2016 12:12 pm

I've seen generic settlers talk to each other. The reason why it's rare though is because I believe that the only settlers who talk to each other are the ones that were originally from the location. New settlers don't seem to talk at all even if there were previously no settlers at the location to begin with.

This is so much me, except instead of 250 hours I have over 600... I will enjoy when I can say over 9000. But yea. Skyrim I paid for it, played and forced myself to beat it had less then 20 hours in. Forced myself to play it a bit more to give it a chance... Yea I hate that game. Er, it is not my taste.

Editing your post sounds like describing Fallout 4. Seriously, a bunch of FO 4 quests are exactly how you describe, "go talk to this person". Each faction in the war has at least 1 quest like this or more. Go talk to Sturges. Go talk to Maxson. Go meet rest of the head BoS people. Etc etc. Preston Garvey is a radiant quest machine gun, the 2 BoS at police station are just radiant quests, 2 BoS on airship is radiant quest, 2 give out random fetch quests. DC there are 4 fetch quests, one radiant "bounty hunter" ha kill quest. You are bashing Skyrim for exact same reason we bashing Fallout 4, well, no wonder, they made by the exact same people.

I say quests in Oblivion was good, most of them had an story even the small ones, Fallout 3 was far better here, fewer quests but most had multiple options while Oblivions was linear.

I felt that Skyrims quests was an bit weaker than Oblivion, Fallout 4 quests are generally weaker than Skyrim.

There Fallout 4 is good is the locations.

Unless you can shoot people in Skyrim, FO4 gonna win.

Well from mod side, Skyrim does have the most amazing mods though.

G.E.C.K should release fast.

why does the number of quests even matter?

most quests in Skyrim and Fallout 4 are 'get this, kill that' which is extremely boring

I'd rather have 30 well written handmade quests, than having to do all this garbage :/

New Vegas was definitely a step in the right direction there ^^

but still nowhere near on the level of how it should be in an RPG

neither Bethesda games nor New Vegas are known for their interesting or good quest lines

the games don't aim for having good quests... they aim for exploration and freedom

FO4 development may have started 7 years ago but there has most certainly not been 7 years spent on it, more like 7 months. In Skyrim you have at least 4 play-throughs and that's based on what direction you take from Helgen. In FO4 you have 1.

I don't blame Todd "It doesn't work" Howard as I suspect his funding for FO4 got taken away on more than one occasion.

Yeah, Fallout 4 is like a last gen game in many ways. Not even taking into account the graphics.

Embarrassing that it was in development for so long and this is what we got.

I wonder if threads like this would have appeared if Fallout 4 was released with all DLCs on Day 1. Its easy to say Skyrim has more quests because it's fully complete with all DLC.

For Fallout 3, Bethesda knew that Elder Scrolls-style quests and NPC interactions were wrong for Fallout, and so they consciously elected to have fewer quests and NPCs so they could focus on making them right for Fallout. I would not be surprised if they made the same decision for Fallout 4.

the world is the major improvement

the generic ruins of Skyrim are far inferior to the variety we see in Boston

Fallout 4's major aspect is exploring... it's really not about quests this time

It seems to have been a design decision by Bethesda to use most of their ressources for this part of the game, whether people like it or not

I even feel like it's more realistic how they've done it this time...

Imagine finding yourself in a destroyed radiated city ^^ there won't be many people out there telling you to do something for them

most of the time you'll go through abandoned areas of the map, that are either completely empty or occupied by enemies

it's a big part of the apocalyptic atmosphere to not be swarmed with quests and be able to explore without getting bothered, in my opinion

and they've got that part of the game perfectly right...

I'd just wish that those quests that we actually get were more unique and thought out...

there are a few great ones and I even like the main quest a lot, but the majority of the quests still feels like a filler...

almost every single open world game has this ton of 'go there, get that, kill that' quests... Fallout, Skyrim and even Witcher

developers seem to feel forced to create them to expand the playtime of the game and give players just more to do

The purpose of quests is to give the player things to do. I've not had a shortage of things to do in this game, whether being told where to go by a quest or not. Settlement building alone gives me plenty of things to do, both in my settlements and out in the field looking for materials and gear for my settlements and settlers.

Please look at the Pictures in the first Post, so far i dont see any Skyrim DLC's in that List.

If you look at the Picture for Skyrim you will find many Quests with a specific Location, i think you could compare the Amount of Fallout 4 Quests + repitive Radiant Quests and you would get the Amount of unique Skyrim Locations.

It isnt swarmed with Quests, but do you know whats even mroe bad? Just having less Options. If i had to choose between more Quests or less Quests, ofcourse i would choose mroe Quests. And about Quest Quality we dont have to discuss the System we got are the same between those Games. So just the Amount of Content is counting. So what i mean i paid the same Money for Fallout but i got only in comparison with Skyrim, a half Game. So many different NPC'S, different Look, different Voice Acting, different Dialogs its just much more Work in an older Game. Bethesda made good Marketing here.

I like Fallout 4, there is no other Game at the Moment i would play. Just missing the same Love of Skyrim here.

and that is your opinion.

Skyrim is good but is true the game become repetitive after exploring the same ruins for 10 times.

Personally, I'm not a fan of either FO4 or Syrims radiant quests! They are alright for a few repeats, but after that. I never touch them again. As for quests overall, I think its pretty obvious that FO4 has fewer than Skyrim, but I don't see that as automatically being a negative. I look at how much enjoyment and content overall that I'm getting out of a game and so far with FO4 I'm at around 120 hours total and still haven't fully explored probably close to half of the discoverable locations. Maybe FO4 doesn't have as many quests as past Bethesda games, but I feel like I'm getting more than my moneys worth regardless.

What have you done to get send 10 Times to the same Location? I mean the Radiant Quests Location System wasnt that broke like in Fallout 4. But to not judge to fast i just made the Radiant Quests from Winterhold. I just remember one Time where i got send 2 Times to the same Dungeon by 15 Quests as whole. And now Fallout 4:

- Minutemen: Kidnapped Person in the Military Storage 5x in row

- BoS: get Food for the Troops 7x to Nordhagen Beach in Row even after i killed the Settler and while the Mission was successful before xD

- Institute: Ayo sends me always to the same Synth Infiltrator to get the same Report in always the same Location.

- Rail Road: Killing the Gunner, this Mission has so far (for me) only 2 Dungeons

The randomize Radiant Questsystem is just broke or it doesnt exist in this Game, i cant say whats teh Truth and what i saw so far. In Skyrim is was way more better. Since this Game dotn have much Quests shoudl atleast the damn Radiant Quests not like this. This is absolutley a Fail in my Eyes

Fallout 4, definitely feels sparse in the quest department. There's more incentive for multiple playthroughs because of the conflicting factions, but the overall number of quests is lacking.

On my first playthrough, I took my time and completed the MQ at around level 43. Aside from the never ending Minutemen bullsh*t Radiant quests, there was literally nothing to do. I spent another couple dozen hours just traipsing the landscape looking for things to do and locations to discover, but it felt like everything dried up right away. I'm sure I missed some things, but that never happened to me in Skyrim.

And it feels like the faction quest lines rely WAY too heavily on Radiant quests. Radiant quests = grinding.

I just don't think that quests are the only type of content you can count in a game

I've spent far more time doing quests in Skyrim than I did in F4, but on the other hand I spent way more time exploring by myself in Fallout

both games took me 150-200 hours on my first playthrough, so I think they have roughly the same amount of content

and even Fallout 3, that had like only 10-20 quests had more content than the most AAA games nowadays like Tomb Raider, AC, Far Cry

I think we're still getting our money's worth, no matter if a game has 50 or 300 quests

and I'd much prefer having 50 well written quests, than 300 'kill that' ones ^^

The Daedric quests are a good example, along with Barenziah's Crown and a few others. There doesn't really seem to be any "medium-sized" quest lines in Fallout. It's either a full faction quest line, the main quest or tiny one-stop-shoot'em-up quests. Nothing with any substance that can keep you occupied throughout the game, which doesn't really affect the main quest. There were plenty of quest lines in Skyrim that had me working on them throughout the game when I happened to be in that specific area of the map, and then the next stop was somewhere else etc. until that whole side quest was complete. They all offered a fun and interesting quest that didn't have anything to do with the main quest, but they still felt somewhat important and definitely added to the lore. Fallout 4 is certainly not a great title in terms of adding to the Fallout lore, IMO.

Your right but do you really see big Differences to Skyrim Quests? From the Quality they made both Fun. But here there are only maybe the half of it, and that is my Problem.

Taking 7 years to develop Fallout 4 does not mean much if the next TES game is released within the next two years as that would guarantee that the next TES would have taken up most of the development time after 2011, nevermind that Skyrim already took most of the first 3 years of Fallout 4's development. Keep in mind that Bethesda isn't Ubisoft, up until last year they only had around 100 people which I think most would agree is not enough for the kind of games they make let alone several of them. It's sad but let's face it, between TES and Fallout, TES is Bethesda own baby and the series that made then who they are, so this isn't really far-fetched.

Based on the Fallout 4 interviews I've seen I'm getting the impression that they didn't really go full development on Fallout 4 until 2013, especially with the fact that they had to port Skyrim over to the next gen console and all before even working on Fallout 4.

It's about how ridiculous someone gets with his "judgement". Even common sense should tell you that 7 months is a insult nothing more and doesn't deserve a different answer.
