It is not an Akavir banner. It is the Imperial Crest, which had Akaviri inspiration.

How many times does this have to be said?

Sorry. Just fed up with the mixup.

Anyhoo, go to the source of this confusion for a good one.

You can see it plastered over everything having to do with the Empire in TES3 and TES4. Never played Daggerfall or Arena so I dunno if it's in there too. It may have been Akaviri at some point but it's been so co-opted by the Empire that it's become synonymous.

The missing diamond at the top of the broken one seen in TES5 probably represents the missing Amulet of Kings.

The banner being styled after the akaviri has been used as an argument in plenty of threads to support an akaviri invasion-theory. I can understand the "ah man, not this again"-sentiment, it was my first thought when I saw the topic as well. I was pretty sure the topic was going to be about how the banner means the akaviri are involved. Honest mistake to make, no need for anyone to loose their temper...

EDIT: QED, right below :P

For the love of Stendarr, as many others have said before the banner has been on both Oblivion's and Morrowind's covers, so why does its presence in Skyrim suddenly imply "AKAVIRI INVASION! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!"

I know it looks slightly different, but come on. A tiny bit of one of the wings is broken off, probably representing the supposedly broken empire. The diamons at the top is gone, possibly representing the very same thing, or simply that the amulet of kings is gone.

What in all of this screams "Akaviri influence"?

Now please lock this thread before we get another one of those "debates" when really it should just be a discussion.

Pretty please.... :icecream:

The ice cream did it - that and the fact I had to delete some posts, and the question was answered.
