Skyrim and Fallout action figures...

Post » Fri Sep 25, 2015 10:08 am

Oh man, I'm about to turn into one of 'those' guys who plunks down serious money for useless things. Just saw an article about action figures:

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/87282/20150922/new-skyrim-and-fallout-action-figures-on-the-way-from-funko.htm

I've seen the items from the Bethesda gift shop but they never really struck my fancy (except for the t-shirts which I could never find in my size).

The aciton figures seem more whimsical and cubicle friendly...

How long until Christmas?

Why would I want an action figure of some silly human man in a funny hat, when I'm pretty sure my Dragonborns have all been women/she-elves, etc, with far better dress sense :P

(Nah, they do look pretty cool, I just really don't see the appeal of Defaultkiin!)

Man, I really hate seeing the default characters like the Dovahkiin and Lone Wanderer getting top billing for stuff like this. My guys never look like them. I guess either way I hope the line is successful and maybe some notable characters like Vivec, Dagoth Ur, Sheogorath, M'aiq, Serana, or maybe in the vein of the Daedric armor an Ordinator get figures. I hope Cyrus is under consideration too, since he's a playable character with a defined look... in fact, now that his game is finally available again thanks to GOG, they could do a silly thing like they did for the old tabletop figurine of him and include a coupon for however much off the game if you bought him. That'd be pretty cool.

Anyway. Never owned a Funko Legacy. Anyone know how articulated these guys are? I like having a figuarts or NECA figure on my desk because it's fun to change things up with them every now and then. Hopefully these aren't too stiff... I'm a little concerend with that the Lone Wanderer in particular doesn't even look like he can hold his rifle properly unless extra hand parts are hidden somewhere. Also kinda weird he doesn't have a 10 mm, but maybe they could include that and a knife for a Vault 13 variant.

I know the feeling. My gals do not look like them either. :stare:

I consider these toys to be general symbols of Skyrim, a kind of reminder of something near and dear. I'm not treating them as representations of my actual characters. I'm sure there's a company out there with 3D printers, or something, that can make a customized, one-off version of my PC for the right price.

They're around, but only do WoW and Minecraft. There's never been a service for Skyrim/ESO/Fallout/whatever characters. Which is a shame, since it seems like a no brainer with them being series people get attached to their heavily customized player characters. I know I'd love one. Even better, make the generic armor figures like the Daedric warrior be head-swappable with 3D printed heads from a service and bam. Your own poseable figure of your character for your shelf or desk.

They're not overly difficult to make, you could have a mold printed, resin filled and painted.

3D printing machines are kinda expensive though. If I had one I'd have an idea for a business.

WoW and other mmos are easier to do, as access to the 3D models wearing specific gear is easily accessible. Machinima producers have been using tools like wow model viewer to rip open the mpq archives for years(they don't use mpq anymore).

I'd imagine for Skyrim it'd be more difficult without help. And modded races, armors, etc would be more trouble.
