Skyrim and real life responsibilities

Post » Fri Oct 14, 2011 5:33 am

I am sure that Skyrim will make me less responsible concerning my studies and to some extend my social life for at least one or two months. I'm going to try to prevent any serious damage though, like a study delay, but I'm not even 100% sure of myself that I can manage that, considering how much I :tes: and how much time I spent on Oblivion. I'll really have to push myself hard to study instead of playing Skyrim.

What about you?

It has kind of affected me, but I still keep up with studies and life, so no worries for me :)

Mostly under control, but I will probably not study as thoroughly as I would want to in the following couple of weeks or so.

The OP has implied that there is some kind of life outside of Skyrim?

During the Christmas holidays, with it most likely snowing outside, Skyrim won't affect my life in the slightest.

It'll affect me for sure. But I try to keep things normal after the weekend of 11-11-11.

I'll sure as hell skip alot of classes which I don't really need though, I need 80% attendance, saving up for Skyrim now by having 100%. ;)

What is this... "Real Life" you speak of? Does it taste good?

OT - My life will be as it was when Oblivion, FO3, and FNV came out respectively; get up at 8am, see if I have anything to do, if not (which is usually the case) Skyrim all day. Will still be here to help the family out if they need it of course, will just spend the majority of my days holed up in my room playing Skyrim, unless I feel like going for a brisk walk now and again.

Me neither. It's called retirement. I wake up every day with a month of Sundays in front of me.

Monday through Friday evening is work/class time. I don't play video games during the work week. Friday night - Sunday night will be all Skyrim.

The only thing that will change will be that Skyrim will be all I play during my free time. I'm still going to show up at work, pay the bills and all that not as fun stuff.

Responsibilities ALWAYS come first (child, wife, job, bills, etc.). Skyrim will be played at night immediately after the boy goes to bed (8 pm)!

I'm able to play for a few hours in the morning, and then a few hours from 9-bed. Im fine with getting 6-7 hours of sleep, so I'll probably stay up real late the first few nights, and get about 3 hours of sleep.

When skyrim comes out I will only come out of my room to use the restroom till I have my fill of it.

It looks like I might be single when it comes out, so I'll have some extra time. >_>

I voted #2. I am not a Nerd or something, but an Elder Scrolls fan.

You have it easy you know, family forces you to maintain your pattern. Hence I don't expect my social life won't suffer too much (my girlfriend definitely won't let me lock myself up), but there's nothing pushing me to take care of my studies except my own discipline (which has never been good in the first place, and will be overpowered by Skyrim).

But, it seems at least I am not the only one with one of the (semi)negative options!

I've already dumped my wife in anticipation, next I'm putting the kids up for adoption / sale. That should garner me some extra free time. Can't afford to lose my job though, or I'll never get to come on these forums
