Skyrim and the next generation

Hi, this is also my first post. :') I won't make this an introductory thread, but I will say have only been a fan of TES since Oblivion and consider the series to be definitely one of my favorites.

Apologies if there has been a similar thread previously.

Ok, looking at Skyrim, it is apparent that it is a beautiful world. Yet the size of the it and the attention to detail meant that some other features and effects I suppose had to omitted in order to accommodate this (not that the game was supposed to have these features). For example, looking out into the far distance, the rendering gets progressively worse. The world cant be loaded fully up to a certain point, trees start to look sparse, textures look low quality, and it seems to lack any sort of screen overlay or other rendering effects. Overall as stated before however, the game does look gorgeous. But having a look at some of the E3 next gen games, I would personally like to see Skyrim pushed to the next level, beyond what we see in the PC mods.

I would like to see proper motion blurring, a very dynamic depth of field which increases subtly with distance and a more realistic feel to it. The backgrounds fully rendered or made to look fully rendered, high quality with a slight blurring (again that depth of field look).

One thing I didn't like to much about the game was the formation of the mountains. In the far distance, they kind of looked like spikes, and not too realistic. In comparison, I saw a gameplay demo for Metal Gear Solid 5, and even though the mountains are completely different shapes, the way there are presented in the game looks brilliant - They look very highly detailed, and don't seem to loose their quality (they look almost photo realistic) I suppose you can use screen effects to give this illusion.Another example was GT5 prologue mountains. I couldn't tell if they were 3D, or photographs :')

So, would you want a version released for PS4, Xbox One? With sharpened textures, the world is fully rendered, much improved realistic distant terrains, (well improved everything at a distance), DOF, motion blurring, slightly deeper colour pallet (though this is personal choice, they could offer settings), and finally, if they could make the entire world and all the dungeons and cities open without loading screens (imagine going into cracks and caves in the mountains, to end up in the dungeons, rather than just through a loading screen) I wonder if the new consoles are powerful enough to do this.

And all this of course, professionally done, as much as I love the modding community!

The reason why I was thinking about this is because they recently released the legendary edition, which doesn't seem to offer anything new unless you're a PS3 player.

Would like to hear you thoughts :')

Welcome to the forums!

I do not want Skyrim retrofitted for the PS4 or Xbox One, unless that means it's going to get a serious overhaul in terms of all the bugs and glitches that remain in the current gen versions, which would also see some serious patching since they're already putting the work in to fix them up for the newer consoles.

Since I doubt that will happen, I'd rather they didn't bother.

Like I have said in other threads. I doubt it will happen.

Hmm, yep I would also want bugs and glitches to be fixed, and be able to complete quest lines.

I'd forget about any more patching being done. There's nothing to "retro fit" The XB1 is the same thing that runs the game now. It's just upgraded hardware. It's not some mystical new tech.

They may release the HD texture packs but that's about it.

Really? Then why not be backwards compatible for an extra selling point?
