I saw in-game footage and the trailer of Two Worlds II. I wasn't impressed. It just looks awkward and how weapons connect looks strange. It actually kind of reminds me of Age of Conan combat. I think Skyrim's combat will easily blow it out of the water. I know the spell system is based off some card slot mechanism now, but I honestly didn't even follow the game that much.

That's right TW II is not in the class level of a TES game, and is quite rough in comparison, but is catching up steadily, and has some nice ideas at work.

The fighting mechanism is quite an improvement over the TW I, but still a class-B game.

But I really like the crafting system and I thing it is superior to the one from MW and OB's Armorer skill, and FONV's crafting system, and almost any other crafting system that I have seen in a game.

In fact I have suggested a crafting system for future TES games http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1156909-on-mining-and-crafting which was inspired by the crafting system in TW II, but I have elder-scrollized the idea to fit in a TES game.

I didn't mind Two Worlds one, but then again, I wasn't really expecting to play Oblivion, or I would've played Oblivion, not Two Worlds

As long as they have enough fans to continue production (which because of the European market, I think they do) Two Worlds will continue to improve as a franchise. You have to understand that compared to TES, they are at a huge disadvantage. Elderscrolls started with Arena in '92, and so were able to build from the ground up, with each game improving equally in technology and gameplay.

Two Worlds jumped into the game market in 2006 needing modern graphics, physics, a hand made world, and a scope that rivaled the Elder Scrolls. I admit I was unimpressed with how some of the game worked (what really made me stop was having to kill the ghosts of EVERYONE and EVERTHING I killed. If ghosts were that damn prevalent and effective, how come I can't just die and continue to play as one?) but I knew it had a lot of character.

I think a few years down the line, TW3 or 4 may be an incredible game. They have a huge ambition, they include stuff that Elderscrolls hasn't touched in years like mounted combat and real time ships, which have the capability of adding a huge section of gameplay. After Oblivion came out I was worried the series would continue to simplify and mainstream, and games like Two Worlds would surpass it. As it is, Skyrim seems like a huge improvement, and I would definitely rent Two Worlds before buying it, but other than polish and better character creation, I think the series has huge potential.

-Character creation (or lack thereof) Seriously, one face with a few different skin tones and textures and ONE hairstyle? C'mon!

Huh? The character creation was way better than Oblivion, IMO.

There were like 7 or 8 faces with different facial morphs and like 10 hairstyles, plus height sliders, etc. Is the PS3 version that limited compared to the PC one?

Neither compare to EVE character creation though. So they're both crappy in my books. :P

He made this topic in the Skyrim discussion thread, but was moved by a moderator over here. So it was not his fault for making duplicate, but it was his fault for making a thread unrelated to Skyrim. lol

EVE Online? That's just a portrait creator, it doesn't make an actual character.

There is nothing i would like to see from TW2 in Skyrim! I can`t stand TW2! It is a boring, hack and slash Assassin`s Creed clone attempt. RPG lite for dummies.
If I wanted any of Reality Pumps` half assed features I`d just play TW2. TES are the games when I want immersive RPG`s..so no thanks, lets not really ruin TES titles.

TW2 = pile of kak

Played Two Worlds 2 for about six hours before putting it to bed. Money pissed down the drain if you ask me - 5.5 out of 10 at best, and I generally only play games hitting above the 8.5 mark. It was awful; unpolished, generic, uninspired, repetitive, had a crap story, minuscule singleplayer gameworld, crap art direction, crap mechanics, standard graphics and awful character creation, crap dialogue. I really hope this forum doesn't censor the word crap.

It failed to be everything that Skyrim will succeed to be (fingers crossed).

Are you actually comparing a much smaller developer to a giant in the game industry with a huge budget and a pedigree of many, many games? Really? Really?

The TW2 community seems to like comparing it to Oblivion for some reason. If it makes them happy thinking it`s an "Oblivion Killer" then whatever.

It's the most recent open-worldish RPG game after all.

Its worth a rental, thats about it. Its not an "RPG lite for dummies" though. Its more complex and deeper than Dragon Age, Fable or Mass Effect, its just unpolished. I got my 3.00 $ worth of entertainment. I'd put it up there with Divinity II and Sacred II, for one of the better Euro RPGs out. Unfortunately though, thats not really saying much.

My intent was to see what people thought of TW2, and how they thought it would compare to Skyrim. I was also curious what ideas people thought would and wouldn't fit in Skyrim. I guess that isn't Skyrimmy enough to warrant being in the Skyrim forum...If I create any further topics, I will give them the full Skyrim job

yeah.......in fact i use polearms almost exclusively cause of the dance dance aerobics animations that you get when using one handed weapons. unfortunately its still stylized combat so you still do a bit to much twirling.

I think TW2 is the best non Beth open world rpg out there. Of course that is not saying that much, as the others are the Gothics and Risen. I don't know if there is anything I would want taken from TW2 for Skyrim, more populated cities If I had to choose, but this is hardly a TW2 invention.

This.
