VG - Skyrim article

http://www.pressfire.no/nyheter/PC/3339/Vi-har-sett-The-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim

No new screenshots, reading through it at the moment.

Edit: sorry typo, its not from VG, but dagbladet :)

To sum it all up:

- Salmon can be seen jumping up river rapids.
- Finishing Moves are merely cinematic, and depend on your position as well as your weapon of choice.
- If you kill the arrow maker in a town, arrows will become much harder to acquire. Each town is THAT much of an ecosystem (TYVM Bethesda )
- Aggressive monsters will not necessarily attack you on sight. The demo character allowed a roaming Forest Troll to pass by him.
- Cast "Rage" on a pair of guards to make them attack eachother, then kill the remaining one.
- Both Acrobatics and Athletics have been removed from the game.
- For Oblivion, most dungeons were made by the programmers because Bethesda only had 2 dungeon designers. Now they have 9! You do the math.
- With soul gems, you can now create temporary effects like poisons or flaming arrows.
- Dungeons seem to have more triggers. Killing a Frostbite Spider woke up the Draugr of a dungeon.
- Circle of Protection is an AoE spell that protects you while in that area.
- 60+ dragonshout words as of yet (or maybe 60+ dragonshouts? 60 words = 20 shouts if all shouts have 3 words, which seems more correct).
- Dragons will utter the dragonshouts that they're using, just like you.

Translation of most important parts:
*"Compared to Oblivion, Skyrim has a much rougher terrain and nature, and is dominated by mountains(article writer says it reminds him of where he lives in Norway).

*They have made it so that the eyes of ur character are affected by the light/dark, so that if you run from a very dark room and out into bright sunlight, the eyes of the character will take a shortwhile to adapt(thats what the article says)

* Every job/work you see people do, you can also do.

* Shorter loading time then oblivion

* towns feel much more alive and more detailed.

* A small side-quest in Riverwood is mentioned:

There has been a robbery in one of the stores(you hear people talk about it), the shop owner tells you that a man named
Arvel the Swift has stolen a golden dragonclaw, and that he lives in a temple nearby.
A woman shows you the way, and walks together with you towards the temple, while having a conversation with you.
The huge mountain Throat of the World is nearby.
They arrive at the temple, Howard uses a detect life spell and spots two guards, he use a rage-spell on one of the guards, and the two guards fight eachother untill one of them are killed.
Then he takes out the last one with a long ranged bow-shot(it also says that you can hold ur breath while shooting, aswell as using the bow in slow-mo, both these two things are bow-perks).

The temple in the quest is called Bleak Fall Temple. When they arrive there a snowstorm rages. (article mentions that the temple was used to worship ancient dragons in older times).

Inside the temple, two guards are talking, he takes out one of the guards with a sneak-shot arrow, and the other one says "I know i heard something!!"(even though the other guard infront of him got a arrow through the head)
(article writer mentions that the dungeons are much more detailed then in oblivion)
They find the thief, Arvel, but he sprints further into the cave, they fight some other bandits, finds a soul gem while looting one of them, and continue further into the temple.

They find Arvel, he is now stuck in a big spiderweb, and there are spider eggs in the room. A huge Frostbite Spider enters the room(player kills it with sword and magic).

Arvel asks you to help him down from the web, but once you do, he only tries to flee. The player(howard) kills him with a slow-motion arrow.
They loot him and finds a journal and the dragonclaw.

On their way out of the temple, it is suddenly crawling with Draugr(zombies) that has been awaken by the killing of the giant-spider.

Howard explains that the draugr there are the undeads of ancient nord warriors who used to protect the temple.

Howard casts a spell, Circle of Protection, which creates a "bubble" which makes you take less damage, if you stand in it.(same one seen in the official trailer i think)
One of the draugr drops a magic staff/stave (but it isnt explained if it functions as a melee weapon, ranged or something else).

Howard says: "You can go all gandalf-style if you want to" and points out that you can wield a dual wielde staffs if you want to.

They enters a huge room called Hall of Stories, there are runes on the walls, written in the dragon-tongue.
They demonstrate the Unrelentable Force(dragonshout), they cast it near a table, and everything on the table flies through the room.

When finally out of the temple, a dragon arrives and attacks you, and they here it speaks when blowing a fireball towards you.

Apparently, they were on a Bethesda event a week ago where they got the information to write this article. So I don't see why they have to include the new screenshots. They're not difficult to find anyway.

I'll read through it, but considering it's Norwegian I highly doubt it reveals anything new. We norwegians typically just copy the [censored] out of everyone else, unless we're stating the obvious (hooray for us). Gamer magazines are just like TV shows, we might call a show The Robinson Expedition (in norwegian, not english), but it's really just our version of Survivor xD

Lenge leve Norge :D

Ive translated the most important parts(some that are new i think), probably most interesting is the side-quest they do, and the slow-mo Bow perk, and another bow-perk that allows you to hold down ur breath(to aim more accurately i guess).
The article says that they will have far more info coming out tomorrow, with a Q&A. (my english is not flawless, but should be understandable).

Some fun (and certainly embarrassing for the developers) imperfections lingers from "Oblivion" the time when we enter the Temple and dive deeper into the cave systems beneath it. Two guards stood chatting in the shadows, and an arrow is in the mind of one. "I know I heard something!" Exclaimed the other, barely misses where the other stood, to much laughter in the courtroom. Hopefully, this black-and-white interpretation of what is shaded and not fixed to the release!

If I interpret that correctly, is that the same bad AI behaviour that Oblivion has in the same situation? If yes, they BETTER fix it. Seriously.

Yep, seems like it. The thing that bothered me most in oblivion was that guards etc. automaticly knew where you were though, but from what ive read it appears they have fixed that part at least

It's finally possible to cast Rage (Frenzy) on guards? Noice.
"Both Acrobatics and Athletics have been removed from the game." Not that bad
"Aggressive monsters will not necessarily attack you on sight. The demo character allowed a roaming Forest Troll to pass by him." That's even better.

i dont think anyone else mentioned this, and i havent seen it in the other articles either: when you leave a dark place and enter somewhere light, you will be a bit blinded by the light for a sec. it also works the other way around, so if you enter a dark place, your eyes need to get used t the darkness before you can see everything clear. cool detail!
