I was trying to think of the whole game as a man standing in front of me, this character was the result:

A swashbuckling hard boiled Nord rogue s.o.b. with a hood and dagger, and a pair of chilling hard eyes over an equally chilling hard smirk, ready to jump on the victim.

It fit the atmosphere that I imagine for the game, quite well.

Then I thought on what I thought of Oblivion and this character appeared:

A young and guileless Imperial knight with a bright if a bit apprehensive smile.

Then I thought about Morrowind, but I could not picture it as an NPC, until I gave up and chose Sheogorath himself.

So if Skyrim took the shape of an NPC, what it would be like? :)

I think the guy that has shown up in some of the other magazine releases fits the role well.

I say more a big, burly nord, with a scarred body and a big beard, holding a axe in each hand and dressed for battle.

I'd say Skyrim would be a jolly looking Nord barbarian with the biggest axe you've ever seen, nice guy to be around. He won't hesitate if you get in his way though. Bounce, bounce go the heads.

ATM...
An old lady muttering to herself in the corner about sweeties she's got while flashing the occasional bit of skin making you wish you were blind.

Hopefully on release Beowulf.

So, Nord barbarians are the rage here. Let's imagine them naked as well. Where is that witch?

Yes Beowulf masquerading as an old lady, trying to capture our hearts, by flashing occasional bits of skin, well that would rightfully make me wish I were blind. :)

Edit: BTW, can we add a poll at this point?

I obviously had completely different thoughts. When you said "the game as a character", I immediately thought of a really irresistible lady.
I could elaborate on the parallels, but I just tried and it turns out bizarre, so let's just leave it at that.

Morrowind was the stereotypical nerd girl with glasses that turns out to be the love of your life once you get to know her. Oblivion was the amazingly sixy woman that just wasn't on the same wavelength as you, which made you really, really sad. :(

Heh, so they are female. :)

Never thought of it like that, but it makes sense, all of them capture our time a lot.

According to you, Morrowind is the woman that is exactly my type. I guess I'm going to stop talking to people and play Morrowind now lol.

I'd say its the guy we have seen on the Magazine covers or Conan.

Walter from Fable 3, but with an even bigger weapon, and even awesome-r, I mean, he has a mug on his belt, what else says Skyrim like a mug on your belt?

Seriously though... I imagine a huge buff barbarian with a giant beard with the ends caught on fire and burnt, a giant dragon helmet, equipped with dragonscale plates with leather underarmor, a giant axe in one hand, and a fable-sized axe in the other, all of this complete with were-wolf skin boots and of course a keg of mead strapped to his back like a backpack.

This sounds like something out of Planescape.

Hmm... Skyrim incarnate... I see a... Gandalf Schwarzenegger with a pinch of Hellboy.

Interesting how we're all so quick to jump to the barbarian/adventurer image. Personally, in keeping with the game's darker, more "primeval" feel, I'm imagining a dark and somber Norse spellsword or wizard clad in robes, muttering Draconic incantations and shooting energy from his hands. Of course, I'm obsessed with all of that Gothic dark age Latin stuff. :read:

For good measure, here's my envisioning of all of the previous games' respective characters:

Arena: A wisened old knight with years of experience and a tired look in his eyes. Stoic-faced, and ready to undertake a great journey across the Empire spanning decades.
Daggerfall: A cutthroat elven archer or assassin amidst a spiel of treachery and intrigue.
Morrowind: Believe it or not, I think of a fierce-looking Argonian, in leather armor wielding a spear fighting valiantly against a tide of Sixth House abominations.
Oblivion: An daring adventurer of some sort, perhaps a bard. Imperial. Bold and tactful, but also very naive.

a rogue, wearing darkened leather armor with a fur cloak bellowing in the wind, on a cloudy night standing on a the edge of a cliff watching his mark below. Calculating his plan of attack, he pulls his sword a little out of its sheath and drops back in making sure its clear.

his mark stumbles on the path he is on a good fifty feet bellow him. the rogue's pulse quickens, his senses peak, his palms sweat, he licks his lips with the knowing that it is time. he leaps from his pearch, his cloak flying above his head, he pulls his sword free and with both hands on the hilt points the blade down so that it will sever the marks spine. in the last seconds of his life the mark heard the flapping in the wind. he looked up to see it was deaths wings flapping in the air to take him to the great beyond.

I always envision the characters I played when I see a game.

For Morrowind, it was a Redguard; weathered from years of time spent in an Imperial prison, a long journey, and a fate he doesn't quite understand. Clad in Glass and Ebony armor, cleaving Dagoth Ur in half with a claymore as tall as himself.

Oblivion, it was a cunning Imperial; spurned by his countrymen, and forced to live a life in seclusion from civilization until a continuing disaster forces him from his comfort to fulfill the last request of a man he barely knew. Wielding spell and bow with terrible prowess, he forces hordes of hellish beasts back to whence they came to protect one man and the hopes of an empire.

For Skyrim, I'm going to have to speculate that it will be a massive Nord; laboring for years in lonesome training, until he undergoes a journey through forgotten caverns to learn an ancient language and repel an ancient hunger. Carrying a massive ax, and oaken shield, he rips dragons out of the sky with his bare hands while burying his weapons in their skulls.

At least, that's what I can hope. If they put in spears, that will replace ax, otherwise that's about it.
