Skyrim "bBackground Keyboard=1" equivalent?

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 5:45 am

Every config file I could find for Skyrim (skyrim.ini, skyrimprefs.ini, skyrim_default.ini) I've placed

[Controls]bBackground Keyboard=1

and yet the multimedia keys (volume, play, pause, stop etc) on my keyboard fail to function when Skyrim is in fullscreen. It's really annoying because my speakers anolog controller volume is set to maximum and once I'm in game playing I can't increase the volume without exiting.

i had background keys failing to work.. such as trying to use fraps or whatever..

and for some strange reason.. the moment i applied the 4GB Skyrim Launcher... all those started working..

don't know if it'll fix your issues.. but it's just bizarre how a LAA fix seems to be a magical cure for many things.

Just tried your LAA patch solution but didn't solve the problem.

I wonder why they would remove such a simple function from Skyrim when they "modified" the Gamebryo engine.

You can always [alt][tab] out the game, change the volume, and [alt][tab] back in. ;) Make sure to left-click on the window and wait a few seconds.

I wish it was that easy, when I alt tab the game either crashes immediately or it'll run like crap for a while THEN crash. I've had the same problem with FO3 and Oblivion. Alt tabbing those games led to nothing but problems.

You could try using the media keys during the loading screens. That always works for me. B) Just don't [shift][tab] or do anything else. Steam doesn't like it.

Try using the ENBDev patch if you're having problems with crashing -- http://enbdev.com/index_en.html
