Skyrim's Best Companions

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 9:50 am

I was wondering which companion is the best one, now i'm having Aela the Huntress accompanying me.
She's good in a fight and she's a good archer.

But i'm thinking of having J'zargo join me, he uses bad ass dual destructive spells, and he can use Heavy Armor but I think i'll use Light armor.
I'm thinking enchanted Dragonscale armor with Fortify Magicka and Regenerate Magicka, plus a ring and amulet.

That could be bad ass :D

Btw, her's a Companions Ranking: http://www.ugo.com/games/skyrims-best-companions?page=3

Ghorbash the Iron Hand, That Orc can tear apart any foe you come across. I don't recall seeing him ever go down at all even against Ancient Dragons

When I'm playing my Warrior build, I've found that Illia is the best companion. The combo between an axe & board warrior and a capiable Destruction mage for support makes it really fun to play.

For my Mage, I'd say any of the Housecarls would do.

For my Thief, Annekke Crag-Jumper is a perfect match. She's a naturally gifted Agent-type class that won't give your position away while sneaking (at least most of the time).

I constantly use Mjol the Lionness, she's my wife and makes an excellent tank. And now that I've got her set up in pretty good ebony armor, she's beast mode in combat, she never dies and she dishes out plenty of hurt. She complements my in your face dual axe wielder of ouchyness well. I let her go in, then I run around and chop everyone up from behind.

If you're playing a mage or archer, get a warrior follower. Lydia works well, but so do many others.
If you're playing a warrior, use one of the mages. Just be careful of the potential for friendly fire. They just do not give a crap where you are. If you're in the way, you WILL eat the fireballs/iceballs. I've found Marcurio at the start of the game is good, and either Aranea (my pick) or Illia are good picks. Haven't tried J'Zargo but he should work.
If you're the sneaky type, Marcurio apparently has a high sneak skill, as does Janessa, Failing that, just give someone some muffle boots and you're good to go.

I take wifey (Aela) with me most places. Her sneak is good, she's good with the bow and doesn't get in the way.

The mage at the Azura shrine is very good too. Had a battle the other day where I summoned my dremura (sp?), frost atronach and flame atronoch, she also summoned her flame atronach. 6 of us leathering a cave full of angry mages. Good times

I've only tried a few companions, so I can't really say which is best, but I rather like Brelyna Maryon. She's quite sweet, she sneaks reasonably well, and her wards and atronachs mean she can generally take care of herself. If you give her a decent staff, she's pretty effective. Oh, and she's very easy to pick up as well.

I'm using Eola at the moment, who you get after completing the Namira Daedric quest, and she's got to be one of the best in the game. She summons fire atronachs, uses destructions, bows and swords. Pretty much can do everything really.

Aela. None can compare with her. I will take her as my wife later this day. I am spending my smithing skill to make her a glass armor sets. Hope it cool. :celebration:

You should try to get 100 in smithing so you can make dragon armor, I made dragoplate for myself and dragon scale for her, she looks pretty good ;)

Erandur. I figured he was a priest so he wouldn't be wearing armor, though he wouldn't wear the robes I gave him. Then I handed him some ebony to carry for me and he put it on instantly! Apparently, he's more the badass battlemage type.

Also he comments on everything, which I love! He'll tell you about himself and is just the most cheerful guy, for all that he has a rather dark past. Everything's amazing, according to Erandur, haha.

I use Jenassa. I got her at lv 30 and right now she is using my Nightingale armor. She uses my Nightingale bow and dual wields my Nihgtingale Sword and Chillrend. I upgraded the bow to Legendary and she killed a slaughter fish from 100 yards while it was under water. Much better aim than me. Also her ingame class is Ranger, so I think Archery is her highest combat skill.
