Skyrim better have a good soundtrack

Post » Fri Jul 01, 2011 5:02 am

Just finished infamous two, and all i can say is that game is one the best of 2011, one of its defining features was it's soundtrack,

P.S. if you don't like these songs then please don't hate comment. Skyrim packs a hella punch of a soundtrack ( you know Jeremy soule has it under control, but, you never know ) i hope it's gonna be as sick as infamous'

Notice how these songs set the mood? This is what i want of Skyrim, music to match the tense/sad/mysterious/dark gameplay of Skyrim

It has Jeremy Soule. It's pretty much impossible for it to not have the best soundtrack of the year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDjovrzqDJM&feature=autoplay&list=LLslgyQr6g80o&index=9&playnext=4 is the example of a good video game soundtrack
I'm not fond of that song and I would be quite annoyed if I heard a song in Skyrim where some guy starts singing. I want instrumental music, although some minor choirs are ok too.

What i meant of a "good video game soundtrack" is a soundtrack that compliments the game world I don't want this song in Skyrim, what i want is a song that makes the world feel sad at sad moments angry at aggressive moments ( like aggressive music in a battle or sad music entering a dragon sieged town ) the song i posted highlights the sad ending of Infamous two.

i want it to be as aweesome as oblivion
every soundtrack had something uniqe
the battle themes lacked of something imo, but the exploring themes and town themes were the best i`ve heard

i have the feeling this time will be the opposite

I'd have to disagree on that, I actually found much of Jeremy Soule's work on past Elder Scrolls games kind of bland. I liked the main themes for Morrowind and Oblivion, but the rest of the music was mostly just okay. I wouldn't say it was bad, it certainly wasn't unpleasant to hear and didn't clash with the world, but most of the tracks were kind of boring and really tended to blend together after a while. However, what I've heard of Skyrim's music so far at least is very promising, if the rest of the music is up to the standards of what I've heard so far of Skyrim's, then I'd say we have nothing to fear, except maybe not having enough variety, but that's an issue independent from the quality of individual tracks. Even the best song ever made I'm sure would get repetitive if you listen to it constantly.

They diden't set my mood. Diden't like those soundtracks at all. Jeremy Soule is the only one that could make fitting TES music.

Oblivion, in my opinion, has the best soundtrack of any game ever made. And Morrowind has one of the best main themes of any game. I therefore have no concerns that Skyrim's soundtrack will be anything less than awesome.

The music in Oblivion began to grate after a while, but it wasn't bad, just overbearing. Especially so since no matter how low you turn the music down (until it's off) it always ends up being louder than people's voices at max. I hope they remedy this. Also the battle music got to the point where as soon as I heard DUN! Dun! DUN DUN DUN! I would just think "Godammit not again!"

I'm pretty sure that Skyrim will have an amazing soundtrack .Oblivion is one of my favorites ever. Simply stunning . I would almost buy skyrim just for the Soundtrack alone. From what i've heard so far anyway. Love the massive 30+ mens quire. Sounds incredible. I would like more of it and hope to buy it on CD too ..or atleast download an Mp3 of it.

lol can't big the soundtrack up enough for these games. Top class. Now...give us Dx11 and we will have it all ;)

EDIT .. as an after thought ,is there any where i can purchase some of Jeremy Soule's work?? (must include Oblivion)

Just listen to what Soule did with a similar setting for Guild Wars: eye of the north: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8HftCKcDXA . There is no doubt that Skyrim's score will be one of the best that games have to offer this year. I also have high expectations for Assassins Creed Revelations. The one for AC2 and Brotherhood was simply amazing.

The soundtracks for the Norns (big, axe-wielding, norse inspired vikings that have a tendency to turn into furries)...

should put ALL fears to rest.

I really dont like Jeremy Soule's work and I really dont understand what people see in his music, it has no emotion no nothing, it is bland, it makes me feel nothing, what the [censored] do you guys see in his music? I just dont see it, it is pissing me off, everyone says how great his music is but I just dont see what is so great about it, even when he tries to pump his music up like the main Oblivion theme it just sounds pretentious like it is trying to be something that it cant ever hope to be, what the hell do you guys see? I feel like I am taking [censored] crazy pills, I cant be the only one who feels this way can I?

Some people just don't get it.

The music is meant to be relaxing, atmospheric and beautiful... not loud and exciting.

It's possible, but Jeremy Soule is awesome. It will be one of the best soundtracks.

I second this motion! but to a degree. I did like 1 of his songs in oblivion AND THAT'S IT manly because the elder scrolls is the only RPG i play aside from mass effect, dragon age & fallout the rest are all shooters. Soule needs to needs to make the songs more like the songs in Infamous
