Skyrim Blogs

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 4:25 pm

I would like to join, I never done this thing before... my only worry is about keeping up with what I play with what I write :) But I remember reading about Oblivion's blog at the time and I was really enjoying what was written that comes from other humans imagination, about playing a great game with everyone having his own set of rules.

Thank you.
I like the family tree of your character. Those kind of things are always interesting to me. Are they going to have any sort of part in her adventures or is it just for fun?

The family will have a role in the character history I'm working on, for lets say the prequel part before her adventures in Skyrim. Unfortunately most of them won't be alive at game release, except for one brother. But the family, as well as a few outside characters, will be molding her to the character she will be at the beginning of her Skyrim adventure. I'm mixing personality and occupations of family members, Nord lore as well as some Norwegian history/myth into her character history, so it takes a bit of research. I've got most stuff written down now, still need to find some time to put it in the blog :)
I'm saving the one brother for some possible future use, have some ideas for a roleplayed quest, but those still have to chrystalize a bit, and are prob for much later in the playthrough.

It's good fun keeping a gaming blog, and i think it might actually make it easier to stay in character (in case of a roleplaying based blog at least).

Oh I see. It sounds interesting. I look forward to reading it.

I think it would be easier to stay in character as well, which is partly why I want to write it. Another part is it's good writing practice and I love to write. (And november is http://www.nanowrimo.org/)

I'm hoping to make my blog one where I try to interact with followers as well as updating my adventures in Skyrim. This will probably br accented with some pictures and videos. I am trying to make it sarcastic, cynical, yet fun to read. Hope you like it!

I decided my 'here is a placeholder tell the game comes out' post was pretty lame, so I went ahead and changed it to an initial journal entry with some background on my planned character. Seems a bit more fun this way.

You read my mind; I was wishing for something like this. So I am new to the whole blogging thing and have just started setting it up. I am calling it Hecua's tales. Hecua was a minor character in The Infernal city, an Argonian alchemist from Lilmoth who helped the main character out. Anyway for my purpose she is going to tell back ground stories about my things my character(s) experience in Skyrim. http://hecuastales.blogspot.com/

Mine's in the sig. I'm going to do mine as a role-play, and will also impose some rules for my character, just to make things more interesting. I'm going to have to learn to jot down journal notes after every in-game day, or else I'll completely lose track of what I'm doing and just fly through several in-game weeks without thinking.

I'm going to check out everyone else's later tonight, but I don't think I'll read them once the game's out, until I've beaten the game and most of the side/guild quests.

Are we allowed to bump on here?

Anyways, just in case, I'll add something not completely pointless.

It's cool that more people have been adding blogs. I doubt I'll have much time to read anyone else's in the first few days (with playing, writing my own and trying to avoid spoilers), but it'll be great to read some of these once I'm well into the game and not much is a surprise anymore. I think that's how most people here are doing it.

Btw I added everyone else's blog (except for the youtube one with the incomplete link) to mine in their own section.

That link is to your blog editor (which only you can access) and not to the blog itself, that's why the link won't work for us ;)

Very cool idea. You could check out Posterous.com. It allows for a collaborative blog to be set up. The group of contributors could then post to their own blog and share (post) certain things to the colaboration as well.

OP: The only drawback i see with your idea is potential for spoilers. Even if I've played for 50 hours or more, if I read other's blogs it could spoil something. The group would have to follow a strict spoiler rule set.

Seems I'm late to the party... found this thread through the post on Shilka's blog. :)

I was a big fan of Nondrick's Non-Adventure back in those heady days when we were all still playing Oblivion. I wanted to do a semi-comedic playthrough blog in a similar vein but didn't want to rip off Nondrick's author. To make mine different, I decided that rather than play as if I were a normal NPC as he did, I will play as if it was the actual me who had been somehow magically transported to Skyrim. I'm using 10 rules to restrict my actions so that I try to avoid becoming the hero I never wanted to be: my prediction is that the way the game is set up will make it very hard to avoid adventure, showering me with quest opportunities and moments of intrigue, much to my chagrin and thus spawning the funnies. Well, that's my hope anyway...

Not really sure how I should be classified - I'm roleplaying the actions of my character, me, but as I'll have gone into the game with prior knowledge of TES and experiences from our world it'll be interspersed with non-Skyrim themed inner monologue/commentary/observations. Semi-roleplay? Mostly roleplay? Whichever the case, It'll be fairly low spoiler as I'm avoiding the main quest and any heroism as much as possible.

Linky is in my sig. :)
