Skyrim "Bobble Heads"

Post » Fri May 14, 2010 6:19 am

Alright, So considering that Bethesda always like to utilize mechanics from their previous games, Example: perks now available in Skyrim. Do you guys think that Skyrim will have a "Bobble head" not in the literal sense but in the conventional sense. Do you guys think that they will have collectibles that effect a particular part of the gameplay? Would you guys welcome it? Haven't seen this topic yet so here ya go!

No I dont like bobble heads.

For collection quests they should merely have things like Nirn Root. And NOT make it a quest in my quest log. I was anoying that I couldnt get those collection quests out of my log.

I loved collecting bobble heads in fallout but at the same time it also annoyed me because it made me feel like I couldn't make any skill past 90 since it would be a waste of 10 points once I got the bobble head. Might be nice to add collectibles in the game just to collect things though, pretty up the house ya know? No buffs or changes to gameplay but something nice to visually have in your home.

It would be great if maybe there was a separate section in your log. Like in NV challanges were separate from quests. If they had quests and 'gathering things' it would be easy to keep track of, without them mucking up your nice clean quest log. (I'm the same way)

It will have dragon shouts, however you can see them as sigil stones for spells rather than bobbleheads.
I doubt we will get something who increase skills 10 points or something except from that daeric book.
Partly because the way levelling and skill increase works you will benefit of fining them late. far harder to go from skill level 90 to 100 than 10 to 20, so if I saw a bobblehead I would wait with picking it up until the skill was high.

Like the skill books from Morrowind and Oblivion? Can't imagine why they'd suddenly stop now.

Would you guys welcome it?

I got no problem with bringing skill books back for another round. Now, dragging in the whole annoying "1 for every single skill with a counter and achievement for finding them all" thing...

yeah that was the part that turned me off to it in fallout. It would be nice if they had daedric specific spells that you can learn from books. Maybe that would be the nice reward? But at the same time you always have those daedric artifacts from doing quests at the shrines..

I have a secret guilty pleasure: I LOVE collectibles. In any game. For any reason. You don't even have to explain to me why I'm collecting them (guess who knocked down every can pyramid in Alan Wake!). Give me something to collect and I will collect them zealously until I have them all.

So, yes please. Preferably something lore-related and meaningful to my character, but I'll collect it either way. As many collectibles as possible!

Well they had Nirn roots in Ob, and Bobblehead in FO3. So I would not be suprise to see some kind of collection quest. And I do enjoy that sort of them myself, so I hope its in.

I hate collectibles. I hated em before and I hate em now. No doubt they will be in Skyrim and I'll hate em then too.

I hope they have a nirn root glass case or something we can display them in our homes. I liked that idea about the bobble heads in FO. Just sayin.

Will Skyrim have a set of unique and powerful trinkets and items that are capable of significantly increasing your character's by mysterious means that could only be explains as "magic"?

Sarcastic teasing aside - a set of rare sometimes seemingly innocuous items that magically increase your characters abilities don't seem quite as out of place in a phantasy setting as the bobble heads with their mystic totem like ability to make you a better you. Their original set of sometimes strange and often powerful unique items with a vaguely common theme has been the daedric artifacts for each of the daedric lords. Basically in a phantasy setting they don't need to have something that requires the extra suspension of disbelief that magic stat increasing bobble heads did for fallout. I mean you're a hero prophecy amd semi divine heritage who can eat the souls of dragons - you've already suspended enough disbeleif to accept a rose that summons demons or a stick that polymorphs whoever you whack with it (actual daedric artifacts that have been as far back at least as Daggerfall.)

The collection quests would probablly be to collect all 60 dragon shout words.

Its funny to think that the dragon language has only 60 words (yeah I know that's not quite implied by that). I don't imagine they have that much appreciation for stand up comedy or poetry - especially when an inartfully chosen word would vaporize the audience.

I doubt it, but I'd love to see a easter egg bobble-head somewhere, just for looks.

I still want them to make a whoopie cushion out of leather and call it "The Ripper" as thunderjunk had mentioned went on around the office as a practical joke.

You mean in adiition to the Dragon Shouts? Sure, but I don't think it should have an effect on your skills, but maybe give you a perk(or choice of perks) for collecting all of them. Or just have some rare stuff without benefits. Or both.

I would love that, just like I loved bobbleheads.

But I wouldn't care if they add anything, would love them as collectibles without any boosts too.

Nirnroots for sure.. but I hope it's not in a similar quest like it was in OB. Uh :(

But yes as said before, words of power found on walls in ruins will basically be the same thing as a bobble-head that increases your skills/attribute.
