Skyrim is BROKEN

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 8:21 am

The only one of these I've experienced is the items in my house falling off things when I leave the house and return. Try saving your game after placing items, then reloading the game. Once you get to them to stay in position they stay there for good.

Yes, it is. Because those items glitch back to the place that I dropped them. If I drop an item by the door and place it on a shelf all the way across the house, it ends up back on the floor by the door when I exit and re-enter my home.

A game is broken not when something in it doesn't work but when the thing you bought it for doesn't work. If your house is the most important thing to you about the game, then may I recommend Animal Crossing? The things in your post are just minor bugs: annoying, maybe, but nowhere near enough to justify the claim that the game as a whole is broken.

So if you bought a CD from a store and 3 out of the 12 tracks skipped, it still serves it's purpose right?

I am playing again. So whenever I come across the werewolf thing, I will try that. As for the arrows, I am going to do that as soon as I am done killing this [censored] dragon.

I have been asking over and over again for help on the forums, and had absolutely no help on certain issues. That's not what this is about, because I don't know who could actually help me besides a developer.

For the past 3 days (Real life days) when I play Skyrim I have had an arrow and an ice bolt stuck in my character. I have tried everything from equipping different armor, no armor equipped, getting shot by more arrows and ice bolts, re-loading, zoning into a house or other building, etc. So anytime I go into a third person view I am stuck with a 10 foot ice bolt sticking out of my back and a stupid arrow out of the front of my head.

Secondly, my weapon racks in Whiterun do not work. No matter what I have equipped, how close I stand, what buttons I press, or what direction I look- I have the same problem. THEY WON'T WORK.

Thirdly, I have absolutely no idea why- but ONLY Skyrim keeps freezing. It's not periodic, it's more random than that. It seems like once it starts to strain a little on the graphic (e.g. lots of fast movements with dragons and npcs piled on to the screen) it freezes for 5 seconds, unfreezes for about a half a second, and then freezes my entire console. This is the ONLY game that does this to my Xbox.

I have noticed as well that I can not decorate my home in Whiterun. Why? Because anything I put on the shelves seems to be laying on the floor once I re-enter my home. This stuff includes things at the top of dressers where no npc can "bump" it off. The only functioning thing in my entire house are the bookshelves and storing items in dressers.

To add to that, my upstairs room walls have disappeared numerous times. The only visible thing left are the doors and dressers. My walls are gone and my bed is gone.

I am beyond pissed off with the game as it stands. This is my favorite game and I can't enjoy it because dumb [censored] like this keeps happening. I really hope they fix this soon.

EDIT: To add to the list of problems, I also find that if I Shout to quickly in a battle the shout doesn't trigger. The game reads that I did because for the next 5-10 seconds I can't attack or cast spells. Leaving whatever to pound on me. Sweet. So no shout actually went off and I can't attack.

It has a lot of bugs in three years time they will be fixed.

I remember the good old days when games weren't shipped out with bugs because they had no way to patch them. Now that they can, most big titles are shipped broken/buggy and are fixed a month later. The only reason there are pre-order bonuses are because they get people to not wait a month for a working game. Examples of buggy games when they first come out: Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Brink, etc

Daggerfall anyone?

No idea what fixed it, but the ice bolt and arrows just went away. At least for now. They seem to pop up again from time to time.

For the arrow and icicle, see a surgeon.
For the weapons rack to work, you need the "decorator" perk.
For freeze issues...well Skyrim is a freezing place after all...

Jokes aside,I hear you bro XD

Your simile doesn't really work though. Most of your complaints aren't about the tracks on a CD, or even the bonus tracks on the CD. They're more like complaints about the font the credits are printed in on the lyrics booklet.

Could also be Hardware related.

Remember... Games of this magnitude can easily tax a system to its limit.

If your system is old or faulty, then it could be causing unwanted issues.

Something to think about.

To the OP: you have my sympathies, I to have experienced many of these. Oddly, it is testament to how good the rest of the game is that we put up with these bugs and play it and I even find myself recommending it to other people. And it really needs to be fully patched - and quickly. If this where any other game I would have returned it.

The OP refers to a crash that occurs when the screen gets busy and full of action, that's what's happens when a video card overheats...
try finding a utility that allows the card fan(s) to be cranked up, or turn down the graphics, or buy a new card.

ATI users can get MSI Afterburner to crank the fans up for free.

The OP said he had an Xbox, not a PC. The same issues are taking place on the PS3.

Bugs I've experienced: Giants give you a boost to the clouds with one hit, sneak up to someone and melee attack them: they 'discover' you mid swing and press shout button to no avail then wait to be able to shout again even though it didn't work.

Apart from the bug with the Giant all of these have happened once, three times max. I've been playing for 66 hours. Bothered - nope :icecream:

OMG ... stuff falls of the shelf in your house!!! The game really IS broken!!!

Some people take their home decorating in The Elder Scrolls seriously. I know I do. I hate the new item placement system. I feel Oblivion did the item placement better. When you leave and come back to your house what reason is there to have your items littered everywhere there is none. I hate they did not polish and think threw the home decorations. Also there is the stupid problems with the display cases and wall mounts and weapon racks. It's simply infuriating.

Not had any of the OP's problems. I have had an arrow or two stick arounf but they disappear. I have had one CTD nad have come across one broken quest (report a dead husband to the mill lady-- I used to a console code to complete it and get off the quest list). Nothing to go on major rant about from me.

Nothing at all like the mess carmack put out called rage.

To the OP about ice shards try getting stuck with a few more shards or arrows. I have had that problem with arrows anyway and I am pretty sure you can inky have like five in you at once and then they fade away. Hope it helps it worked for me.

Yeah, your right. My booklet doesn't have any [censored] font in it. I see smudges of ink and a few letters.

1) Constant freezing. Sometimes three times in a row, freezing the game for like 15-20 seconds.
2) Slowing FPS eventually, having to "constantly" restart the game.
3) UI problems and inconsistencies.
4) When performance drops, I have to save/load to get the high detail lods loaded. I've crossed the bridge into a town with snow covering 50cm high on the bridge (low detail lod), only to fall to my death at the other end because the gate wasn't loaded yet and the low lod one lacking collision or something.

With #1 being the most severe game killer. I'm pretty patient, but it's wearing thin...

Hmmm, for the arrow stuck in you bug, have you tried waiting, then pressing cancel before the wait actually begins? That worked in oblivion, LOL. worth a try in skyrim i suppose.

I have had multiple quest not work. I can't use the find location on some quest in the map screen. I am exactly 87 hours in, and can't do most the quest on my lost cause they either fail to work or just won't direct me. I have a guide but I don't want to spoil the game. Hurry with the freaking patch!!!!

All news to me, and I'm using PC version?

Same, and I'm on the Xbox version.

The only issue I've had is the arrow one and the arrow goes away if your shot again/transform into a werewolf.

My game has never frozen.
