Skyrim SE bug: No geometrymesh loaded when playing the game

Post » Thu Nov 17, 2016 11:34 pm

Hi there,

I got Skyrim SE since I owned all Skyrim DLC. I installed it the day after it was released, but when I started a new game, after the black screen with Bethesda Present - Skyrim, the games opened on a blured faraway background, with absolutely nothing else.

The sound and movement of opening scene goes as usual, with the dialogues, normal sounds etc. I can move around like in the original skyrim, but it is missing all geometry. No characters, no carriage, no horse, no ground, no landscape, nothing, except blurred far away trees and the sky.

At no point the geometry (or mesh, or whatever it is that's missing) comes back, so obviously it is unplayable.

I've tried reinstalling several times, trying some tweaks I found online, but I couldn't find a single post of somebody sharing my problem.

I don't have any mod installed, and the old Skyrim runs perfectly on my machine (with the occasional ctd).

If you have any idea of what I should do to fix this, it would be great!

Thanks a lot for your help

Has anything messed with sResourceArchiveList or Llst2 in the ini file? If there's nothing there, then the meshes can't be found. I think MO may dynamically adjust these, and so NMM may have also started doing so.

Of course the bsa files themselves could be missing, but I'd expect a message for that. An empty list may make the game think there's nothing to load.

Try deleting the mesh files located at: {SteamLibrary}\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data

Meshes0.bsa and Meshes1.bsa. Steam will redownload them.

You can also try verifying the game cache.

Thanks a lot for your answers,

The integrity of the cache was good. I tried to delete the 2 meshes.bsa, Steam is currently downloading them back.

Inside Skyrim.ini, I couldn't find anything named "Llst2"

Concerning "sResourceArchiveList", here is the section mentionning it:

" [Archive]

sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes0.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes1.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa

sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices_en0.bsa, Skyrim - Textures0.bsa, Skyrim - Textures1.bsa, Skyrim - Textures2.bsa, Skyrim - Textures3.bsa, Skyrim - Textures4.bsa, Skyrim - Textures5.bsa, Skyrim - Textures6.bsa, Skyrim - Textures7.bsa, Skyrim - Textures8.bsa, Skyrim - Patch.bsa

bLoadArchiveInMemory=1

sArchiveToLoadInMemoryList=Skyrim - Animations.bsa "

I don't know what it is supposed to look like tho.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean about MO and NMM, should I try to launch the game with one of them? (They are not installed, I used Wrye Bash for old skyrim, and haven't instaled it for the new one).

I wanted to post a screenshot, but it doesn't seem like I can post a link.

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated!

The lists look good. And stick with Wrye Bash, it will always work better than the others.

Something strange: I tried to launch the game in Windowed Mod (in the options), and this time it loaded the mesh (characters, carriage, etc). However, the background far away trees and sky seemed to move in opposite direction than all the rest (for example, if I turned my head to the right, the trees and sky would move to the left, it wouldn't stay locked on the ground)

Also, the "besthesda presents - Skyrim" and the menu wouldn't be locked in front of the camera. Hard to explain, but for example, if I turned to the right, the menu would stay at it's original position, and leave the screen by the left (this is very weird). When I hit escape, I had to roate 180 degrees to have the menu in front of me, it felt like a VR menu (completely bugged tho.)

Still unplayable, but it means the game can load the meshes, somehow.

Also, it is probably nothing, but when I launch the game, the sound on the Bethesda logo (th "TUM... TUTUM") is a bit broken in the middle, always. Except when I laucnh in windowed mod. Don't know if that is a symptom of a related problem.

All in all, it seems quite fu*ked up, and I have no idea in which direction to go to make it better :/

Stick to whatever manager you like the most. At the moment I like the built in one from bethesda.net.

Maybe it will help us more if you run a dxdiag.exe and post the full report in spoiler tags.
