Skyrim: A Character Concept - Druid.

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 2:22 pm

Hello folks and thank you for reading!

Basically, I am in the mood to create a druid, or druid-like character in Skyrim. However, I am already struggling at the first hirdle - Race.

Now, I know a little bit of TES lore, more than some, less than most. So, Breton has always spoken "Mage" to me, that and Altmer, however I cannot see a Breton as a 'Druid', due to the type of civilization and society the Bretons are and live in. An Orc Shaman sounded rather cool, and doable, however quite a few people have already done this so that deters me somewhat. Imperial? Well, it seems that's just too much of an escape goat, too easy to fall back on it. Dunmer, perhaps ones of the Ashlanders (I should really clarify in my mind the difference between Ashlanders and 'regular' Dark-Elves), however I had hoped to leave the Dunmer for my Rogue-type character.

So, I understand looking at the above paragraphy I have set up some barriers that have restricted my options, I should probably consider dismantling them!

What about a Wood Elf? At one with the trees of the Valenwood. But, is his reasons for coming to Skyrim? None that I can think of.

Furthermore, does anyone have any suggestions in terms of perks and schools etc I should tap into? Keep my fingers in many jars? Or?

Thanks, Celtichugs.

Well you have a problem then.... If you want to Roleplay then I would suggest a Breton, make it a former forsworn or something that left the tribe because of some disagreements...

Orcs would make sense as well, up to a point at least.

Dunmer (Ashlanders) or Bosmer wouldn't make much sense to me. I see no reason why the type of character you are describing would leave their homeland... So basically Breton seems to be the only option to me.

Hm, yes, it is the whole "Why would said character leave thier homeland?" which couses some issues. I do Roleplay, always with house-rules etc, but I need a strong foundations for the character first.

I guess a Bosmer may make a pilgramage to the Eldergreen? Is that a possibility?

High Rock also has the highest amount of Witches Covens that we have seen so far (more than just the ubiquitous Glenmoril coven that seems to wander all over Tamriel). But heck, I can think of excuses for just about all the races to be slightly wild and connected to nature. Some are pretty flimsy, mind, but I think you're overthinking this.

Hm. perhaps I am over complicating. In the past when creating characters, no matter the game, an over complicated character does at times restrict fun.

I'd like to get the Race and reasons for being in Skyrim set though, I would have a hard enough problem believing a non-Nord as the Dragon-born as it is without worrying why my non-Nord character is in Skyrim!

Anymore ideas folks?

For some reason Im inclined to say Imperial.
A druid is sort of a western thing and I guess Imperials remind me the most of western cultures.

It would of course completely depend on the characters background and I dont think it would be someone born in a city.

But imagine an Imperial born in a remote area who is very interested in nature and the like.
Making potions, befriending animals and living in harmony with Kynareth sort of thing.

Why does a bosmer come to Skyrim?

Why do I travel to my refrigerator?

Hungry stomachs make for wide wanderings.

Breton with a really Celtic-y Brythonic-y name.

Next topic: When is a Vekh NOT a Vekh?

Next topic: When is a Vekh NOT a Vekh?

When CHIM is achieved and the next Kalpa is broken before it starts
When Alduin eats the age of men and mer
When the Thalmor stand united upon the dust of White-Gold
When the Heart of the world is returned to it's mountain
and when Numidian walks again

Vekh is, has been and will always be Vekh. Well except maybe when he has a threesome with Almalexia and Molag Bal... That stuff could drive anybody insane, especially if Sheogorath is watching and I suspect he would be...

An Argonian shaman-type would be perfect, I think. A Breton with a Celtic, rather than French, name would work and so would a Bosmer, I suppose. Even a Nord could take to the "druid" role. Those are probably the best races to use, in my mind.
