Skyrim Civil who would win?

Post » Fri May 08, 2015 10:23 pm

so, I've always wondered who would win the war strategically, stormcloaks or imperials. Now to do a fair anolysis we have to leave the dragon born out of this to keep it fair. I've fully completed the questline for imperials and stormcloaks and studied there weapons, and attitude. Now the stormcloaks are really "bold" and enthusiastic, and have a good cause. There weapons can vary to ax and shield, just one handed ax, sword and shield, one handed sword, mace and shield, one handed mace, long sword, battle ax, bow and hammer, so a variety of weapons. now the imperials, they are prideful and also have a good cause. There weapons are shorter than the stormcloaks, only have sword and sheild, one handed sword, and bow. now this does mean that the stormcloaks have a big advantage but, the empire has tons and tons of back up. but you never know hammerfall and morrowind might do the same thing as the stromcloaks but that's just a prediction. who do you think would win?

THEIR not there!

Weapon size/variety does not win these types of battles/wars. Just ask anyone who fought against the Romans and their smaller gladius.

While the Legion is having problems with supplies they still have a better chance due to Ulfric probably suffering the same thing problem with Ulfric is well, he has no allies. We already know the Legion is building a force behind Pale Pass and once that's clear they'll probably advance to reinforce the Legion forces which means Ulfric is more screwed.

I don't have much faith in Ulfric, especially when his own capital is on the edge of revolt given how the Dunmer and Argonians are treated by stormcloak supporters, hell it was Ulfric's decision to ban the Argonians from the city and it doesn't help that they're treated like dirt and paid almost nothing.

As for Ulfric actually getting help we have no clue how Hammerfell feels about the empire nor if they're willing to wage war against the Empire. Same for Morrowind but add in that the stormcloaks would be to prideful to get the Dunmer to help and asking for Morrowind's help would just end up with an awkward discussion

"So heeeeeey we're oppressing, ignoring and actively trying to push out your people without using force but if you could help us fight the Empire with you getting ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN RETURN that would be great"

The Imperial Legion of course. I'm a proud supporter of the Empire to say the least, the glory and might of Cyrodil. Death to the barbarians. lol

Dragonborn will cause a Dragon Break and both sides will win at the same time!

That's probably the best answer. :)

If you don't like that subject, why not ignore the thread? Everything repeats around here, so if we complained every time somebody created a new thread on an "old" topic, we'd do nothing but complain.

You mean the romans who used throwing spears ,normal spears, lighter armored troops for the initial part of the battle ,the large ammount of allied troops especially the cavalry, etc?

Probably the Empire. More presumed manpower and resources.

I always thought it was weird how all legionnaires wear light armor, use imperial swords(without shields, spells or dual wielding) and imperial bows. It's beyond impractical.

Where are the heavy armor people? Where are the firebolt-slinging mages seen in Helgen? Why aren't these light armor losers dedicating themselves to the bow?

This is coming from an Empire supporter. Anyways, in-game both sides are represented equally and I'm pretty sure the stormcloaks have slightly superior gear. Realistically, the legion is much greater in side and tactic, cause I can't see the stormcloaks deploying mages of any kind.

Cept that doesn't make sense and the Empire could still use the situation to kick the stormcloak's asses.

You seemed to miss the point that this is if the Dragonborn DOESN'T help

also dragonborn =/= shezzarine.

Dragonborn =/= Shezzarine.

Pelinal is from the Future in the First Era. Pelinal knows TALOS as TALOS, and cut through Elsweyr.

Why Elsweyr?

Pelinal knew Reman, not Talos. Pelinal cut through Elsewyr because he thought they were elves but ended up being stopped by Alkosh. Pelinal is not going to pop up in the fourth era and aid anyone in the civil war.

For every one of those soldiers the Roman Army had 10 (or more) standard legionnaires wielding the gladius. Having uniform soldiers fighting with the exact same equipment will always provide a huge advantage over an enemy using a wide array of weapons. It's hard to fight like a unit when people are using weapons that require different tactics.

The Legion wins.

Superior logistics, tactics, command and control and better field discipilne nearly always beats a similar sized and equipped force without the underlying training or infrastructure.

Really, you're talking a bunch of tough but independent combatants against an organized force that trains in small and large unit tactics over a lifetime. Unless you've got an ace in the hole like the Dragonborn or have a massive terrain advantage, you're going to get stomped into the ground.

Exactly. But in this case the Stormcloaks don't even have the advantage in their own terrain(with their resistance to cold). Many Nords are Imperial supporters and the Empire is known for their enchanted equipment. The Empire loves to enchant stuff. How about they send in Elite groups with resist cold enchantments to take down guerilla Stormcloaks in the cold mountains, while the rest of the empire conquers cities.

The Stormcloaks have half of the Nords.

The Empire has the other half of the Nords, and the rest of the Empire.

I back the Stormcloaks. Admittedly I want them to win, but I also think they actually stand a chance however slim it may appear in some regards.
