Skyrim Clunky UI for PC

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 2:55 am

I'm just throwing it out there:

The mouse pointer suxs! It does what it damn well pleases. You want to click on "What are the latest rumors?". Too bad, because the mouse wants you to BUY A ROOM!

Oh, what wants this with all the confirmation clicks? You know how freaking annoying it is on a mouse?! COME ON BETHESDA! I didn't spend $1,500 on a system to be out beat in gameplay by a 5 years old thing that is the xbox360!

I am sure a fix will be released for it soon enough.

Yeah, the first time I accidently clicked on an item I didn't want to at a merchant I was thinking "surely there's a confirm transaction button and I haven't actually sold it yet."

Nope. :C

I know, right? The one time you need a 'confirmation' click it isn't there! Kind of like cops, they are never there when you need them and other times they you just can't get away from them.

Oh for God's sake. I have a PC and the interface was just fine with a keyboard and mouse. You can use keys for most of it. The only thing I had to use the mouse for was for the confirmation dialog box, which was a minor inconvenience. Now I'm using a 360 controller with the PC, which I wanted for Dead Space anyway, and it's even better. Frankly it's far, far better than the interface for Oblivion. I haven't even felt a need to assign hotkeys yet because the Favorites menu is so convenient.

You're joking right? You're playing a PC game using a console controller and you're saying the PC controls are fine. The only reason using a controller is an acceptable way to play the game is because of how bad the PC controls are. A controller cannot compete with a mouse and keyboard at all if the UI is at all designed with a mouse/keyboard in mind.

And, yeah, the pc controls in oblivion were just as bad if not worse. That doesn't make it acceptable. Mods never fixed the issue in oblivion, they won't fix the issue here. The design is too horrible to fix with mods.

I played the game for like a week before I got the controller. As I said, use the keyboard arrow keys for the menu system. I think all you'll need the mouse for is maybe to hit the confirmation buttons. It works just fine that way. I'm not sure what's so awkward about the interface; I never felt like it was in my way at all.

Sorry but no. You were annoyed once when you accidentally sold something, if they add in a confirmation dialog I will be annoyed every time I sell something :)
