SKYRIM COLLECTORS EDITION NEEDS MORE IN GAME ITEMS

Post » Tue Oct 18, 2011 7:23 pm

I would much prefer in game content to a stupid statue. The statue trend is the worst in gaming right now, way worse than in-game content. The Oblivion collectors edition was awesome.

I get it Bethesda what ever you make people will buy. Even if its Rage for PC that won't run b/c we decided to use BETA Drivers to make "Borderlands" w/ "so-call" better graphics.
But charging $149.99 for a Collectors that doesn't come with anything worthwhile for In-Game is quite pathetic, You can go buy a bigger better Dragon Statue at the Renaissance Fair
for 1/2 the Price. I hope you add some in-game bonus to the Collector's maybe then I'll be able to sell your product better.

If you don't want the statue and artbook for an extra $100, don't buy it.

No.

Oh sorry, not loud enough?

NO.

NOOOO!!!

And your viewpoint on the collectors edition appears to be purely from a monitary standpoint. Quite sad.

Dude, its a collectors edition. Not a "I have more content than you do" edition. Collectors editions are only for die hard fans of the series that want to add something special to their collection of Elder Scrolls stuff. Don't buy it if you don't have an interest in what it gives. Its quite simple. There is no use in punishing the folks who bought the standard edition by giving the folks who forked over a hundred more dollars exclusive content. The whole idea of the collectors edition is that you get real world items, not in game items.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I love digital content over "stuff". A statue is nice but will just sit on my shelf, and an artbook I may look at once or twice? I liked the Pocket Guide that came with the Oblivion CE (give me something to read, and I'd love it), but other than that give me something I can use. A new suit or armor or two, a special hat, a neat sword, or a house. Something. If it's physical make it useful, but digital is nice.

If you didn't want the physical items, then why the hell did you buy the collectors edition!?

Where did I say I had, exactly?

I can still comment on it, as I'd planned to buy the CE until I realized it was going to be stuff that was useless.

You have the best argument i've seen out of the pro-CE crowd, but the statue... c'mon its cheap crap for kids these days... a real collectors edition would have something like a background book (Oblivion CE) or something unique and maybe even useful (im thinking that call of duty night vision, which while i'm not a big fan of the series would have made me think of buying it had i know at the time) but statues.... are just boring. useless. tacky. [censored] even a coin is better than a statue.

and an art book??? really??? i will see all the art in game. i don't see the point in having concept art at all, and the game itself is obviously going to be beautiful. pocket guide to the empire is all i'm saying.

The way your post was worded, it sounded as if you had bought it expecting something else. But my point still stands. There is a reason why the game is called a "Collectors Edition". Its for folks who collect real world items. If you aren't big on the whole collection thing (most folks these days aren't) then just buy the standard edition and be happy that you have over 300 hours worth of content. I really don't understand the need for some folks to buy a "better" (i.e. "more expensive") edition of a game just to gloat about the exclusive stuff they got. Besides, all that exclusive content would have gone to waste a few days after launch, as the modding community would have simply put together a free package that gives you similar stuff.

*snip*

Except for the odd couple of million gamers that might not be able to use mods. "But mods!" doesn't solve everything.

Again, I was fine with the Oblivion CE. It wasn't much, but it was nice - background about the world, races, countries, some characters. I'm not saying there can't be an uber-edition with some shiny physical things, but it's something that you're only going to glance at occasionally at best.

Unless they toss in a free pass for a lap dance at the local Hooters * I couldn't care less
about some silly 'collectors edition'.

Insert snarky remark here about people who blow coin on 'special editions' then whine about it, or think about whining about it.

* Yah, that is code for strip club. I know they don't offer lap dances at Hooters.... or did I miss something?

I can see your new, well bethesda will never do that for TeS. And thats why they're expansions and dlc. If you don't want to buy CE then don't do it, Its more about the collectors part.

personaly i did pre-order the collectors edition but i used money i got from a scratch off ticket to get it.

as for the "bonus content" i am adimently against it. for one its always some code you have to go online to redeam witch means those without internet couldn't get it even if they spent the extra cash. and again with the "get the mods" coments. not everyone has a PC capable of playing the game or has internet. (though admitedly thos on this forum more than likely do unless they are posting from cell phones)

i admit that the special eddition seems a little overpriced for what you get. PVC is crap plasticcouldnt they have made it from something a little nicer.? it woulddeffinately be worth if if it came with a Dovahkiin helmet even if its plastic instead of metal and maybe a belt buckle or t-shirt in adition to the stuff it already has.

not really you have to consider the rarity of ES games thats why the collectors edition is so much, the next one will be in 5 years unlike other games like assassins creed which comes out almost every year

Seriously, they should give us a flaming horse and flaming sword, and flaming helmet, and flaming boots, and flaming cuirass, and flaming greaves even though no one else gets greaves!! And flaming gloves!! And make all the dragons flaming dragons!!! And we can have a bonus flaming axe with flaming diamond flaming runes!!! OMG YES!

In game exclusive items svck D***, plus those are only good with multiplayer games which Skyrim isn't so who cares.
