Skyrim COMBAT! Does it deliver thud/impact feeling?

Post » Sun Oct 02, 2011 6:41 pm

Guys!

Now this game is too AWESOME. I have seen the videos sooo many times and each time it looks soo fresh. But I was a little concerned over the Combat mechanics in the game. Firstly:

1) The combat is very good but sometimes feels like the enemy doesn't move on our thrashing. Like that guy in the dungeon doesn't react when our player slashes his throat.
2) The NPC is kinda sliding and not moving. They are like slipping on the floor lol. Is it me or has anyone else noticed that?
3) I love the camera shake. Too good. But I think our player should feel the combat. Is there any rumble on hitting the NPC player? Controller shocks anyone?

DO FILL THE POLL GUYS :) and let me know about your comments :)

A lot of hands-on reviews said that weapon felt like the actually connected. I haven't personally played it but it looks pretty good so far. However, apparantly sometimes enemies don't react to blows :(

Some have said there is weight to your blows, some have said it's barely an improvement over Oblivion. One thing is certain, a lot of people, when they first saw the demo, said it's disappointing, but that's something you would have to play to know. I did notice the archery garnered a lot of praise for how it felt. Maybe that's the way to go if you need that sort of feedback from the game.

Not overly impressed by the combat. Archery and magic look pretty decent, but as far as melee combat goes... meh. It only looks marginally better than Oblivion's. Definitely not in the same league as games like Mount & Blade or Dark Messiah.

Then again, I suppose it's not that important. I mean, who buys TES games for the combat anyway...?

Lol what are you talking about? Well agreed that TES games are not 100% about combat but 70% is combat. I mean, majority Quests and MQ has combat etc.

That's not what he said. He's saying people are playing the game for other reasons than the mediocre combatsystem regardless whether it's an essential and omnipresent aspect of the game.

I'm a huge TES fan but how can people be so biased to vote YES on this one? The clear answer is NO!

Well okay, there's a lot of combat in the games... but I doubt many people rushed out and bought Morrowind or Oblivion because they thought the combat looked incredible. :P I'd say a large number of TES fans buy the games as open-world RPGs with a lot of emphasis on player freedom + character customization, rather than as action games.
