Enemies gear will be level-scaled? this was the only thing I have any issues with, but it IS a major issue. Everything else you listed does like really really tasty.. also are you sure the snow will stack up and stuff? o0

"@DCDeacon: Does the engine that we're seeing in the GI article happen to be idTech 5?"

"DCDeacon: @ElijahHouck No. That is not really an engine for the kind of games BGS makes."

Possibly the greatest thread ever? Although I would mark things like open cities as an assumption because they are not dev-confirmed.

The real quote is "Dragons are a real and regular threats in the game world. They fly into battle at unexpected times. They ravage towns. They wield awesome power. And you'll have to face them repeatedly in single combat"

It says towns which im assuming there will many of beside the 5 large cities in the game. Once again though I cant stress the fact that if the game can handle real time snow it can handle open cities.

This. They didn't confirm that the information but they heavily implied that these things are possible with the information they have given.

The level scaling is supposed to be like Fallout 3, so no. We won't be seeing every bandit and marauder with glass and daedric gear.

@mordeaniis chaos: Brand new engine built by Bethesda team is confirmed, no gamebryo anymore :D

Also, to anyone saying it will be id Tech 5, you are wrong: Pete Hines said on twitter some hours ago that id Tech is no good for their games.

Thanks! I know a while ago someone at bethesda tweeted that it would look way better, but never confirmed that it was new tech. This makes me happy.

I think that line about id Tech not being any good for their games is a load of [censored] though. It might need significant changes, but if they are using new tech then why not? id Tech 5 is being designed for a large, open world game (Rage), so I fail to see why they couldn't use it, albeit a highly customized version. Either way I'm confident in what I've heard that the game will look great. Dynamic snow and flowing water? Sounds good to me! =D

This. The only mobs who's armor will be scaling are those within random quests and higher level mobs that are random encounters. These things won't be very common in the game. But the bandit you came across the previous week in iron armor won't magically have daedric armor the next week.

I too enjoy the colors.

Also anyone have more info on the spell effects?
The only 3 I know about are the 3 basic attack types -flame, frost, lightening.

How many were in oblivion and morrowind?

There are 85 spell effects, OB had 81 though most were repetitive stuff like "drain health, drain stamina, drain
magicka". MW had about 90, though those were also repetitive like OB. Hopefully Skyrim won't be like that, so instead of 8 drain effects we have one that can be modified to drain a specific thing, leaving room for better and cooler effects.

I was writing that. As for the exact quote about the Dynamic snow, I would have to look it up but basically what they said is that each object affects the environment and thus snow will fall and build on any item, they used snow falling on the trees as their example but taking from that, it is also reasonable to think that the snow will also be able to bury items and possibly even bodies if it really snows alot.

Ye see I was wondering, I mean if it can actually lands on you O.O that would be the one of the sickest weather effects ever IMO

@Zaarin, that is a really bad argument, but this is not the place for that discussion

Awesome! I tried to find how many spell effects were in Oblivion and I failed...and here is the anwser. Thanks.

I'm surprised Skyrim have more the Oblivion, because Mysticism was sprinkled everywhere (some stuff might have been lost in the process) and some speculate that the game have no attributes (which should remove all the drain/damage attributes effects).

Ye I've seen this. But object could only mean static enviroment... I just feel that snow actuall falling on everything would be too amazing to actually exist :P

Yeah, I'm really excited for the first real snow in a game. As for fast travel, I haven't seen any information that has confirmed the return of fast travel but as long as fast travel in Skyrim is only to major cities and villages I think it will be perfect. The main thing is now that we don't have the magic compass (an assumption since we no longer have a HUD) we can search for items objectives again. Though I want them to keep the quest markers on the map so that we will know where the general area we have to go is except when a quest giver says "I'm not sure where it is" and then gives directions, then we have to search for the area. But as for specific objectives, we should have an arrow pointing our way through a cave which I think will not be in this game because of the missing HUD.

What game and to what extent? Also you may be correct about the static environment but we can always hope hehe. But even for the static environment, I've never seen or heard of such an effect in a game, especially not an Open-world RPG.

I don't why snow gets me so hyped, but honestly, I really really think this would be crazy good, this would also mean water might use a similar system, which would rock since I love rain. Also If fasttravel is restricted to cities, I'm also cool with that, I just don't want the instant transportation between anywhere at anytime, but as I said, I can live with that if it's in.
I really hope you're right with regards to the compass not being there, I honestly didn't expect them to remove this feature, but if they have, I will be extremely happy.

And I ment that I had seen the quote from the article already, not that I had seen it in another game :)

It is almost certain this has been fixed with the very intelligent AI. As for weapon types, we really don't know them right now other than the weapons types that were in oblivion are all in Skyrim for sure. As for the others we will have to wait.

It's not like a message pops up and says "This person is stronger than you." Mainly what that means is that getting to that area became increasingly difficult in where the creatures there were nearly kill you just getting near the entrance of the ruins and then you see an NPC with full Daedric armor while your in steel armor. That sort of thing where it is pretty evident if you attack him that your going to die.

Thanks for clarifying. BTW, anything in the magazine that talks about the compass and quest markers?

No but I don't see how the compass will exist without a HUD. I do hope that quest markers return though. They make since to have a place on your map marked because the NPC says "Oh I saw them running off toward Ruin X. See it here? Here I'll mark it on your map." But the compass was a little much that it magically knew where the item or npc I was looking for was inside the cave.
