Crashes to desktop usually happens when objects can't be placed and calculated correctly. The more junk you move around or place anywhere they don't belong, the more likely the game will crash. A dragon skeleton is one of these examples. I have CTDs very often when a dragon skeleton is involved. When you killed a dragon, the skeleton is a large object that requires a lot of work on CPU. It has no problem on a level ground, but when there's slope or uneven surface, there are sometimes problems. It once sank into the ground and the comp froze because of the overload in its physics engine. Have you killed the dragon at the Skyborn Altar? Or killed anything that bounced down the slope and ended up not placed correctly?
You can wait it out. Go home and sleep for several days without leaving the house. 3-10 days should do. Then save in a solid seperated save. Not auto-save or quick save. Many corpses will disappear by then, and it will reduce the size of your save file and decrease the load on the CPU when you need to access the area. Next time, place objects in the containers, if you must. Don't leave it in Skyrim. Also, you can also try to access the place from different route. Objects are not placed until you approach the area they're in. They're placed in the same place where you left them, but the placement could be different depending on your approach.Try that too.
Do tell if this works.
